A camp neighbor started hand feeding a fawn that got lost (I thought), but the mfer brought back friends hahaha 😂 It's a whole thing with their kids and it's been years, now we have bucks (rarely) and does. A few make winter camps! They also trim the firs which is nice and makes it "pretty". I thought it was bad at first, but they seem independent, although grateful for the food and safety. I'm still a bit worried they are "denaturing" them and their offspring, but the neighbors are happy so who am I to judge.
Deers can really surprise you with their behavior. One came into my yard, not scared of me watching it, then I made sure it got back to the woods. It's a beauty.

There are rules, depending on the area being hunted and the number of animals in any given area. MOST hunters also have a heart😊. They are not trying to eradicate the species and future food.
Plus, also the fact that animals don’t see colors the same way humans do. With deer, you gotta be worried about making sound, motion, and scent. Everything is grayish to deer.

As a 15 year old boy hunting, I had a similar experience. I had a doe permit. I couldn't harvest her or her fawn. I felt we bonded. I watched them through the full season, and couldn't break that bond. I didn't need the meat at that time. Great memories.

As a 15 year old boy hunting, I had a similar experience. I had a doe permit. I couldn't harvest her or her fawn. I felt we bonded. I watched them through the full season, and couldn't break that bond. I didn't need the meat at that time. Great memories.
