- Mexico is commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec empire.
Many are choosing to honour those who defended their land, and celebrate the ancient Aztec city of Tenochtitlan that is believed to have been founded 200 years before Europeans arrived.

This year also is the 700th and 200th anniversaries of the founding of Tenochtitlan and formal independence from Spain, respectively.
The evidence demonstrates that the founding was in the year 1325 AD. In 1821 the end of the War and declaration of Independence, although Spain recognized it officially until December 28th, 1836, after the loss of Texas.
Who would win a Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes his 500 men and thousands of Native Allies Vs the Aztec Empire
Exactly! A lot of people ignore the fact that many many natives were bribed to join the Spanish due to their hatred towards the Aztecs. People think that the Spanish conquered all on their own lol.
@@Bitcash1 they still wanted to keep the culture which spainish did not
Besides the sacrifices

Wow what an interesting history ❤️
Mexico is a Nahuatl word. Tenochtitlan was also known as Mexico Tenochtitlan. 🤦♂️

Its was a group of different people always fighting and enslaving each other

By demonic souls. In the bible God says he will save subjugated people from their foreign subjugators, makes me believe they were sent by Satan himself.
Not at all, Spain, unlike other European powers, incorporated the natives into its empire.
@@rickyxxsi9177 More like France. France would be the lesser of evils. The French empire was based on the fur trade in this region and required Native American alliances to sustain it. Native people and the French traded, lived together, and often married each other and built families together. Many Native Americans, however, continued to practice their traditional religion or to observe a mixture of the two, and the French did not resort to forced conversions as the Spanish did.
My brother is white as snow and I’m Mexican asf
Mexican is not a colour 🤦♀️
Because being Mexican is the combination of the indigenous and Spanish blood...... Hence why some Mexicans are whiter and some are more indigenous looking and inbetween.
@@aideelopez579It is. Mexican ≠ Mexica and there is the people who are squatters and or who gained citizenship later on (only Mexican on paper).
@@joshuafult84Everyone being mixed with a Spanish is nothing but Spanish propaganda. You really believe 1% of the population manages to spread their DNA all over the Americas? That is logically impossible. Look up, ‘Mezitaje is a ideology of white supremacy.” It will break it down even more and you’ll know what I am talking about.
Moctezuma's brother was described as being as white as the Spaniards. The Spaniards themselves said that
You can’t have a Mexico today with the indigenous or the Spanish
Yeah 500 years and still counting still under White And Mestizo rulership
Meztizo rule is right!! After we were put Thru the mother of a culture shock and forced to mix, now they call us halfbreeds with disdain!! Got news for you ignoramuses, México has more full Native tribes than any other country, they still speak only their original language. Other than registered full Natives, Mexicanos carry more Native DNA than any other group, that is a scientific fact!! South America is no slouch either. México population Is Meztizo they r 50 percent or more Native. They marry each other, that Native DNA keeps getting stronger and the other weaker. I am 67 percent Native from 2 México tribes Huachelo and Yaqui, who also has tribes in USA, but I have fair skin. Damnit, we can't help the way we look, we were perfectly fine being and looking full Native! We did not invite the horror!! We don't give a flying what USA ppl say, u r the most misinformed ppl bout Natives, but u fill in the blank with hateful negative USA BS! Most of u don't know that all Southwest tribes were Mexican!! Idk how the Spanish stole alot of gold and still his countries it's not number 1
They built a fleet of ships to go against Britain and got destroyed.
Stealing? only 10% went to Spain while the rest was invested in America and in case you did not know, Spain in its imperial era had world hegemony for a long time.

By the weather.
If it had landed it would have been over for them.
There's a reason that they didn't want to fight the Spaniards on land and they actually declined an invitation from Spain to fight on terra firma :)
Having culture of siesta and Catholicism was a major role. Good thing Mexico already banned siesta culture. Now Catholicism would be another good option to ban.

Americans?
so let me get this the Spanish lost the first battle got the other natives to turn on the aztecs came back and destroyed the Aztec.. they betrayed there own people for the gringos 🤦
Mercenaries. Most of military history is mercenary history. Now billionaires will soon be able to create their own armies and wage private wars on state governments as they have in the past.
Well yes and no. The Spaniard join forces the Tlaxcalans, which were not part Tenochtitlan; so they were consider Aztec/Mexica. They live in the Mexican state of Tlaxcalabut and were enemies of the Aztecs.
Aztlan... Mexica. 🙄😑🙃
2:22 Here's the thing...no of them are the descendants of the people of Tenochtitlan AKA the Aztecs/Mexica. The Mexica (their actual name) were wiped out by war and/or diseases brought by the Europeans. The Mexica empire was said to have been about 80,000 sq miles, but not all the people within those borders were Mexica. The were people from various other groups who were subjugated by the Mexica. The Iberian peninsula was once part of the Roman empire, but the people there weren't actually Romans. The vast majority of Mexicans do have indigenous DNA, but just not Aztec/Mexica.
The Mexica were a branch of the Nauha peoples, who are themselves still very much around with more than a million who identify as such. Their blood, while ravaged by disease and war, was not wiped out completely but has mixed in with many others. There definitely are descendants of the Mexica around today.
Define conquest, please..... I am Montezuma’s Heir. I am surrounded by “geniuses” who act like robots, but am still breathing air and laughing.
