I don't struggle with anxiety, but I'm used to feeling anxious. As I was writing about how stupid it sounded to me I realized that it wasn't that stupid sounding. It just sounds like a weird concept to a person who struggles with being depressed almost everyday.

If you look at their duets together you can see that tension, especially in Human. A song that many connect to their relationship. Any way, Dodie was hurt in the process and their relationship (friendship or otherwise) is no longer there at least in the public sense. That's all I know.

You know what I love about this song? Not only is it interpretable in a romantic context (i.e. Dodie and Thomas are the couple) but it's also interpretable in the context of depression (i.e. Dodie is the person who's depressed, Thomas is literally her happiness which only comes along once in a while and doesn't stay for long). not gonna lie, the way Dodie says 'aww Thomas!' at 2:14 has lived in my head rent free since this video went up. an absolute delight of a duet that's well-worth coming back to again and again (wish both sides of this collab were available on Spotify!)
the first time i listened to this song, i didn't think of it as a love song, more of a message to your own happiness. of course we all have our ups and downs, but some stay down a little too longer than others, like me, sometimes wondering if i'll ever feel happy again. to me, i think of it as a message for my happiness to stay, so that i won't feel so sad and down and hopeless and all that. the other thing is that, the chorus reminds of the times that i AM happy, but it feels surreal and untrue that i try to shut the feeling out and deny it. i try to fight the fact that i am happy, because i don't believe, or rather, don't want to BELIEVE i am happy, because soon enough it'll disappear just as quick as it went. this song really hit something there, and i cried the first time i heard it. i'm so happy to stumble upon and find dodie's songs and the fact that she had a duet with thomas made me a little bit better because i just love them both so much. oops, sorry for rambling ✌

Not only is it interpretable in a romantic context (i.e. Dodie and Thomas are the couple) but it's also interpretable in the context of depression (i.e. Dodie is the person who's depressed, Thomas is literally her happiness which only comes along once in a while and doesn't stay for long). not gonna lie, the way Dodie says 'aww Thomas!' at 2:14 has lived in my head rent free since this video went up. an absolute delight of a duet that's well-worth coming back to again and again (wish both sides of this collab were available on Spotify!)
the first time i listened to this song, i didn't think of it as a love song, more of a message to your own happiness. of course we all have our ups and downs, but some stay down a little too longer than others, like me, sometimes wondering if i'll ever feel happy again. to me, i think of it as a message for my happiness to stay, so that i won't feel so sad and down and hopeless and all that. the other thing is that, the chorus reminds of the times that i AM happy, but it feels surreal and untrue that i try to shut the feeling out and deny it. i try to fight the fact that i am happy, because i don't believe, or rather, don't want to BELIEVE i am happy, because soon enough it'll disappear just as quick as it went. this song really hit something there, and i cried the first time i heard it. i'm so happy to stumble upon and find dodie's songs and the fact that she had a duet with thomas made me a little bit better because i just love them both so much.
