A great video David. I love that era of cards 1984-1986 the designs were so good. 84 Topps is awesome, I love collecting the Tiffanys. Such a slick design. Very cool you had Gwynn in here, I did a little tribute to him on his birthday. I've visited his statue when I was in SD. Didn't know about Tony Gwynn Day, what a great idea! First 3 on the list all non HOFers, I love it! So many overlooked players from this era that need the love, excellent job David!
Thanks, Sammy! Yes, 1985 rocks, too, great checklist, too. I love 1986, but that checklist is sparse. Great design tho. A little like 1985 Topps Football. I saw Gwynn statue in SD, too! That’s the my favorite park, by a wide margin, but I’ve never been to San Francisco, which I hear is still the best.
Good call. I’m actually thinking about buying a box of that Topps Archives “The Rookies” and doing a break on the channel with like 4 or 5 other viewers. Thoughts? It would be like $25-$30 each I think.
@@DavidGonos awesome do it, i have the set! when that set came out i couldn't wait to get it. like you had said in one of you videos i hope topps will make the missing rookies of nfl and nba. Josh Allen and Dak would be sweet.
Love this year! I clearly remember, in the mid to late 80’s, actively coveting those red hot rookies of Donnie and Straw! I’ve really wanted this card as gem because of its iconic status during my youth, and have subbed 4 Mattingly’s, but no luck yet. Totally agree about Rose, by the way. Great video, David, thanks. I enjoy being reminded of the cards of the stars and rookies through this series.
Thanks, Scott! This was a fun year to do for sure. My Mattingly and Strawberry cards are beat, no chances of high grades, but it’s mostly cuz I hugged them a lot as a kid. Hahaha
love this history - it's more educational than reminiscing for me (born in 87') which I'm happy to have. Would love a Strawberry and Gooden rookie set, so much potential, chaos, and influence with these two guys. Agreed on Rose, if you're gonna elect him, elect him. Personally, I'm all for him being the the HoF. The HoF will always be tainted so let's not pretend otherwise and let the best ones in regardless. Regardless we'll remember their flaws, the questions and controversies surrounding them, etc. Gwynn day is awesome, I loved "pure hitters" growing up and there's almost no one better than Gwynn there.
Thanks, Angelo! I agree, the HOF is already tainted, so why act like it’s a prestigious place for only perfect people. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for commenting!
This is cool design which makes this series neat bc you can see designs you may not have. I don’t own any of these listed but Nolan Ryan was a sweet card. The Tony fun fact was cool, maybe an under appreciated career i never realized how great of hitter and athlete he was. Excited for the continuation of this series especially 1987 was a good year Bonds, McGwire i count it his rookie and year of my birth 😁
That’s a good question - I’m not dying to do breaks, only because I hate handling other people’s cards. Haha, if I do free cards and they get mishandled, well , it’s free. But I’ve thought about doing a break for regular viewers for sure.
You may want to watch that ‘81 series again
Watch the ‘81 series?
Si , señor …Los Doyers beat the Yanks for the World Series that year !!

My favorite from that year is Darryl Strawberry the way it shows his is perfect and the Mattingly too is great
Yep, those two are iconic baseball cards for sure. Thanks for watching and commenting, Andrew!
Nolan of course yeah boy. Keep up the great videos
Thanks my friend
Always thought the Donnie baseball card was iconic! Great video!!!
Thanks, Jason!
great video Dave as always love 1984 personal and hobby. don't forget the basketball archives Michael Jordan's rookie is the 1984 style.

Ah, to be in the 80’s again….
Thanks for all the knowledge!
Any year with a Nolan Ryan or Roberto Clemente (or both) is my favorite and most wanted cards.
Nice, two great ones for sure.

Sweet man, good to know, all about the boggs, rickey, nolan, happy hobby

Thanks, man, much appreciated. Ooooh yeah, that ‘87 is such a fun, standout design.
Cool!
You are a natural. Keep up the great works, Dave. Frank is looking in fine fettle, BTW.
Hahaha thanks man. I appreciate you watching!
My favorites would be Nolan, all the Rickeys, Gwynn, Cal, Ryno and Murph
Nice, all classics!
Gwynn hit .371 in the 11 WS GAMES HE PLAYED. And had absolutely crap in terms of protection in the lineup around him.
That’s pretty crazy, I definitely didn’t know that stat.
Great video. Will you be doing one these videos for each year in the 80s?
Yessir, I’ll be doing one for every Topps flagship series from 1952 to 2001 (and maybe after that)!
Give me the Raines/Henderson card and I’d be happy! Pete Rose not in the Hall while he is alive is ludicrous!
Right!?! It’s crazy how petty both can be. They’re children.
Pretty cool...I have about half of them brah!🤙SHAKA
When are you going to do a buy in break?? I'm all about 1980's. Enjoy your videos.

Did you get my address????
Yes! Thanks!
I share your appreciation for the Sandberg card. I got 3 of them myself.
Holy cow! I have one - and it’s in meh shape. Haha I need to get a good one.
