Changed my oil again by refreshing with this video. Amount of oil actually needed is around 5 3/4 qts for my 2017 x3 28i f25 engine…thanks for posting!
I have a one-owner-before-me, 2017 BMW X3 X-Drive 280i. This is the finest car I've ever owned. It had 74K or so when I bought it in August of 2023, and I still have it in May of 2024. The oil is ready to be changed, and I just might do it myself this time. Thanks to your video, this will be straightforward. Thanks savethe8! This video of yours is a great reference! 🙂

Mark Charles so happy to hear that it was helpful for you. I hope to make more videos of other BMW maintenance items as well. There’s surprisingly a lot you can do yourself on these cars.
A helpful description however this video contains a frequently stated error when referring to bolt sizes. A bolt's size is not determined by the width of the hex head but by the diameter of the thread. It would be more appropriate to cite the use of a specific socket size to remove a particular bolt rather than saying the bolt "size" is equivalent to the width of the hex head. This isn't meant as a criticism but merely a clarification of proper terminology.
I've noticed whenever the guy at any garage does my oil he never lets all the oil drain out. Obviously he doesn't want to wait for it. There's always a spaghetti sized stream left coming out and they just plug it up and that's that. My oil's never that dirty, 2 k btw changes in 12 months. It just seems wrong to do it that way however. Is it a big deal?
Just as reference for everyone who believes german vehicles maintenance scheduling. I have a customer who has an x3 woth the 2L turbo motor. She goes the recommended 20,000km between oil changes. The car only has 40,000km on it, every time she comes in it only has 2 litres of oil left in it. They want your car to die after the warranty ends to either sell you a motor or sell you an 18,000 engine
FYI, BMW changed the oil service intervals back in 2014. They used to say 15,000 miles between changes, but backed it down to 10,000 miles, I use 8,000 miles between changes.
