    hi if i have a no brand box(not one you listed) and plug it in for 10 minutes to check, then unplug it, will i be ok if it unplugged and turned off or once the malware gets in the system thats it im done? and if i use a new google account or whatever made specifically for this box so it has no personal info i'm ok too? or it can access accounts on other devices?

      At the moment we don’t know what it can do, until someone tells it what to do.

      You could try going to the Google Play Store and download ESET, but I was unable to get this working, it just kept crashing or telling me to check my internet connection, but worth a try and see if you can get it working if you are worried.

    Is there a way to remove the malware with an app?

    I have a Egreat media player with a on off button on the back, when not in use i always turn this button off, but its still plugged in. Every so often i see the red light on the box come on for a split second. I joke to everyone that the box is getting its instructions from China and sending back information. Only use the box to watch films i have on its sata drive, as the android is only Android 6. Egreat are useless at updates..

      This device has not been listed as one of the infected devices, but I would certainly consider replacing it just incase it is doing other things as described in the video.

    Doesn't seem to make much sense to me, modifying the ROM which will involve a great deal of work, why would they not just manufacture their own boxes, so much easier. P.S. I have never heard of that security company before, I wonder if they are scaremongering to try and get publicity or worse still have they been sponsored by the so called Western big brands who don't want cheap (fair priced) competition.

      Kaspersky and Trend Micro and an independent security advisor has also identified this.

    Na il keep it segregated on the network same as the Chinese CCTV box that's been doing the same thing for years... Get it on a separate vlan on a managed switch after your first router so the only thing it can see is the internet and then through a second router so it can't see any of your network or use the 3 routers trick to make sure it is truly segregated if your really paranoid ... Like me 😂 Shame more people should be teaching how to do secure network set up instead of just saying don't use it ... Practise safe networking people 🤣

    • @cwtek1
      @cwtek1  Год назад

      Probably Much cheaper to buy a proper tv box than buy 3 routers and segregate. 😂

    • @SlyerFox666
      @SlyerFox666 Год назад +1

      @@cwtek1 Depends if you've already got any other dodgy devices on your network ... I already mentioned CCTV box's but how about IOT devices, Smart devices, kids toys, TV's, Hifi equipment and probably your toilet seat that should all be isolated.

      Hate to be that guy but are there any videos or posts you can link me to that goes through a step by step process on how to do this? I have spectrum and wanna get one of these … but I’d also prefer to not have malware in Mf everything I have lol

    • @SlyerFox666
      @SlyerFox666 3 месяца назад

      @@theone4359 I don't I'm afraid but there are a lot of guides on here, grab a smart or managed switch and then check out the manual it should tell you specifically how to set up the vlan. There is also the 3 dumb router trick which would also work. 👍
