This movie changed my life, went to summer camp to become a camp counselor, and through an advertisement in the counselor lounge, went to work at a ski resort. i met my wife of 25 years there and made my life what it is.

@King Rottennoggin Yes your right. In the late 70's movies like Meatballs etc... kick started the feel good comedies of the 80's. Caddyshack was also filmed in 1979 and released in 1980. I was born in 78 and grew up with all these great films. I had Makin It by David Naughton on one of my K-tel albums that I wore out as a kid.

I saw this movie in the theater in 1979 when it came out on a Wednesday night. I loved it so much for the next 8 Wednesdays I took someone new to see it! This just may be my favorite comedy movie of all-time. I always tear up a bit when Rudy crosses the finish line. Bill Murray is great!!! "It just doesn't matter!"

@@krazyoldkatlady192 Don't forget about the dish stacking game that was won by Spaz during the Olympiad, i.e. the one with the Camp North Star fans chanting "SPAZ! SPAZ! SPAZ! SPAZ!" in the background. Jackie kisses him right before this game with these words of encouragement that undoubtedly gave Spaz some extra motivation: "Besides, you can do anything you want to if you want it bad enough". Spaz was naturally helped by a young boy from Camp North Star who hit one of the Camp Mohawk cheating punks in his butt with a broom just in the nick of time. This punk had his slingshot aimed at Spaz with the obvious intent of hitting him with a rock which would cause him to drop his stack of dishes -- but because the Mohawk punk was hit in his behind at the last second, he wound up hitting Spaz's opponent instead, which caused him to drop his stack of dishes and Spaz to win easily! :-)
