Carlos State Park is my favorite state park, we visit often. My son lives a few miles from there so visit all year around

A must see in downtown Alexandria is the Runestone Museum. They have the Kensington Runestone which is controversial, as it purports that the Vikings were in the Alexandria area in the year 1362, a full 130 years before Christopher Columbus.

A lot of folks are using the Aputure AL-M9. Super small and bright. Like $45. I bet it might fit your needs. It's not going to give you complete light, but enough filll light to highlight the things you want to show.
