Jollibee became the main rival of Mcdonalds both in the PH & international fastfood market. Back in the 80's when Mcdonalds started in the PH, they thought filipinos liked the american taste of Mcdonalds, but they were wrong. McDonalds adapted quickly enough to adjust to the local population's preferences, even removing menus Americans like because it wouldn't sell here.

Jollibee knows Filipino taste while McDonald's has American taste which lacks spices. That's why McDonald's made adjustments in their recipes and adapted to Filipino taste.
Yes, for those of us living in the US have also passed on the love for Jollibee to our children born in the US and most likely to our future grandchildren.
I worked in both of these fast food giants. I think jollibee outperforms mcdonalds because jollibee does not mainly sell food, they sell emotions or nostalgia. In the Philippines, it's common for kids to be taken by their parents/guardian to jollibee after graduation or a big milestone. On top of that, jollibee produces top notch tv commercials that depicts strong feelings of emotions.
Lately, Jollibee has been criticized by some in PH due to worsening food quality and quantity. Seems to us that Jollibee prioritized overseas operations too much that it neglected its local ops
If things keep up, MCdonalds will eventually beat Jollibee. Because Jollibee's stores in the Philippines is starting to lag in regards to food quality. Food portions are getting quite small. While prices are keep getting higher.
I just want to point out to anyone who isn't experiencing Jollibee in the Philippines that they shouldn't listen to the comment I'm replying to. ChickenJoy is bigger than ever, the service is fast and always quality and if Jollibee sees price increases due to inflation, McDonald's does as well. There are areas of Philippines where there are Jollibees across the street from each other, malls that have two or more Jollibees inside them and always, and I mean ALWAYS, there are people in line to purchase food. And of course if you simply ask the average Filipino or compare the two restaurants side by side, it is clear who is winning and even with all of the advertising money McDonald's is spending in the area, from my own eyesight, they are not even close to catching up. Personally, even if I just stay in my condo complex, I see people carrying Jollibee bags 3-5 times each day and I see a McDonald's bag maybe once or twice each week.
Your statement is not factual and is not supported by stats. Jollibee is very dominant in the Philippines in terms of sales and food quality. Did you even watch the video? Jollibee was voted as the best chicken in the U.S.. It was also reported in major news channels there. If you think Mcdonalds is better, it's fine because it's your preference but it doesn't mean that it's the opinion of the majority.
@@StriderVM wtf, I had spicy chickenjoy last week and it was as big as I've ever seen a piece of thigh, are you suggesting chickens in the US are double the size as the ones in PH? Crazy. I should go back to the US
@@StriderVM Recap on what you said: 1.Mcdonalds will eventually beat Jollibee- sales in the Philippines say otherwise, hence, I said your statement is not based on facts and not supported by stats. 2.Jollibee stores in the Phils lag in quality- to which I replied Jollibee was named the best chicken in the U.S.. In case you are not aware, Jollibee serves the same chicken flavor in the Phils. and the U.S.hence, my reply addressed what you said about food quality. 3. Jollibee in the Philippines serves half the size as what they serve in the U.S.- it's because Jollibee in the U.S. needs to adjust to their audience because Americans are used to big servings. Also, Jollibee is pricier in the U.S. than in the Philippines so the Americans need to see that it's worth their bucks. Incidentally, while replying to you here, I just had Jollibee delivered and they did not decrease their food serving contrary to your claim.
I grew up liking Mcdonalds during the 90’s. Our house is just 2 blocks away from Mcdo. I enjoyed the nuggets fries and burgers all the time. Unfortunately J’Bee is not part of my childhood. 25 years later I relocated my permanent address and Mcdonalds is just a block away from home LOL 😂😂 Now my boys fave are J’Bee chickenjoys
6:48 Just for context: Yes the Philippines had indeed been occupied by the US for forty-eight years, but that ended in 1946, a full thirty-five years before McDonalds ever entered the country.
As a bit of a conneseur of McD and Jollibee... I'd take Jollibee any day. The chicken is great, the burgers are great, I love the Jolly Hotdog and many sides options. Jollibee really needs to be in Melbourne.
Because McDonald’s burgers and French fries in the Philippines are not as good as in the US. But I would be very happy if there are more Jollies branches in the USA.
In the PH, any Jollibee will cost less than McDo. I feel that's what made them VERY accessible. And also, parents do this "You want Jollibee?" question to their kids. I think this is instinctively too. I instinctively go to Jollibee too, it's just more money friendly.
McDonald's in the Philippines is now targeting the thing that makes Jolibee successful, and that is their Fried Chicken (yes it's a pH thing 😅). Their new bigger and tastier chicken is sweeping the nation and truly goes toe to toe with the mighty Chickenjoy.

