If you want to base it off the sound of the spike, listen to the part when it starts to beat in 4's (right after 0:01), which seems to be 1 second each. If you defuse the spike BEFORE the 4th beat of 4's, then you'll be successful.

Also bomb timer is 10 seconds when it starts beeping 4 beeps per second. You need 7 seconds to defuse and you have 3 seconds left to start defusing at this time. 3x4= 12 beeps. As a tip, instead of counting to 12, I playing it out on my head like a metronome for music. 1 2 3 4 , 2 2 3 4 , and 3 2 3 4 for each second. Safe defusing!

-So when the bomb starts beeping fast(4 beeps per second), you have 3 seconds left to do what you gota do.
This help when you have a crunch time if you're procrastinating on getting the last frag, or if you decide to stick it(pros don't fake) It's best to go into the server and experience it first hand.

A lot of people, including me, got confused and didn't even know what "ring" to look at. But, after watching it a couple of times I noticed what you were talking about.
So, for those still confused, look at the light white circles that surround the spyke. The red arrow is pointing at it, that's why it seems kinda far from the spyke. All you have to know is that the spyke will explode if you started defusing it after the second halo/white circle appeared

thanks ur answer finally made sense after reading it few times, i noticed i had to take it very litterly when i looked at the red arrow, im colourblind so i didn't noticed the light white halo circle around the spike before watching it combined reading your comment alot of times. Anyway i finally got it thanks!
All I know is once cracks begin to form then you cant defuse the spike anymore. Sound cue also kind of tells you if it is possible but this is new info for me. Nice tip!

@@deadskull1411 The First Circle ring thingy will appear when the bomb is about to expload, go test plant on your game and watch it until the First small circle appear then try to defuse it

If you count the beeps, it's 12 beeps of the fastest after that you can't defuse

Other channels would drag this out for 2-5 min
You can also base it off the sound, it gets faster at different marks. At the 30 second mark, 20 second mark, 10 second mark, and at the 5 second mark. You should learn the differences because it can make a huge impact on whether or not you can successfully defuse, as it takes 7 seconds to defuse. I usually just listen to the 10 second mark and rely purely on memory for knowing when it's at 7 instead of trying to count it, but as long as you can find where the mark for 10 is, and the difference between it and the 5 second mark, it becomes much easier to tell as you don't even have to look at the spike to know. (Also account in how long it'll take you to run over to it)
I would also like to add, although it is useless most of the time, when the spike defusal is already half, you can still defuse it up until the same white circle disappears.

Look at the white circles animation surrounding the spyke. If you start defusing after the outer/second one appeared, the spyke will explode
try out yourself in the retake mode in range.
ANOTHER WAY: if you count the fast beeps, as long as you start defusing by the 13th fast beep, you will be fine

There is a way by counting ticks. Where you count the last few ticks. 1 1 1 1 when it speeds up
Count 1234 1234 1234 ticks and as long as you defuse before the fourth set of 1234 sound comes out, you win.
Because when the spike ticks the fastest at the last moment, you have 10 seconds to defuse. It takes 7 seconds for full defuse.
So as long as you defuse before the fourth set of 1234 sound appears, the 1, you win.
a sidenote from my calculations. that ring appears at 6.7 seconds. the bomb radius is around 36 metres. so if ur at 36 metre from the bomb (ping the bomb) ull be safe. it is 3 metres outside the noise circle radius
finally, now people in my lobby wont be so confused as to how I get the defuse at the last second

I think the agents actually say another dialogue when you can't defuse. For example Viper in this video says, "I can't die here." when the defuse was successful and when it was going to explode/failed attempt, she said, "Shit shit, come on." I think you can tell by this too.

Also the really fast beeping starts at 5 seconds before it blows up and it take 7 seconds to defuse so you can estimate it with the thing that moves up. Should be slightly less than 1/3 of the way up before the fast beeping starts.
Noticed that ring early on in Val, but there are still people to this day even at Diamond+ ranks who don't know about it lmao.

No, each agent has their own line when they resume defusing.
Examples include Phoenix saying "all good, all good", Jett saying "This... is nothing" or Killjoy saying "Imagine if I died right now, so funny".

Spike lasts for 45 seconds and beeps once a second for the first 25. When there is 20 seconds left it starts beeping twice a second, and when there is 10 seconds left it beeps 4 times a second. It takes 7 seconds to fully defuse, meaning from the time it has 10 seconds left, you can difuse for as long as it beeps less than 12 times, or 3 groups of 4 beeps.

An extra tip, that doesn't require you to see the bomb:
The fase before ground breaks, the spike beeps exactly twice a second. In this fase, exactly 6 seconds (a.k.a. 12 beeps) can pass, before you are too late

Another good tactic is to listen to the beeps and you will be successful if you start defusing before the third set of beeps.
If its halved, before the big sphere dissapears, then you can still defuse

I feel like this is useless during a clutch case or any ingame case cuz you don't have the time to look for small details like this, you just play until you eventually get a feel for it and start automatically knowing if you have or don't have time.

I have listened to the pace to determine whether I could defuse or not as well! usually, if the bar makes it halfway into the first half of the defuse bar before its final cycle of beeping, I can defuse it, but eggwicks tutorial here will make things a lot more easier
