As a recent fan to ice hockey up here in Glasgow, it was great to see someone from Canada promoting the league. To be honest, before I attended my first game, I didn't realise ice hockey was as big as it was in the UK. It's great to see other teams arenas, teams and coaches all tie into the love for the game. Recommend Glasgow Clan for your next trip, hopefully a team on the rise (last nights result against Coventry aside)..
Great seeing hockey grow in the UK. I remember about 13ish years ago the leading points scorer from the Elite league came to Denmark and only played 2 or 3 games before being sent home again for not being up to the DK league level. Now I'm sure that wouldn't happen. Hopefully my fav UK team Edinburgh will get back on their feet and back into the national league (but I'm not holding my breath).
Welcome back to the UK! Sheffield have been insane last couple years and it's so cool they're making waves for rest of Europe. Hope you enjoyed your trip :)
Great vid. Will send the link to wally too, he will love the chocolate raining down. I wonder what you would have made of the storm of the 90’s that I used to go watch every week. NHL standard arena including a 17k sell out between storm and steelers one time. Great days!
I’m a fan of another EIHL team, the Dundee Stars, but I really enjoyed this, great to get an insight into the behind the scenes stuff! If you ever get the chance you should come check out a game up in Dundee, sure you’d be welcomed warmly by the fans up here!
Started going to a few games at my local eihl team Guilford Flames with my friends over the last year and it’s great. Would be sick if they could get it televised
I keep saying this on various platforms. This league needs TV. Premier Sports don't give a s**t; neither do TNT or Sky. It's beyond belief that none of the hierarchy have forced the issue.
Love to see the British game getting some love?!! Deffo deffo some lower league teams you might enjoy?!! Like my very own Milton Keynes lighting… previously elite league etc etc great supporters for sure…
We need to get you over to Cardiff - would have been a good weekend for you to have been over just gone - owners group were over so the atmosphere was amazing
Hi Robert - lovely piece. I've been watching ice hockey in Altrincham/Manchester since the 1980s. You got some really great shots from inside the rink - what's your camera/lens set up?
I am not a YTer but I have always been curious. How do YTers get insiders, and back of the house operations personnel to talk in front of camera and spill all the beans?
I mean it depends for each person. Myself, I’ve been an accredited journalist/photographer/producer working in sport since I was 15. So that credibility definitely helps but honestly if you do good work and have good intentions you can get a lot of opportunity when doing stuff like this!
I do feel bad for manchest storm. they play at one of the worst rinks I have ever had to play a game at. It is horrible there. I think if they had the money and the facilities they would stand a better chance.
'Manchester's love for hockey'? Much as I wish it wasn't the case, 99% of people in Manchester have no idea there's a pro ice hockey team in the area and most of those who do couldn't care less.
I mean there’s around 2,000 people in this video from Manchester showing their love from hockey. Yes it’s not the #1 sport in the city but it still has its fan base
How deep and skilled is English ammy hockey? They have at least two levels of professional, and it appears many of the roster is home grown Englishmen. I am surprised they have enough players to fill two levels of paid hockey. Or am I mistaken? Are the majority of the players overseas but now are naturalized English citizens?
As a EIHL fan, the majority of players are North American followed by Europeans and then a few Brits scattered in there. We could easily field a full British born British trained team for Worlds but currently we have a few dual nationalities playing. There are some great young Brits who are showing a lot of talent and it was fantastic to see Liam Kirk get drafted by a NHL team (although didn't get far). I'd say we're at the height of British ice hockey which is leading to more young Brits get into it and get trained and as much as I hate to say it, teams like Sheffield Steelers doing work in CHL is fantastic for us.

Had a few friends play in Glasgow who always said great things! Glad you enjoyed the video!!
That post game speech from the coach was A1.
Awesome indeed!
The steady escalation was perfection.
Was great to have you again Robbo, enjoy your travels and hopefully we can sign CJ again so you'll visit next year!
Thank you!
Steelers fan here but born in Manchester, massive respect for the storm! Love this doc, hoping to see more soon!😁🏒🧡

Thanks for having me!
Coach's speech at the end was money 🤣...those boys are going to enjoy themselves as they should.
Was great!
Amazing video, I wish you did a series for Storm. What an amazing journey it would be.

If you come to a Dundee stars home game the crowd is the exact same as Manchester
Good to know!

Facts, surely sky could put on a couple games a month especially midweek when there isn’t as much other stuff
Been there. Try the Sheffield Steelers - great arena and fans!

I’m leaving today to spend some time in that league!

The storm sold out the Manchester Arena back in the 90s, 18,000 people saw them beat the stealers
I've heard some great stories!
Would love to see you travel over to belfast and do a video with the Belfast Giants next 👀

As a Manchester storm fan I totally agree. Stadium, facilities, rink is shocking.
In a way they have a home advantage when they're used to the ice conditions and the away teams aren't
@@TheSwiftVolcano74 but when we play away we are not use to playing attractive hockey on the big rinks.
@Robocop01 what do you mean "on the big rinks"? the storm can play just as well away as home
@@TheSwiftVolcano74 Manchester storm have the smallest rink in the league. Hockey in Manchester is scrappy due to the size of the rink.
NHL needs to go to England
