    Music by Deborah Edwards
Debbie and I have worked collaboratively for some years now. Debbie responding to my painting and me responding to her music. On this occasion I had done a largish abstract - acrylic on paper. I wasn't entirely happy with it so went around with a viewfinder isolating sections. I cut out the sections that worked and sent them to Debbie. She then composed short piano pieces to go with each painting.
We subsequently got together and discussed each of the paintings, listening to the music for each one to decide on suitable titles. We looked at the different rythms and flow of the colours, shapes and textures. Did they suggest rapid movement or slow, footsteps or a gentle elegant progression. Did they emit a feeling of anger, or a feeling of calm? Panic, acceptance, tripping,
    sliding, joy, confusion?
All these movements and moods are reflected and, in some cases, accentuated in the music as it weaves its way through each painting, bringing extra depth to the overall effect and mood of the art.
