I loved being a young adult in the 80s, this song one of my favs and always on my playlist. Yes definitely listening to in 2024. Best regards from Western Australia 🏖️
Graduated in Indianapolis in 1980 remember the words and the crazy days we lived through still here in Wisconsin loving it like like it is 1980 again 😊
Back in the late 70s I was in the army in Colchester, Steve and Robbie lived close to the barracks I was in. I knew Steve from the record shop where he sold me too many punk records and Robbie form a jeans shop in town. Sadly after leaving the army I moved away and slowly contact was lost, well when your young you think you will always be mates, in my heart they are still mates despite not seeing them for over 40 years.
My favorite 😍 song of all time!! I first heard this song in the movie “Valley Girl”” with the young Nikki Cage. 40 years later , this is still my favorite ❤️ song. 😊
I always loved the song, but since I met my wife 29 years ago, it's my favorite. Every time I hear it, it brings a flood of memories, from crazy things we did to hard times we had, to children to grandchildren to losses we suffered to a world of a wonderful life we have lived, and the promise of more tomorrows. I hadn't heard it for a long time, and when I did, I thought of her and had a tear go down my cheek, and I'm a 62-year-old construction worker. This song was written from experience, and a care for life.......
So well performed all of these years later. Robbie is still rocking a great style too. They all look and sound great, going all the way back to ‘77 and still killing it!
This punk group use to be called Leper but changed its name to Modern English. They formed in England in 1979, this song came out in 1982..it's funny now this song is considered Soft Rock..hahaha...it still holds memories for all of us who "made out" to it or danced to it when it was considered Punk Rock... the 80's were awesome...
They are still fucking great after all those years its timeless, priceless, i can recall my youger days....and the vocalist looks like anthony bourdain to me..
So much college influence in the 80's, Valley Girl movie.. AARP member here and the 80"s had THE BEST music and genre influences of any decade. Love this so much!!!!!!!!!
My brother was tight with a Philly band called Witness, and they opened up for Modern English, at a club in NYC called The Trax, and at the end of the show Mick Jagger, showed up. 😛
all these musicians in perfect sync and harmony, in service to an unforgettable song.... and that drummer is the magic combo of expressive energy and tight precision.... well done
This old man remembers like it was yesterday!
I still have the same Girl when this song was new!
Married 39years so far.