Sabi nga " Pag may Jollibee may Mcdo sa tabi "
English: If there's Jollibee there's Mcdonalds in the side
I love seeing this Jollibee mascot since I was a child. I see Jollibee mascot like a celebrity back then. ha ha ha ha
Lately, Jollibee has been criticized by some in PH due to worsening food quality and quantity. Seems to us that Jollibee prioritized overseas operations too much that it neglected its local ops
#JFC ❤❤❤ Including Mang Inasal 💚💚💚
I never had Jollibee in my life! I wish we have some here too in oregon USA 🇺🇸
I look forward to trying Jollibees some day!
@ronbaltazar8773 Thats the US. Have you seen the Chicken sizes in Jollibee in the Philippines, its almost half the size as in the US portion.
@@StriderVM wtf, I had spicy chickenjoy last week and it was as big as I've ever seen a piece of thigh, are you suggesting chickens in the US are double the size as the ones in PH? Crazy. I should go back to the US
@@StriderVM Recap on what you said:
1.Mcdonalds will eventually beat Jollibee- sales in the Philippines say otherwise, hence, I said your statement is not based on facts and not supported by stats.
The best the flavor, texture and the good services
Chicken joy of course! Nothing but the best! Jollibee is rooted in every heart of many Filipinos all around the globe.
Brunei also jollibee is dominant
since we are kids jollibee is a treat when we go to church or celebrate something , its more like a tradition now
I prefer chickenjoy than the burger 😂 I am on my 40s now and Jollibee is still our go to fast food chain! 🐝 ❤
I love chickenjoy, but I prefer mcdos burger and fries better than jollibee. Peach mango > Apple Pie
Where do you get this clip?? 1:41
here in the Phil. the children love Jollibee.. they love the mascoat
jollibe feels like home, i like that
McDonald's isn't dying in Philippines though, it just couldn't catch up with Jollibee
I'm still eating Macdonalds coz it's cheaper than Jollibee in my area. Jollibee for me has always been somewhat expensive here in the Philippines
burgers in mcdo are 45 while jollibee is 40 XD
As a bit of a conneseur of McD and Jollibee... I'd take Jollibee any day. The chicken is great, the burgers are great, I love the Jolly Hotdog and many sides options. Jollibee really needs to be in Melbourne.
I'm Filipino and though I also like Jollibee, I prefer McDonald's.
Same, the burgers at Jollibee are meh, all they got is the chicken.
I only like the fries on Mcdonalds and everything is "meh" even the spaghetti doesn't hit and chicken
Jollibee hands down! Jollibee's chicken is insanely gooooooood
In my School's Christmas Party the Jollibee staff is coming to my School
CHICKENJOY AND SPAGHETTI FOR ME. ❤❤❤
I remembered in 90’s Mcdonalds is the no. 1 in the Phil, because of the disney Happy meals toys. I wish they bring back those things
I have been comparing the 2 now and then
But i really miss the taste of jollibbee
Two World class fast food chains. The winner is the customer because of the variety of food choices.
I would agree with you back in the years back. But now, i felt Jollibee is expensive due to inflation…
The big difference between the two is variety
McDonald's in the Philippines is now targeting the thing that makes Jolibee successful, and that is their Fried Chicken (yes it's a pH thing 😅). Their new bigger and tastier chicken is sweeping the nation and truly goes toe to toe with the mighty Chickenjoy.
Chicken Joy is #1
Can you volume up the background music next time? i barely hear it from this video!
Nice docu, however need more footage, visuals are so repetitive.
Jollibee Aloha Burger, Chicken Spaghetti Meal and Peach 🍑 Mango 🥭 Pie for dessert
Jollibee sulit ang One piece original recipe one rice and ice tea regular. Two orders i usually get in Sm Mega Mall Mandaluyong Glorietta Makati Bustillos Branch... regular customer.. extra Hot sauce in four piece little cups. 😊
Too Sweet 🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨🤨😅😅😅
The jollibee near me (US) isn’t doing that well, and it was built from scratch.
We’ll here in NYC, they don’t have a $5 meal deal.
Sweet spaghetti from Jollibee actually IS very tasty... And the Chicken Joy... mmmmm... No, I'm not Filipino, but I love Jollibee...
Because jolibee always emphasize to us Filipino that they can feel at home when eating their in everywhere part of the world 😊
Also the main target customer of jolibee is kids which it inprint to kids mind until they grow up 😊
good thing we have different kind of options to eat
I buy Palabok and chicken in Jollibee Fish fillets sandwich in McDo their coffee too is very good
Jollibee prepares food that suits Filipino taste buds.....many dislike sweet Filipino spaghetti but we like much.
No matter what you say I still go for Mc Donalds!
