      Thanks so much Christian, that's very much appreciated. I hope to keep it up but I will most likely have to either reduce the amount of content I make or drop the quality. I will see how I manage over summer. Expect a bit of variation as I tried different styles. Feedback of what you like and don't is always very helpful. Tight lines.

      I still haven't been for a fish yet this season. The rivers have been high and dirty for a long time and when they have been good I've been too busy. Will get there one day!

    Awesome day out Johan, lovely fish caught. I like the Pawel release out of the net without laying a hand on the fish.
    'Perfect' 👌 I see your GoPro over heated and shut down. Hmm yep I don't miss that. One of my real pet hates of the GoPro brand for one of a couple of reasons why I moved away from them. Nice Euro Nymphing at the end there with that rainbow you got in a really deep section of water. It's good to see you've got that in your arsenal.

      Thanks mate. Pawel didn't even see that fish he released 🤣 he comes up with new creative releases every time. Will need a t shirt or a meme soon. The Pawel release...as for the gopros. I'd stuggle without mine. They only overheat midsummer sometimes and since I use the Insta360 as a second camera now I can just swap gopros and let one cool down. I'll just be keeping the second one handy on the next trip. I have magnetic releases so it's super easy. Will see how they go over summer. DJIs next itteration might be good enough to switch to if the issues continue.

      @@CrazyAboutFlyFishingYour right.. Pawel needs his own T-Shirt. He got it in the net though so it all counts as a catch haha. On the camera subject I have a mate that has a DJIS and they don't have over heating problems I had heard and have a pretty good picture. They're Probably not as well balanced as a GoPro, with stabilization etc. But there's pros and cons to every camera but for me having a camera shut down because of heat is a real bug bear of the GP. You could end up with the fish of a life time one day and you wouldn't of filmed it how you'd like because your camera wasn't working at the time. GoPro never really resolved that issue throughout the range. I had to go with a action cam although it's nowhere near the quality of the GP smooth stability. I've just got to try adapt to its insufficiencies by keeping my head as still as I can at times with what Im using now which I'm starting to work out with it. I decided to sacrifice that area for a camera that would stay rock solid in all kinds of conditions. Each to there own though but at least you've got a number of cameras by the looks of it haha so your pretty well equipped to deal with any minor blip with one camera 👍

    Hi Johan,
    Just wondering when you switched to euro, do you think it was mainly to do with getting your fly in the right zone, if yes then would have adding split shot could it have had the same result. Thanks for all your work.
    Cheers Mike

    • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing
      @CrazyAboutFlyFishing  Год назад

      Hi Mike, getting down was the key here. The method wouldn't really matter. I could have changed to an indicator rig with two nymphs too. I just prefer euro style on this size and type of water. The contact means you miss fewer takes, casting is much easier than a heavy indicator rig and I can fish smaller flies deeper and it's much more delicate as well. only the plop of the flies landing, no leader, indicator or fly line to scare shy fish.

    Hi Johan, just notice that your mate wearing Aquaz Zip Waders, unusual to see them in NZ. Intro to the fly fishing scene? Nice bit of water, well worth the effort. Cheers mate. H

    • @CrazyAboutFlyFishing
      @CrazyAboutFlyFishing  Год назад +1

      They are indeed. You must have been too focused on the fish in my videos for the last 2.5 years 😉. They have been around for a while. Only one online shop in NZ sells them. Pawel is still an ambassador for that shop, but I have parted ways recently.

      @@CrazyAboutFlyFishing Hi, I did notice the parting from the business, but the reason I picked up is my disgust with my leaky waders. The price of waders has gone up from the equivalent of the cost of a fishing licence to eleven times the cost. Sure, waders are now lighter, breathable but they are not fit for purpose as per the Act. Now that I pay eleven hundred dollars a pair of so called excellent waders I expect excellent results. If my bush and mountain hunting gear can last longer than my fishing gear there is something wrong, especially when the leaks are in the seams. There, thats my groan! Oh, last weeks fishing on the Tongariro was a washout! The river flow was just too fast and we left when we saw the stones on the other side disappear under the rising water. So, we will give it a rest until February next year when the Brownies start running. I hear that the temperature of the Waikato water is getting to warm for the Brownies and the fish are moving upstream into the Waikato river tributaries. Could be some interesting fishing for some on their Xmas holidays. Love your videos, have a good Xmas. Cheers mate. Harera

      I absolutely hear you about the waders. I have gone back to buying the cheapest pair from a good brand. The cost of the expensive ones just aren't justified when I can buy 3 or 4 pairs of my current ones for one of the high end ones. If each lasts me only one year I'm still better off by a year or two and generally I can get 2 season out of even the cheap ones with some UV aquaseal.
      I also switch to wetwading as early and for as long as I can bear and use the waders mostly in winter.
      I look forward to those brownies moving up. The same will happen as they move up the Tongariro and Rotorua streams as well. Planning my first visit to Rotorua soon. Tight lines.
