Best part of the video was when you finally slid that beam into place and leaned on it for a second. I completely felt the sigh of relief and the sense of accomplishment along with you. Awesome job man. I feel like I'm there with you on this build.
My goodness what determination and skill. Thank you for sharing you're wonderful talent and your beautiful new Log Cabin with all of us on this video. God bless💗
Wonderful job, so happy for you and you accomplished it all by yourself. Your ingenuity got it done, as my mama would say "where there's a will, there's a way". I understand your feeling, such a great feeling of getting the cabin built. Stay safe, be careful, take it easy and keep warm. Congratulations from NC, USA
You're doing a great job! Stay wherever it is you are because I work my ass off and I could never keep up with you! That is a huge accomplishment not many other people can say they can do. I'm happy I stumbled on your videos. You and your family should be proud!
No extra talking, dedication, quality building and ofcourse the sauna. 😁 Is there more finnish than that? Great video ones again! Keep posting.🙂 Hyvää duunia.
Good work. Don't forget the evergreen on the ridge beam, symbol of good luck. In the US it is called "topping out" usually followed by a little party. I think it started in Scandinavia maybe Germany, wherever, you deserve a little party anyway.
It's a Finnish tradition, and I wouldn't be surprised if it came to US with Finnish settlers. We call it harjannostajaiset and it's a small celebration party you used to have after you nailed the last ridge board in place. We still hold those parties after the roof is done even if it's a modern high-rise building.
I'm aware of the celebration when the ridgepole is in place (harjannostajaiset), but to be hones I have never seen the evergreen tradition in finland. However that doesn't mean there's not such a tradition in Finland :)
That is called The Easy Does It And Get The Job Done Method. It is nice to see you happy and smiling! Are you going to be making some 'furniture' for the cabin? Ice cream is a nice way to celebrate lifting and placing the ridgepole!
Really high quality of craftsmanship in what you are doing. Till one actually tries to form the beams you are doing, you can’t appreciate the effort. Keep it up.
20. April and there is snow to see and in Germany is since 16. March sun and dry and temperature in the middle of 20 degrees. yesterday 24 degrees during the day
Hello! Great video! I would like to make the same cabin, but for a sauna here in Czech Republic. I wondered if you could tell me the exact measure of your beam section. I have some beams 12x12 cm, would it work? Thanks a lot!!
@Finnish Playground Thanks, I hope to start building it during nex summer or next fall, then if you like I'll send you some pictures. Another question if I can, what do you think best way to joint and to build inside walls connected with external logs ? Last question...friend of mine here in Czech, watching your video tonight, told me that these kinds of joints were first used in old times by Valachian people that live here on mountains between Czech Republic-Slovak-Hungary, I know that your language is Hungar-Finnich so could it be ?
valmiita höylähirsiä ostettu vissiin metritavarana, rahaa tuntuu olevan enemmän kuin järkeä. no helppoahan se noin on tuon tekee noilla hirsillä silmät kiinni vaikka 7 vuotias lapsi.

Hello from Estonia!
Congratulations!! Time for a harjakais-beer, I would say 😅🍺 What dimension did you mill the logs to? Thickness & height?
Thanks! Logs are 10x20cm.
well done worthy builder very small is so much trouble land 2 × 2
hello make a video and explain in mm how you cut the wood diagonally please nice success
Nice crafstmanship and quality build!
What kind of handsaw are you using, is it Fiskars?
I'll guess it's a bahco brand. Looks like it.
To be honest, I don't know. Something that had a big discount :)
Красавчик!!!!!

Молодец мужик.
20. April and there is snow to see and in Germany is since 16. March sun and dry and temperature in the middle of 20 degrees. yesterday 24 degrees during the day
And today it was snowing again a lot 😬
@@FinnishPlayground We call this days 11 at 15. May Ice saints (Eisheiligen) and today is 12 degrees in germany, thats cold. Wind from North
Bravissimo 👍👍👍
You can be proud
How is your floor set up? Are you using joists off the base logs?
Here's a video about the floor joists: ruclips.net/video/y11kWdMxxUM/видео.html
Curious, what brand hand tools are you using they to be very high quality.
Whatever I can get :) Mostly Makita though.
@Finnish Playground Am particularly interested in the hand saws they look of high quality. Really enjoy the precise work you do.
Ihan uteliaisuuttani kysyn, löysittekö pyyttonikäärmettä veistojätteen seasta? :D
Ei vielä ainakaan näkynyt, mutta hyviä kysymyksiä kyllä riittää. Kuivalihaa kun laittelin häkkiin, niin kysyi teenkö pupuansaa :D
Harjakaispäivä! 👍
what's the purpose of taking the outside layer of the log again? 4:07
Aesthetic reasons and the wood also becomes more durable against the moisture.

I think it would work very well, but you need to make quite many corner joints 😊 Maybe you can choose something easier than dovetail.
@@FinnishPlayground Thanks a lot for your answer. Sorry for bothering, but, then, would it be better if I used logs 20x10cm? Thank you!!
@@francescovendrame680 My logs were 20x10cm. It makes building faster obviously and less places for heat leaking.
@Finnish Playground Thanks, I hope to start building it during nex summer or next fall, then if you like I'll send you some pictures. Great Video Can you tell me the brand name of the hewing axe you are using.
Hi, I ordered it from a blacksmith, so it's handmade.
@@FinnishPlayground Thankyou
👍👏
I like the look of those boots you're wearing. Can you tell us the brand?

Poles run vertical, beams run horizontal. Just saying.
