Your eyes looks really good now
I'm 82 years old and had Strabismus surgery 4 weeks ago to correct double vision. Like the topic you speak of, I'm disappointed with the results and feel that it was a waste of time. I have suffered with diplopia for about 10 years with prism lenses coming to the rescue enabling me to have binocular vision again. However, there are negatives that come with prism, mostly brain related and eventually a decision had to be made regarding surgery that would enable me to go prism free. I had never heard of Strabismus until my surgery and I'm still unsure if it was the cause of my diplopia. Consultation with the surgeon is very difficult and my next appointment is Nov 4, which was, due to my anxiety with the perceived failure, but forward from Dec 2.
Diplopia can be debilitating. I am so sorry to hear that the surgery didn't fix it. Did it make it any better? Have you ever tried vision therapy. It can be very effective at correcting double vision. Sometimes they use prism, but they slowly wean you off of it. I can help you find an office at strabismussolutions.com/findvt/
Thank you so much for giving me hope.
This is week 6 of my strabismus surgery already but my eye still not quite straight and it turns outward instead , and my eyes not working together ,my brain isn’t normal I feel drowsy and can’t see very well . I called the clicnic they said it’s normal to be like that , but my concern is that my eye is not straight the way I wish . The surgery might fail
It is normal to feel uneasy as your brain gets used to the new eye position. I would recommend meditation or yoga to try to find peace with where you are at. I definitely had a life coach that helped me get through those initial months when it was so difficult. You can do this and it will get better.
I am at 8 weeks after surgery for esotropia. I was around 35 diopters in and now i'm at 15 diopters out. I had terrible double vision, but now things are getting better, I can see improvement. I think it takes time for my brain to adjust.
@@chadawesome5073 That is a huge improvement and the eyes are in a much better position if you wanted to give vision therapy a try. My surgeon said that surgery should get your eyes within 15 diopters and then vision therapy can do the rest. If you want to learn more go do learn.strabismussolutions.com
Strabismus caused by iregular astigmatism îs not adressed enough. Glasses are bad and scleral lenses or refractive surgery will prevent strabismus after muscle eye operstions
That is because it is complicated and the people who understand it well enough to make a video are busy treating patients. I still don't understand how these different conditions impact each other, especially since my vision is 20/20. I would ask your doctor!
Double vision and prism glasses didn't help. 5 days post op .Back to doctor in a week. Feel so defeated 😔
I am so sorry! That can be so frustrating. If you would like to talk with me about it over zoom, I can help you get moving in the right direction! strabismussolutions.com/consult/
Try scleral toric lenses to treat the cause
I'm really scared as I don't know if the nhs will be able to operate again.. they have told me to come back in 6 weeks they think mine looks well when it doesn't it's turned in so much
Make sure to schedule an appointment at a time of day when the eyes are "acting up" and at their worst so the doctor can observe this.
Last week I had my first surgery. But my squint returned after week. I feel so disappointed I can't tell in words. Now I'm thinking what should I do now. Should I go for another surgery. I risked my career by not reporting my boss and took leaves for 2 weeks without giving any explanation. I'm in regret.
I'm so sorry you are going through that. A failed surgery can be so disappointing. What are you going to do next?
My husbands 1 week post op he had surgery on both of his eyes and his right eye is turning inward again on day 7 post op. He is so depressed and sad 😔 I wonder if I need to communicate to his doctor or wait until fully healed ?
I'm so sorry! That can be so disheartening. How is he doing now?
He can do second ooeration and treat the cause wixh is iregular astigmatism. Refractive surgery and scleral toric lenses are solutions to cause of strabisnus
this has happened to me
I was over corrected nov 22nd still hasn’t straightened mine is also in and I have to wait 3 more weeks to get a decision if it needs to be fixed my new year is ruined 😫😫😫
What's the outcome of yours? This has happened to me 😢
Medam my exotropia surgery done 19 oct 2022 and I see the 3rd day oborved few amount of exotropia squint like 15 daiptar now i have, so now doctor do the second s surgery or take time to surgery plzzz telme
I can't really know what would be best for you. I can just tell you that the recovery takes time. I wouldn't decide until you've given yourself a few months to recover. Vision therapy is always a good option as well. strabismussolutions.com/findvt/
I have strabismus divergens. I have exotropia. 😢
My friend had strabimus surgery 8 months one eye looks bigger than other now. Now could he do vision therapy after the surgery?
Yes, vision therapy can help the brain use the eyes together so that they can keep a more straight position. go to learn.strabismussolutions.com for more help.
@@strabismustostereopsis7799 thank you for your response and I just dont understand why the strabimus eye is bigger after surgery when I take the pics it becomes more evident
@@Rubyrealistic12I have the same kinda problem, I went from intermittent esotropia, and now it looks bigger and looks crossed. 😢
You are so beautiful ❤❤❤ really
Can prisms fix strabismus fully without surgery?
In some cases, yes, but most cases, no. Usually prism can help with double vision, but not with a severe eye turn.
