Just found you. New subscriber. This is just fantastic. It’s soft but dynamic! I’ve switched from acrylics to oils, and I have a lot of acrylic paint I’d love to use. I’d love to try your technique, but I’m sure I missed some valuable steps, thanks to RUclips. Did you get the texture by using the catalyst and flat brush possibly? Thank you for sharing, Karen. Gorgeous!
Hello, thanks for your comment and subscribing to my channel. I work in acrylics exclusively. I like the way they dry quickly so I can go on the next layer. I use a lot of different tools to move the paint around and mainly use a flat brush. Some of the texture you're seeing may be the oil pastel toward the end. I have over 60 videos so you may find them useful. Happy painting!
incredibIe. do you work on raw canvas in order for the water to have that effect on the paint? i painted on a piece of masonite that was primed first. when i used a spray bottle over the paint, it lifted up completely.
I love this also and it's inspiring as always! Would you tell us what your favorite brushes are, especially the large ones? Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for you comment, Cindy. I use a variety of brushes from very inexpensive ones for Walmart to pricey ones like Isabey. House painting brushes work too.
Ma'am a beautiful work of art. Your vision is very creative. Can you please explain something about the color, technique used. It will be very helpful for a me as I want to learn it.
Thank you for your comments and for watching the videos. These are meant to be a glimpse into my process and not a tutorial although many people tell me they find them useful. If it is helpful for you the speed can be adjusted by using the cog wheel in the lower right of the video. The canvas I use is double primed with gesso and in this particular painting I used an underpainting of gold metallic acrylic paint.
I love your paintings! What are you painting with? It looks like you scrape the paint on with a plastic. Do you use a medium to help keep your paints fluid?
Thanks for the comment, Vicki. I use a number of found tools that are not necessarily artist's tools. You can apply, move, and remove paint with any number of things like a credit card, cardboard, trowel, plastic, rubber, catalyst wedge, shaper. I mainly use water not a medium.
Thanks for the comment. I try to stay within the youtube guidelines and even at that my videos are too long. I put them at double time to get more content. The average person is engaged for just 2 min. You can slow the speed by clicking on settings button on the lower right corner of the video. I hope this helps.

Hi Karen, really love watching your technique and the painting is beautiful. Can you tell me if its a pastel that you are using at the end?
Thanks for watching, Trishy. Yes, I used an oil pastel.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. So discouraging. My canvas is triple primed and I haven't had a problem.

Just discovered your work - lovely! Were you using a chalk pastel at the end? Or what was the drawing implement?
Thanks for the comment, Laurel. What you are seeing is chalk pastel.
Amazing
Ma'am a beautiful work of art. Your vision is very creative. Can you please explain something about the color, technique used. It will be very helpful for a me as I want to learn it.
Did you gesso it to create any texture before you started to paint? The first layer was white and then the second was gold?

For this paint did you use oil chalk ?
No oil pastels in this piece.
A painting as original as the soundtrack. 20/20 and skittles.
Thank you.

You go fast, tools not always obvious, colors come and go, hard to follow! Some narration would be nice.

I never realised how much RUclips push for control until recently! It is all about money in the end sadly.
