The Brawl For All was the dumbest thing ever. If you’re going to have a legit shoot tournament, the least you could do is treat it as such i.e. The winner could be anybody.
Not only was it grossly unfair to Bart Gunn, who should never have been punished for doing nothing wrong (especially since the Butterbean slaughter occurred at Wrestlemania 15). It was also an unfair dismissal of Steve Williams, given that it wouldn’t have been all that hard to rebuild Dr. Death’s momentum if they had really wanted to.

I can't imagine anything worse than asking for a release, and being denied. It's like your entire life belongs to someone else, that they can ruin your career if they choose too at any given moment, and you know it. You have to sit there, watching your career being ruined, when you know that you could do better in another promotion, like AEW, and there's nothing that you can do about it. Given the gimmicks that Vince put his talent through, you can understand why some of them, like FTR, go over to the competitor, and instantly things start to look up for the talent.

Maybe I’m foolish or a glutton for punishment but I still believe in Cedric. I think this team with Evans is a good spot for him. Mentor the next huge star of the company, maybe go on a nice tag team run for a bit, turn on Evans and then get a nice showcase in the blowoff feud.
Afterwards hopefully everyone is reminded of how good he is and he’ll get another proper run on the main roster.

I don't condone "the Acolyte approach" (as I think *WWF management* called it), but they were just being pricks at the time; they'd just quit ECW (again) to go to the WWF after only a few shows, because they didn't want to sell, much less job to The Dudley Boyz, who were top heels there by then...

FTR are 2 little midgets that do moves ok and couldn't do promos anyone would want to listen to if their lives depended on it that started believing Jim Cornette's hype that they are the greatest tag team in The World. How are they doing now? Is the situation they are in now also because Vince "Hates Tag Team Wrestling"? I wanna know who if they owned WWE would have had Bart Gunn wrestle Stone Cold for The WWF Title just because he won Brawl For All? A tag team guy his whole time there, never had a singles feud,"That's Our Next Big Singles Star!" Yes Dr Death Would have gone on to that had he won,yes it was set up for Him to win. Who would have thought Dr Death would have lost a shoot fight? Nobody else was getting that shot for winning?
