Dollarama does not carry fake Funko Pops. Something you need to know about that store, is that they sell many legit products from companies that have items that don't meet their quality standards.
For example, lets say the Funko Pops factory had an issue with the manufacturing machine and it produced 1000 Funko Pops with defects in them. Instead of destroying the defects, they will sell them at a great discount to stores like Dollarama and then Dollarama will sell them less than they are sold in other stores. Manufacturing companies do that, so that they don't lose money, whenever they accidentally produce items that don't meet their quality standards.
This is why you should never buy shampoo, soaps, etc... from Dollarama. These products are often missing ingredients, so the manufacturer deemed them as defects and sold them to Dollarama and other discount stores all over the world.

Dave Dangles Doubt it. There’s too many profound discrepancies. They’re not QC rejects likely. Because there’s too many differences with the builds themselves. All of them are made with different molds as they ALL have the same issues in the body itself. Then you’ve got the issues with paint and box issues. Funko wouldn’t have a batch that diverts THAT much from what they’re intending. There would have to be a conscious decision to make the molds like that and boxes like that.
Brianna Gordy I work for a certain food company and we do something called “first runs”, which is small batch production before final QA approval. No w, we throw ours out because it’s food, but these Chinese hard goods manufacturers sell off seconds, first runs, QA rejects, etc. And you’d be surprised what does and does not print, even on final production lines.

That is how a lot of these go out to the market, but there are companies in the Orient that do mass produce counterfeit items for resale, it's big business over there... Sadly a lot of people get suckered buying what they think is an authentic funko pop (especially rare ones)
Dave Dangles I live in Brooklyn and we have a lot of 99 cent stores and a lot of their “name brand items” are exactly what you said. I have seen my fair share of things that I knew were too good to be true

Funko takes a lot of pride in their products, they just straight wouldn't sell them if that were the case (my mom works for them here in Everett, Wa). They're very particular, I bet Dollarama or whatever their calledwill probably be getting a cease and desist with those, basically a pull these from your shelf...or else..
Some stores like Dollar stores will buy products that the trucks have been in accidents or for some reason had been confiscated by police. And these dollar stores will buy them at auctions. I don't know if any one else has ROSS department stores but they sell clothes and shoes that are not second hand but have imperfections from the original manufacturer so it could be something like that too.
I saw these at my local store as well. They look pretty good all things considered. Especially since real pops have so many imperfections and discrepancies between them as it is.

well... i do feel like most pops' paint job ain't that perfect anyway. most of the time even the legit ones have a lot of paint defects or even paint misplacement. so, hard to base it from paint job or even plastic cuts from production.

Bradley Playz Nah. They’re too different from the original. The body molds and box art would be made consciously. They divert too much from what Funko intends. They’re not QC rejects..

I don't think they are fakes I think it's more likely they gave the lesser quality or mistake pops to dollarstores and places like that. To prevent waste and because they knew the figures weren't worth the full normal price. But they weren't unsellable either.
Learning to Fly Doesn’t make sense. The bodies are all made with the same incorrect mold. And the boxes are all consciously made wrong. It’s clearly not an issue of QC rejects. They more than likely are “well made” fakes that a distributor was unaware of, bought a stock, and they’ve been distributed to Dollarama.
Dollar ramma most likely got the quality control rejected ones.

(Though it's funny, I worked for Hot Topic from 1998-2006, and we had a license with Funko before they found their groove and made the pops!, which made them a household name. I have a story of my Hot Topic management days in my city, which happens to be where Funko started/funko hq and all, and I had an unpleasant phone interaction with a Funko employee waaay back in the day, the next day Funko sent me flowers and a card to apologize. Also now my mom works for Funko! Lol crazy!)

No funko wouldn't sell defects that way, if at all. My mom works for em, and their really protective and take pride in their products.
I think there manufacturer rejects and not fakes. Just like if you went to a Nike outlet or Coach and there is defects.

D Arsenal Doesn’t make sense. They were made all the same incorrect mold. They were purposely made that way and their boxes were purposely made that way. Hence the uniform nature in all of them. More than likely, they’re “well made” fakes that an unknowing distributor bought a stock of and they’ve been sent to Dollarama. Funko wouldn’t have those many profound, clearly purposeful discrepancies in their QC rejects.

They're not fake. They have defects like what you noticed and they're not suitable to be sold at big box retailers.

So yeah, I'm new to the Funko Pops Phenomena as I just purchased Su, Yui, and Moa-Metal for just under 300CAD off of ebay for the complete set..
Not sure if I got a good deal or not, but all 3 are now "vaulted" and the ones I found on Amazon were 90CAD cheapest for Yui and 130CAD for Moa, and 229CAD for Su.
I still haven't received them yet as I just ordered them a cpl days ago and coming from China and earliest ETA is Feb.11,21..
Seen a few of your videos over the past cpl days and after seeing this one is making me hope that the mine won't be fakes :s....

Did you try scanning the bottom of the box with the funko app? Would it still bring up the pop if it was fake?
At this cigarette store near me they have a lot of pops and I found out they were all fake and they sell some pops for more expensive than regular price. Like the Banzai, Shenzi and Ed 3 pack in Australia is usually 70$ but they were selling it for 90$

Attention! This funko from dollar Rama are not fake they just buy the messed up pops that are cheaper than the ones that target and such shops would buy. For example let’s say 30000 woddys were made and funko only wanted 20000 then the factory who made woody will sell the left over ones that funko didn’t won’t cause they were messed up

BUT, most FAKE POPs I come across have a much thicker white boarder around the character image on the front of the box. Definitely seems to be the case with the Dollar Store ones here as well. Not sure why, but ALWAYS look for the thick white boarder...
the most likely scenario is dollarama found cheap funko pops online and purchased them without thinking twice because none of the employees probably collect pops then put them out for the public however i don't think they are purposely trying to rip ppl off. Since they sold real ones before they probably had no clue just thought they were saving money :)
It probably just all the defects , so they get sold at a lower price . And those without money can buy them , not necessarily “fake”

the reason the fake one is smaller is because typically when you recast/cast something it will shrink by roughly 3%
Finally found these two at our local dollarama lol. I argued with the wife that they were fakes, and she said no way. Had to show her this video.

It's not that they are real and fake. They are like funko rejects that are bought up by stores at a very discounted rate and sold to the public as funko. That way both companies win
Thinking about it, you can buy the fake and real ones, display the real one in bow and the fake out of box, to people who don’t know the difference would never know
I'm sure you noticed alot more watching this video back. There's so many imperfections.
The store might also tape them before placing them on the shelf because they might be a high theft item.

These are not fakes. They are the rejects and/or production mistakes, which is why they look different, that they sell to discount stores, just like other retailers

@@TopPops The boxes are printing errors that didn't make the cut. I know that there are fakes out there and some are really good. I have a Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad that is fake. I also have a real one for comparison. Thanks for replying, I love your channel and all you do. Keep it up!

Honestly fake or not as someone that wants certain funko pops that are out of my range id still buy them. The difference is passing them off as real and trying to sell them for real prices.
I used to work for Dollarama they are not fake also some stores take them down so no one will open way too many people want open them and taking the out also the Funko pops are coming from store who have overstock last year season and just clean out old one they use the same supplier as winner, London drugs, shoppers drug Mart, Lovelace the best way knowing if it's fake or not ask the store manager if you can buy a whole entire case not been open then you can look on the box for yourself because it had a factory-sealed from Funko Pop
