    Brock defeating The Streak - it revitalized Lesnar, and it led to him soundly destroying Cena and Roman, to delight of the crowds in attendance.
    Damien Sandow winning MITB - it further prevented Cody from reaching the main event, which led to a LOT of things that followed, before Cody ended up as WWE Universal Champion.
    Alexa Bliss beating Becky Lynch for her first Women's Title win - she wasn't one of the Four Horsewomen, nor was she an indie darling, nor was she an NXT star, but quickly became a major star on the main roster. It first required Alexa to beat Becky, who wasn't a major fan favorite, but she was a fairly beloved babyface.
    Batista winning the 2014 Royal Rumble - fans HATED it, but then Batista turned heel and it added even more fuel to the fire for Daniel Bryan. Dude defeated Evolution in one night by himself. Can't get much sweeter than that for a guy who was far from what Evolution represented.

    I was a kid when Austin turned heel and joined forces with McMahon and at the time I hated it. I couldn't believe that it happened and everything in my body rejected it, but as I have gotten older I have actually grown to appreciate it. I remember there was an interview between him, the Rock and Michael Cole and Austin said something to the affect of "I need to beat you Rock. I need to beat you more than you could ever imagine" and honestly that's a pretty brilliant way to setup that heel turn tbh. I think the timing of it was all wrong, but I have grown to respect what they were going for.

    Early Mr McMahon having "the stooges" as his main 2 body guards was so friggin hilarious.

    Triple H's Reign Of Terror was never a genius idea. It turned so many of my friends off wrestling so hard that they just quit watching for years. It's a black stain on Hunter's legacy no matter what he continues doing now to improve the product. It also doesn't help how many stars you mentioned that gained nothing from it. Everything else on the list is good fun though, it didn't literally drive viewers away in droves

    While Drew losing at the 2022 Clash at the Castle definitely furthered storylines and helped Drew it didn't help Solo and his Bloodline or even SD because we got some bad TV although Solo now has seemed to find his stride by him not talking on the mic. Also I really blame the booking of Cody going after the Bloodline again after his title win. What was Trips thinking tbh?

  • @Thecallmemisterajp
    @Thecallmemisterajp 25 дней назад +2

    As much hate as Cena gets for all the golden shovel stuff, I’m surprised that people don’t note the Brock return more. Not so much because he won (which I don’t think was bad in and of itself), but post match Cena grabs the mic and cuts this promo re: people in the office wanting him to go away. It never went anywhere on TV, but the next night Brock got his heat back by injuring HHH and breaking his arm, which took HHH off of TV for a time. I’ve never heard it reported on, but I’ve always suspected that it was intended, or at least pitched for Brock to injure Cena instead, and that the weird promo at the end was Cena’s way of protesting the decision. A lot’s been said about Brock’s credibility early in his return, but what would it have meant for him to injure the top act in the company instead of HHH, who by that time was already a part timer?

    • @addi543
      @addi543 25 дней назад +2

      I’ve always felt in retrospect it was an insurance policy, if Brock just went over all the top guys again and decided a year or two later that he was bored and wanted to go do something else (like play baseball or learn guitar) and bolted without putting anyone over on the way out, it would’ve presented the same problem they had when that happened with Brock in 2004

    The part of Austin's heel turn that I didn't like was I find the Babyface v Babyface of the two biggest stars in the company in the Wrestlemania Main Event to be the most memorable. Hogan v Warrior, Hart v Michaels. The best opportunity for it between Austin and Rock was X-Seven. Now, I do think the rarity of such events adds to them, but that's why I felt disappointed with the end of Wrestlemania X-Seven.

      @@GavinJones19982 Dude had the right. When Rocky 3 came out, it was a massive worldwide hit. Because Rocky was that rare thing in the 80s, a majorly successful franchise. It was just below Star Wars in terms of popularity. You know who made a big statement in it? Hulk Hogan, he became a massive star, he turned heads right away, Hollywood wanted him, they were going to make him a star. You know what he did instead?
      He decided to promote himself and Hulkamania as a wrestler, and he told Hollywood you don't get me now, if you want me so bad, watch wrestling!!
      So he got a bunch of people watching wrestling who had no interest just because he was such an appeal to them. Then Vince McMahon saw what he was doing, and decided, I want to promote that man further, I want to help build his brand and I want that to build my company.
      That's the ethos of wwe, (1) build your own brand, (2) build the company. He is always going to treat people favourably who "get" that, and Hogan got it so much he "got it" before Vince even did. And did you not hear what you just said Miller, so Hogan didn't want to help Yoko or Bret but then you say he didn't help by dropping the belt to a bad A heel.
