What is your opinion on backlink , is it important should i start building backlinks for a new site .

Backlinks are critical to SEO success, though can be expensive and time consuming to generate.
This experiment was mainly to see if Google would rank my site WITHOUT backlinks. They will, but I would've gotten much more traffic if I did backlinks.
