I'm curious if any of this was done on purpose (like tying things loosely so they can easily come apart), seeing how she kept on having issue after issue during multiple programs. If she made a mistake, having time to fix the issue, rest, and regroup would be a huge advantage. All of it makes one wonder...
Actually, NOTHING snaps until 0:18ish where her neck strap snaps...the other movement you see is her "straps" moving with her body as they are meant to do. But YEAH, her neck straps snap!

There are a lot of cheaper options out there, that are of the same quality or better than the ridiculous "name brands," out there. Could have been avoided, but I doesn't seem much attention was paid to her equipment and outfits on multiple occasions.
Nancy was poor at this time too. Why do Tonya stans act like she was the only poor skater. Most were and still are. It doesn't pay anything. Michelle Kwan and Yuzuru Hanyu had homemade costumes too because they couldn't afford to get any made in the early years. The issue is not being poor.
In 1991, Nancy became sponsored by Vera Wang. Vera purposely sought out Kerrigan for her physique, line and even her style to model her best figure skating dresses and designs. Nancy didn't purchase her Vera Wang dresses. It's a known fact that Nancy's family was not rich, but from a humble, hardworking "blue collar" middle class background from a town outside of Boston, in Massachusetts, USA. Tonya however, was officially of the poorer socio-economic level, with periods of poverty, and this too was widely known even as far back as when she quickly rose up the ranks as a small girl and began to gain attention. This was the unfortunate root of all that happened to Tonya - the discrimination, lack of support and dismissal by her own skating federation, figure skating groups and unfortunately even her own competitors.

Nancy's plumber dad was making pretty good money as a tradesman, perhaps middle class might be a better description. But perhaps the biggest difference is that Nancy had the benefit of a supportive and loving family, while Tonya had an abusive mum, five successive stepdads and a stepbrother who molested her. That was Nancy's real wealth.
3 times in 20 years is hardly "always." Having a strap snap or a blade come loose is hardly Tonya's fault. About the only one you could pin on her would be the shoelace - yeah she should have had a spare, but then again, she had her coaches there, you'd think one of them might have carried a spare . . .
All her jumps, except the axel take off backwards, her dress would likely have come away at the chest, revealing a little too much than what she intended
And if she'd continued and had a boob fall out, you'd be saying she should have stopped when she felt the strap snap. Damned if she does and damned if she doesn't.

Her dress came undone. You could see that. How is that attention seeking? She couldn’t afford brand new skates which are many thousand dollars every year. She also landed with a lot more force than other skaters and was harder on the equipment. Maybe if the USFSA ever tried to help or support her then she wouldn’t be mounting blades on the same old boots. I’ll give you the laces - she should have had another pair, but they snapped because she sliced it with her blade in warm up. No one would intend to do that. Again, you could plainly see it was too short.

If she'd skated with broken skates she could have a) severely injured herself and b) wouldn't have been able to do justice to her ability, andif she'd skated with a broken costume... Let's just say Kerrigan wouldn't be her skating scandal. Give the girl a break, id love to see you risk potentially career breaking agony or immense humiliation just so some ignoramus in the internet wouldn't call you an attention seeker.
Rubbish old equipment due to no money, lack of family support and a robbing abusive husband. If you get a designer dress made for you it's less likely to pop open than if you have scraped together pennies to make your own.
