However, while such influences resonate through their music, they are never derivative, having a strong musical identity and forging their own sound. "We wanted to recreate the time when bands had multiple singers, and while it is essentially riff driven, melody and harmony will always trump speed and heaviness in this band," states vocalist/guitarist Russ Tippins (also of classic metal band Satan). "We make music as a living thing. Our intent is to try to capture the sound of a real band playing together, all members making it work, mistakes and all," adds vocalist/bassist Cindy Maynard, both statements borne out in the band's recorded content and live shows. There is also something inarguably organic and natural about everything that they do, no posing or trying to be anything that they are not, and the pleasure they take in the music they create is palpable.
This is some amazing songwriting all throughout. The vocals, the guitar harmonies, the changing rhythms... this is nothing short of mesmerizing. So many details to hear... I am thoroughly impressed.
This is one of the best Songs I have heard for a long time. Love Russ songs and guitar playing at Satan, but this is very impressing. If you like that music you should hear the last albums of Horisont or Hällas.

I would have thought they were named for Tanith Lee, a popular sci-fi/fantasy author, recently deceased (RIP). This is soothing and a nice change from some of the speed/thrash metal I often listen to. Harkens back to early Wishbone Ash for me.
Very interesting. Got a classic metal/power/maiden a la early 80’s vibe. They look the part as well. Think that one dude has 70’s platform shoes on. The production sounds analog like it was recorded on an old Tascam 4 track recorder lol. Dope!
nice epic 70s-early 80s retro metal. I'm trying to think of who they remind me of specifically, I hear a really big Iron Maiden influence (the gallops and the kinds of harmonies) but there's some other stuff in there too I can't quite put my finger on.
So...it’s like Hawkwind meets Blue Oyster Cult with light power metal influences? Anyone else feel like this woulda been played in the background of an old AD&D game?
Not bad at all! Nice early (Heavy) metal tone. Very well made in that aspect and the song itself has a good pace and some solid old school riffs. Vocals, both male and female, are fitting perfect for this genre.
@@squashedeyeball I WAS interested in the late 70's early 80's ......doom metal then, was original, loved it. Cirith Ungol, Saint Vitus, Sabbath, Blue Cheer, etc. etc. Loved it back then. It's now almost half a century later.... time to throw on another record.....yes please & thanx!

exactly my first thought, but sounding like ashbury is not a bad thing.....and there are many other influences to hear, like early scorpions, uriah heep, wishbone ash...cool song, looking forward to the album...
It sounded so promising until the woman started singing. I have never listened to this band before and I was so hoping she was the bass player or something. Don't get me wrong she had a good voice but it just does not work here. Females voices in any kind of Heavy metal music just do not work! Especially a soft voice like she has. I'm Sorry I know that is going to rattle some cages but you know I am right. Heavy metal music was spawned from male aggression. It needs to have a strong powerful voice to go with it. The same is true with other genres of music. For example in the movie "The Blues Brothers" When Jake and Elwood were singing song "Stand by your man". It sounded weird and funny because that song was intended to performed by a female voice.
@@zztosha That was the lamest excuse for an insult. Surely you can do beter than that. I listened to it again and it's like listening to Karen Carpenter singing with metal music in the background. It doesn't work.

Awesome that Metal Blade signed these guys. They remind a lot of Ashbury. Folky 70s rock vibes with that twist of epic metal.
Yes! Ashbury vibes! Cover reminds me also ...

This album is excellent from start to finish!!
Here listening over a year later! This album is still in my top 5 of 2019. I can't wait to hear where they go next. Tanith rocks!
Nice!!!! I can't wait for the album now!! And great artwork!!
extraordinary guitar work
Feels like 1970s, great
One of the best songs I´ve heard recently. Good job and keep it up!

Loving this. Really waiting for that first album.
very good song. excellent details. simply beautifu
Awesome new band from Brooklyn, NYC
I would put these guys in the Visigoth category. That means I like it.
My first thoughts too! great fucking music!
Sort of. The music does but the vocals It lack the raw power of Jake Roger's voice.
The male voice reminds me of Meatloaf Michael Lee Aday.
That vocal work though! This is impressive you guys! I can hear a Black Mountain influence. 🤘
Damn! Some nice guitar work here fellas
Very rocking tune!!!
So cool! Really like it!
TANITH FIRST AND ONLY
Discovered this the day after I created a new Dungeons and Dragons character called Tanithil. Found my characters soundtrack!
I play dnd also. We are in the dark sun campaign setting. I am a mul fighter
I would like to play a more traditional setting at some point though.
I'm planning tu use this music as background for my DnD game too haha. I0m the paladin :v

I braved the bitterest ocean waves
And walked through wind and snow
And all the while I could feel a force
Surround me it's glow

Follow the light of the north Star

I kind of wanted it to be a tribute to the ghosts.
I love how their first EP is named after the Citadel paints haha

Not realy my kind of music, but the production on this is just fantastic! Really organic and live-sounding.

Is this the same recording as the 7"?.... This sounds almost IDENTICAL. I can't be the only one who thinks this.
my names tanith lol rock on!! 🤟
Reminds me a lot of Winterhawk mixed with Coven.
Got to listen the EP some months ago, Im fucking glad MB signed them. They are awesome

Being Tippins on it I'm not surprised but damned this shit sounds good!
Oh cool a full album
