What a sick run! Fighting those gammas with exactly 10 missiles is not for the faint of heart. GGs!

Missed the stream but watched the VOD the next day, beautiful run of a very cool and challenging category! The bomb jumps, damage boosts/jump resets, and morphball bounce control showcase here are extraordinary, I'll be revisiting this run many times in the future for sure.

Been on a Metroid 2 kick and was happy to see you running this game as recently as a few months ago. Congrats on a killer run and for putting two categories to rest within a few days of each other. Love it.

BTW there is a spot in the Omega Nest to farm BOTH health AND missiles, but I don't remember where in the nest.

This is awesome I’ve been trying to complete the game with as little items as possible. I’ll try out your list.

3 items? Yikes! I can beat this with 5 though. Those are as follows, in order:
    1. Bomb (required)
    2. Energy Tank (required)
    3. Space Jump (IBJ breaker)
    4. Screw Attack (for Queen)
    5. Ice Beam (required)
Seeing this beaten with 3 items is interesting.
I have a second set of 5 items I can beat Metroid 2 with, and here it is:
    1. Bomb (required)
    2. E-Tank (required)
    3. Spring Ball (A double jump)
    4. Screw Attack (for Queen)
    5. Ice Beam (required)
I don't think I'll ever be able to do low%.

Congratulations to getting this run! It's fascinating to read the history between you and this category and to see how hard work and dedication can pay out in such a great way.
Any more plans for Metroid 2 or are you done for now? And if so, any plans what game you will focus on next?

Found your channel after playing Metroid 2: Return of Samus, for the first time. Awesome runs and I subbed to your channel! Those bomb jumps were extremely impressive. I enjoyed this game, but the lack of a map for this game and the first game was really frustrating compared to the later games in the Metroid Series. For this game in particular, it was so easy to get lost and difficult to figure out where to go. I ended up using an external map to somewhat guide my gameplay so I wouldn't spend hours backtracking instead of actually playing the game. How long did it take you to learn the map? Or was it never an issue for you? What is the RNG associated with the Queen? Does whether she gets stunned or not by X amount of missiles completely random?

Thanks, glad you enjoyed my runs! Yeah the lack of map for first time can be difficult but i think once i understood the mechanic of clearing the metroids in each branch of the world until there was an earthquake made it a bit easier, and knowing that you're always traveling south in that main 'lobby' area so to speak. I first played this game in 95 when i was about 7 or 8 so it's hard to recall exactly how it felt but i think i enjoyed getting lost more then as a child vs how I would get on playing it as an adult for the first time lol.
So for the Queen, excluding the projectiles she just has two modes of attack: headbutts and open mouthed headbutts. You can only stun her with a missile on the latter. So this being low% run I can't waste any missiles and thus i'm counting on good rng for practically every round to stun her and go inside to lay the much higher damaging bombs.

@@Giganotabehemoth87 Thank you for your reply! I started my first playthrough of Super Metroid and am enjoying it much more than the 1st and 2nd Metroid. The map gives me enough direction to go through the game, without telling me exactly what to do or where to go. That being said, I really did enjoy the 1st and 2nd. I don't mind the exploration aspect and trying to figure out what to do, but I hated being completely lost hahaha. I am also looking forward to watching your speedruns of Super Metroid as well once I finish my first playthrough!
Thank you for the explanation about the Queen. I had no idea it worked that way. I beat her by shooting her with 150 missiles. Once on the way in, Second in between the two random attacks, and Third on the way out, so I almost never saw her get stunned! Cheers and thank you again :) I will probably write some comments on your other videos as I progress through the Metroid series.

There is now a hack of M2 that adds a map in the pause screen.

Are there any glitches used in this run?

No glitches used here, only the exploitation of the bomb jump to go everywhere.
