Let's be realistic, any way you look at it this is a very attractive 50 year old classic Olds that most folks would be thrilled to add to their collection or make it their only weekend cruiser. 72 was a good year, the color's right, the condition's right and it's a coupe for goodness sakes! I love it and someone's going to be very happy with this ride.
Okay, when you opened the door to show the interior I just said "wow!". What great condition. I just love GM cruisers of this era. Great car I wish I could afford it.
Pops always bought mom 98s. A '68, and then a '70. The '70 had a 455ci engine. I used to sneak it out when I was really young. We'd turn the breather cover upside down to get that cop car effect! lol Years later, mom still had that car. A friend pulled up beside me on the highway, with his '79 Trans Am. We both matted the pedals, in low 2. He jumps me a fender, or so, and shifts into drive. I held the Olds till 90 before shifting up to drive gear. I walked off and left him...
I want to thank you for a great video. After reading some of the comments, I wonder why people who are so disagreeable just don't scoll to the next video. I totally understand you not posting the price yet, as this actually is a fact finding video. By posting you can have some of us give some "positive" input to help you. Obviously one of the previous owners, put in a after market sunroof, slapped some wire wheel covers on it, and probably dumped the original seats to a nicer period correct (within 2 years) pillow top interior, and painted the engine block (L74 455 block) a light blue instead of the original metallic blue. All those things would be considered if someone wanted a EXACT pristine example- which we both know is probably impossible to find. That being said, what a great car! For the rest of us 99%, I think we would be proud to have it in our garage.
You know I really appreciate you taking the time to send over some positive vibes! I make a lot of effort to be sure I am calling these cars right. It's nice to see some folks who do appreciate it!
That’s a 98 that definitely deserves to be preserved. For me the only thing I would do is get rid of the exhaust tips even though they’re period correct for that era.

In my early teens my family owned a new one which I was allowed to drive once in a great while. The 98 drive like a locomotive on rails before it had radials. It was heavy, smooth riding, had a four speed Hydromatic, and was very powerful.
@@NateEll I may be wrong about it being a 4 speed, but I felt three distinct modes when I was out drag racing my teen buddies who were driving the families cars. Our 65 Bonneville had a different transmission which was much smoother. One friend's dad owned a Buick Wildcat with two 4 barrels that was a serious contender. There was Cutlass 442 convertible a girl friend owned that could leave rubber at 45 mph. We lived on the south Texas coast, gasoline was cheap, so driving a gas guzzler wasn't a problem. This Olds 98 is drop dead gorgeous in my favorite color too. I was getting ready to graduate HS that year. Joined the Marines bought a ‘73 Camaro with a longing look at the unaffordable Olds. Here is one I have up for auction right now! Will be adding walk around and driving videos on Monday! bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-oldsmobile-ninety-eight-2/
Still prefer the DeVille styling but this is better styled than the Electra, the interior is more luxurious than either of those with the pillowed seat cushons, Buick and Cadillac would follow suit in the next 2 years, those seats also seemed to hold up better with time vs their vinyl - leather counterparts, you just had to be careful not to drop a lighted cigarette on them... For 72 that would have been my pick, a beautiful car!
ill never forget her. just lay back and blowaway the compitition with looks as well as power. she kept me smilin. this ones super sharp. what gangsta she is,,
I remember when my uncle used to get a new Oldsmobile 98 every three years. He went to buy his newest one and was outraged when he saw it had a GM corporate engine that was a SBC engine. He had ordered the car and expected it would have the 455 Rocket V8 engine. He refused the car and went and bought a Lincoln Town Car instead. He never owned another Oldsmobile again.
@@TurboDaveT Late '76, the base engine became the "corporate block" 350 which was the SBC. Olds 98 wasn't downsized much until the early 80's. thanks!
Frankly, I'd flip a coin between a choice of these 98's or the Electra's from any year. I adore them. Great video
Does it come with a large pimp hat and platform disco shoes?? Golf bag with Tommy gun???
Thanks!
nice car to cruise the streets in
Thanks!
Damn that car is a beauty and the guy is very Hot as well.
Cheers
Thanks! Someone commented to call the fashion police on me!! What??? lol!
sweet ride,those rims very stylish
Thanks 👍
RV style sunroof will sour many!
Yes I know, but when I saw the car and the potential it had I couldn't pass! Hoping the next buyer has my same mindset! lol
Love the curved down exhaust tips. That wasn't a sport car so to me those tips look spot on.
I wasn't a huge fan of those. I am more of a stock look kind of guy.
@@christianbugatticg I like the straight tailpipe look better on muscle cars. I know you probably sold this off already but an Olds 98 coupe from that period is a rare car to see. Thank you for showing it.
@@cellpat2686 Sure!! Thank you!
Loved my 1972 Olds 98
Yes!
I saw this channel for the first time today... at home with covid... at 69 it's something... got this crap twice... I exercise daily, on vitamins and in sun .... but baddabing I got this weaponized virus...... this channel brings back great memories...a better time.... how much do these go for??? Is it for the big money boys? Either way it's good to watch......
Hey Mike! Yeah, I got it twice but thank goodness I literally little to no symptoms. I was fortunate. Hope you get through it ok. Most people do! This particular car sold for 16,500 and went to California. Glad you are enjoying.
I have a 1973 Olds 98 LS that is very solid but needs a repaint. It has a mint black interior and a good black vinyl roof, but I can not stand the factory mustard yellow paint.
I had a 72 98 Olds 4 door. Best cross country vehicle I have ever owned. Could drive it all night long at 90 MPH.
The ride is amazing!

When is the auction? I looked on BAT but couldn’t find it.
@@c50ge we will announce it once it goes live. We "believe" in less than 2 weeks at this point. We are just in line waiting. Thanks for the interest!
@@christianbugatticg
Any idea when at auction?
Buy it now price?
@@c50ge Hey sorry, you missed it, it sold for $16500
God I would give anything for one of these...my grandparents had one green with white interior..mi grew up in that car... would give anything for one
Here is one I have up for auction right now! Will be adding walk around and driving videos on Monday! bringatrailer.com/listing/1973-oldsmobile-ninety-eight-2/
Very rare car, pristine condition. 👍
The back of the car reminds me of the 1963 Cadillac.
It does! LOVE the fins!
I have own 73 coupe for 22 years
nice
That is one beautiful car!
You did a great job here
Thank you!
Thanks!
I had a 1972 Delta 88 two door I restored and sold to Charles grant from the New Orleans saints.
ill never forget her. just lay back and blowaway the compitition with looks as well as power. she kept me smilin. this ones super sharp. what gangsta she is,,

@@TurboDaveT Try again. Late 1976, Oldsmobile began using the "corporate block" engine which was the SBC 350 engine.
@@TurboDaveT Late '76, the base engine became the "corporate block" 350 which was the SBC. Olds 98 wasn't downsized much until the early 80's. FYI, I'm 50+ years master level factory certified auto/truck tech. 37 of those years at a large Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealership. That dealership company also owned Oldsmobile/Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealerships and a Rolls Royce dealership. I guaranteed that I've forgotten more auto/truck information than you'll ever know.
@@TurboDaveT No mistake here at all. I know from experience. Not too long ago, I did a full restoration on a '76 Olds Cutlass and it's engine was /is a 305 SBC. DO NOT pretend to know things that you don't.
@@TurboDaveT FYI, prior to 1976, the base engine for an 70's Oldsmobile 98 was the 455 Olds Rocket engine.
Gorgeous car!
In 73 it had the ridiculous 5 mph bumpers.
Yup
