    Beijing-Shanhai now won't be busiest plane route anymore, the high speed train take over is really fast. 600+ sets of train in both direction daily, 4-6 hours one way travel time. Busan is the same thing because you didn't count the KTX into the play.

    Attended a conference on Jeju in July. Beautiful area! I don't completely understand the lack of any flights from ICN though. I get Gimpo is much more of a domestic hub, but it is time consuming for international visitors to get off at ICN, get on a train (or bus) for ~45 minutes, and re check-in and go back through security at GMP. If it's a ploy to get tourists to spend time in Seoul, it worked, but it made my trip as a whole more time consuming and expensive. Having a small handful of the zillion gmp-cju flights leave from ICN instead would've smoothed the trip and connection out significantly.

    • @GamingContentStuff
      @GamingContentStuff Месяц назад +11

      ICN has WAY too many problems for flights to Jeju.The entire right and left wing of ICN is owned by Korean and Asiana Airlines, so they would have to use the central section of the airport, which is expensive, and is too mall to handle the capacity.

    • @browniemaker801
      @browniemaker801 Месяц назад +9

      I heard the government strategically limited the roles of each airport. When ICN opened, all the international routes were moved to ICN and only short int'l routes and domestic routes remained at GMP. Plus GMP has curfew so it seems logical I guess. But yeah I don't understand why there is no ICN-CJU flight...? like they have something called 내항기 that connects ICN to other domestic airports.

    서울에서 제주도로 가는 루트는 4가지 정도를 생각해볼 수 있습니다.
    1. 도로 : 영상에서도 알려진 바와 같이, 현재 제주도와 한반도 본토는 연결된 다리가 없습니다.
    2. 철도 : 영상에서도 알려진 바와 같이, 마찬가지로 제주도와 한반도 본토를 잇는 해저 터널이 없습니다.
    3. 배 : 한반도 남부 지역에서 제주도를 운항하는 배는 현재 운행하고 있습니다. 약 3~4시간이 소요됩니다. 한 편, 인천(서울)에서 제주도로 가는 야간 페리도 존재하였으나, 2014년에 침몰된 이후 노선이 소실되었습니다. 최근 노선 운항을 재개하였으나, 이 침몰 사건을 아직도 기억하고 있는 한국인들이 많아서 자주 쓰이는 루트는 아닙니다.
    4. 항공 : 남은 건 이것 밖에 없습니다. 속도도 빠릅니다. 빠르면 45분 정도면 도착할 수 있습니다. 굳이 다른 걸 이용해야할 이유를 모르겠군요.

    The NYC/New York/JFK to London (Heathrow) route. I've known folks who fly that route for a Friday-through Sunday 'weekend vacation' in London. Its about a 4-hour flight, faster than NYC to the USA's west coast. A lot of NYC folks also fly to London for Christmas shopping trips. And Paris was only about a half-hour longer flight. Like Seoul/Jegu its another interesting travel route.
    Another that used to be popular is surfers on the USA west coast would fly to Hawaii (5 hour flight from Los Angeles or San Francisco) for a Thursday-Sunday surf trip if they knew some good waves were going to be hitting the Hawaiian shoreline.

    To summarize, as you can see on the map, Jeju Island is not a land under the Korean Peninsula, but an island, so roads or railroads are not connected. There is a way to drill the undersea tunnel, but it is not easy because the distance is surprisingly long. In the case of Busan, the second city, there is little need to take a plane because the railroad is well installed, while the way to go from Seoul to Jeju Island is by boat or plane. However, because airplanes are cheap and much faster, people traveling from Seoul to Jeju Island or from Jeju Island to Seoul use this Gimpo-Jeju route a lot. In particular, Koreans are busy because they like to travel very much. Of course, recently, they have not traveled to Jeju Island as much as before in Korea, but they still do a lot, so the title of the world's busiest air route is rarely broken.

    This is really interesting point implying why the number between GMP and Jeju is the highest in Korea. It is related to the system of high-speed train, KTX.(It is same with TGV in france)
    There are 3 representative way to go fro Seoul to Busan. The bus, the train including KTX and the flight. The first takes about 6 hrs, the second does about 2.75hrs for KTX or 5~6hrs for non high speed and the last does over 1 hr. It is sure that the last is the fastest way but the price would be 1.5 ~2 times higher than KTX
    It seems that the price looks reasonable. But you can go to Busan much more often. There are over 20 KTX trains per a day to Busan.
    Also the KTX was open and first adopted 20 years ago, 2004. I remembered that the price was quite high and non affordable to everyone. It could be a gossip to your schoolmates that you took KTX once or much more times. However, Gdp per capita increased over double. Also the ticket of price doesnt show dramatic increase. Im not sure of exact number but it might be only about 20% increase from 2004 to now. The growing demand of corporating one-day life, relative low price and increased personal wealth skyrocketed the usage of KTX and thats why the fligh from Seoul to Jeju is kinda low

    • @waikelehawaii4409
      @waikelehawaii4409 Месяц назад

      That is NOT native Hawaiian pronounciation. The Hawaiian language does not have the letter "V". The correct pronunciation is with the letter "W". As the story goes, when caucasian missionaries came to Hawaii, many were of German descent and they brought their pronounciations with them. Pronounciations which were adopted by and encouraged by the monarchy at the time thinking that the Caucasians were "so much smarter and more advanced, they certainly must be right." Soon, using the "V" sound for the "W" became seen as one who was more cultured and aristocratic. Fortunately, we have come to realize that this was ugly colonialism at its worst and have reverted (mostly) to pronouncing words as they are spelled. For irrefutable evidence, do a Google search for "captain cook Owhyhee map". It will show a map by Captain Cook's cartographer made back in the 1700's before any known western contact and it illustrates the name of the Big Island being spelled "Owhyhee". Cook's cartographer used the phonetic spelling as he heard it from the native Hawaiians and used the letter "W". Since the British also had the letter "V", if that's how the cartographer heard it, that's how he would have written it, but he didn't because he heard it with the "W" sound.@@Broadvay

    Pronouncing Hawaii "Hah Veh Ee" is like speaking in English but saying "Paree" (Paris), "Mooonchen" (Munich) or "Masskva" (Moscow). "Oh but it's pronouncing it the CORRECT way" - uh no, in English, it's Hawaii. The Turks recently told the world to stop calling them Turkey and instead Turkiye (Turr-key-yeah). Funny, as they continue to call England > (WRONG and OffenSiVe!!!) Different languages have different ways of pronouncing and naming places, and that is okay. Hawaii is pretty similar to Hahvahee, it doesn't achieve anything other than false virtue.
