I watched your video on the pump for pumping the gas. The next day I ordered one on Amazon. That thing is the greatest piece of Kit I have in my shop. For 64 years, I have been trying to fill up my ATVs and motorcycles and cars using the little spout on the gas can and it is always dumping gas all over the place. With this little Gadget you can pump your gas and not lose a single drop wonderful piece of Kit thanks for sharing it with us. I hope you have a great day Roland.
Thanks for the good video. I have ordered the battery powered pump and the Yamaha petcock. I was having same issues as you and started by cleaning the carburetor but it still coughs at idle. I’m going to try the new petcock now. The battery pump is going to be awesome to drain gas out of my antique tractors in the fall so that I don’t get issues with old gas in spring. Thanks for sharing that trick. Good to see someone still running and looking after an Eiger too. I was going to sell mine but now I think I’m going to keep it.
thank you so much ordered the same part and drove a 03 suzuki ozark today thats been sitting for 6 months with this problem tried everything and a 11 bucks part fixed it thanks again
Order 1 for the Raptor 660. Same bolt pattern and do away with the vacuum line. Why do you need a fuel pump when the tank is directly over the carb. Another 1 of those great engineering ideas I suppose.
Thanks for the info. I have a 2007. Its doing the same thing that you had said. I talked to people and the dealer said bring it in. Dealers know what wrong but they won't fess up. Just bring it in and we will look at it, NOT. I had checked out everything and it still had the same problem. Now I'm going to go replace it. Great video. Thank you for the info.
live in Stirling and this is great. changing my petcock today and will let you know how it goes. If it does not work, can I hire you to check out other problems? I have the same ATV. mine is 2004 as well.
I have a problem with my fan not working as well, I am going to try this first because it;s spitting and sputtering and hesitating and i just bought one has 185 miles on it and sat for awhile what else could be the problem
I just did the same thing to mine today. It will start fine, with choke open (lever down) but will hesitate and die beyond half choke. I can’t seem to fully close the choke (lever up) as you did without it dying. It seems to want to idle faster as well. I DID notice that I didn’t plug the old vacuum line. Would that have anything to do with it? I drained the tank and added fresh (preserved/stabilized) gas but to no avail. Any suggestions?
Yeah plug the vacuum line it is sucking air and leaning out the mixture. When you choke it its getting enough fuel to run. So yeah just cap or plug the vacuum line it will run better.
@@GettingItDoneRepairs hey my 2004 suzuki Eiger was having problems starting. Mine was flooding its self bad. My petcock went bad and it was sucking fuel through the vacuum line. I just plugged it with a bolt for now im gonna buy the petcock showed in the video. It runs like new and idles great.
Changed out my petcock, now I have no more starting issues, but I still have bad idle issues, and when I throttle, I have to throttle up slowly otherwise ATV will die. Wondering if I need to service carburetor?
@@GettingItDoneRepairs if a carb kit wont solve issues, give up on it and flip in an aftermarket carb for a TRX450 ( Foreman 450 1999-2004 ) and it will work like a dream. you might need to grind out a tiny bit of clearance on the mid bracket ( of 4 I have done 1 needed some grinding ) Both of my Eigers, 2004 and 2005 have the petcock and the carb swap. and are trouble free
Thanks for the video. Great explaination and very helpful. I've ordered a cheap one for only $13 on Amazon and mounted it on a Suzuki QuadMaster 500, year 2001. But I had to fit it backward and use a longer hose. Meaning the petcock's front is not visible, though it still accessible with fingers. I needed to installed it backward because the gas line that starts from the bottom of the carburetor and needs to be fit on the new petcock output, was oriented towards the left side. So, I would had to twist the hose to bring it to the right side of the petcock, which would had cause the hose to fold and blocked. Also, the muffler is very close, so bringing the hose on the right side would probably had cause burning/metling issues. I blocked the hose used for the primer line of the original petcock (the hose that goes to the top of the carburator and oriented right side) with a simple bolt and tie wrap. 30 minutes and the job was done.
Great video. I’ve got the same Eiger and same problem. I ordered that Yamaha petcock, but the fuel line size was smaller on the Yamaha part than the original. Does a clamp take care of that, or did I order the wrong part somehow?
Used the same petcock, have the exact same atv and problem. Didn’t work. The yamaha petcock had a slightly different size gap between the bolt holes, causing one of the bolts to cross thread or not thread at all. Not to mention, the thing was missing one of the filters it needs straight out of the package. Now I’m concerned I’ve flattened my threads and will have to re-tap the threads.
Very good video though. Glad to know this is pretty common. I’ve got no idea why yours worked so well and mine didn’t but I fooled with one bolt for 45 minutes. I also noticed that the flat surface of the petcock where the gasket presses against the tank is much smaller than the Suzuki OEM petcock. Either way... good video. I’ll get it fixed now that I know where to begin.
The worst thing about Suzuki's diaphragm is that if it develops a hole then the entire contents of your gas tank will drain through your carburetor down into your crank case. This happened to me and I replaced the petcock on both of my Eigers.
Hi, nice video, thanks for [posting it.I called my local Yamaha dealer and gave him that part number and he said it wasn’t no good an he wanted to know what year it was, do you happen to know what year Yamaha petcock will work?
my 2003 Suzuki LT-Z400 has the same issue...and has the same/similar 'vacuum petcock'. It's not allowing fuel to properly flow to the carb....i'm going to replace the petcock with an ebay one that is simply gravity fed and hopefully that will cure the problem. I've already cleaned the carb.
Thanks for the vid! Muy suzi is kinda spittin n sputtering at idle and doesn't seem to want to run well without choke partially on. Ordered the petcock on Ebay for 8 bucks!
Please help I have Eiger 400 2003 Replace carburator but still dies when hot Or after i run it about 20 minutes Never fail to stop after running a while What do i have to do What part do i need to rrplace ???

my 2002 would not idle and i just bought a petcock off Amazon and it fixed the problem! Runs like a champ now.......
Great!
Why didn't you just use your original petcock in the PRI mode? That bypasses the diaphragm portion and works like the one you bought.

Sir i have a 2005suzuki eger 4x4 400 getting realy to push snow for the first time with it you have any pointers for a guy
Yes go watch my videos on my channel about plowing snow
I replaced the petcock with a OEM part. It starts and runs well but only with choke on and it idles high? Do you know what I should do to fix this?
I've seen people address this problem by running the stock petcock on prime setting.
I have a quadrunner like yours. It starts and runs but when the engine gets hot it stalls and won't start until it cools down. Can you help?
i should bring my eiger to you to fix...probly a 20 min drive from newcastle?
What is the pump you purchased? Thanks
This is a lifesaver! We use our quad to clean horse stalls and bring the waste out of the barn, if this works then no more wheel barrows lol
I hope it works out for you.
my yamaha big bear will start with choke on but will not idle without it. I realize carb is not getting enough fuel but how can I correct the problem

Using a glass fuse to plug a vaccuum line would have been a big mistake, if it broke youd be sucking glass into the engine.
