2:08 This is not exactly true. During the 1990s only 1 out of 50 films were erotic films. But the producers dubbed these films in other languages and released them. The original malayalam films only played in their own language. So many people outside Kerala believe this.
Mollywood has long been the best film industry in India. For long North Indians conflated Malayalam film with Telugu and Tamil. People forget that even Hera Pheri is a remake of a Malayalam movie
It is a wrong concept that Malayalam films were once driven by Soft Porn. For decdes, there have been always films in malayalam which were much advanced in terms of content and quality. It was only for a period of 2 years (2000 & 2001) were there were more Soft porn low budget films than mainstream ones. It was just because of the Expense to profit ratio. Soft porn movies could be made with a budjet within 5-10 lakhs then. So whatever it collects above that fetches profit to the producer. At the same time, You were right in mentioning that from 2000 to 2008, the Malayalam producers then were trying to replicate Non malayalam like mass masala movies and cringeworthy comedy movies, and that was the worst phase of Mollywood. Please refer old malayalam films like Neelakkuyil, Chemmeen, Irakal, Thoovanathumbikal, Manichithrathazhu etc.. to name a few that you can watch & understand how much Malayalam Films were ahead of other Indian film industries back then. May be Bangali films were an exception. They also used to make quality content.
@@DWCUniversal Malayalam films have churned out timeless classics in each era from 60s through 2000s each reflecting the stories of that Era. I would also suggest to make the edit in the video atleast in writing correcting the soft corner reference. Besides, every film industry has created softporn films at one stage, but to callout one industry is wrong.
Really stupid for you to say malayalam movies made only softporn in the past. Get your research done properly before making such videos and statements.
First of all, the title of this video is misleading. Mollywood has always existed with great movies and exceptional actors - you all just discovered it recently, that’s all.😅
