@@shivg678 see considering you r interested in space research, astronomy, Astrophysics etc. Iiser r good institute for basic science and research, u ought to study other subjects too including bio ,chem in initial year then only you get chance to study physics that too not necessarily related to Space science and iist is institute for space and technology so I would suggest you to research more abt curriculum of iist and decide eventually.

The problem is you are comparing salaries of a PhD scholar abroad with full time working professionals, if you compare it with e.g- a mechanical engineer working in Switzerland with PhD scholars he/ she will have a drastic high salary comparing to the PhD salaries which is just mere above the minimum wage standards of that country… engineering is a professional degree and basic science is an academic degree you cannot compare both and nobody does even in developed economies…plus when you work at an organisation at an age of 22 you gain professional experience as well which is invaluable and if interest strikes , an engineer will go on working in r&d after MS or PhD and go for industry or academia , but in pure sciences doing a PhD is a compulsion and after all those years spent you will be anyways late in compare to engineers…

Didi, maine ISC liya hai 11th and 12th, currently I am in class 12 (pcmb)...maine plan kiya tha neet dungi aur mbbs karungi to become ob/gyn...but after this year's scandal maine hope chod di... Fortunately, humari jo head hai vo meri bio teacher hai and she did her Phd from iiser pune microbiology...unki vajah se i got to know about iiser and hv been there multiple times for visits in the lab...didi mera 11th utna sahi se nhi hua 12th im pushing alot to get good marks in boards...mere paas time kam hai aur mein kya karu?
Also aapne bola placements nahi milti yaha...mujhe bsms karna hai and then phd...abroad nhi toh in iiser only...itna long term plan kiya hai...mujhe engineering mein bilkul interest nhi hai...4 yr maths nd phy padhne se accha hai mein 2 saal maths padh lu iiser aake...can i get iiser pune with only 3 subject focus...
And mera physics ke saath bilkul nahi jamta...maths i can do it...i live in pune...agar mujhe iiser pune mila then i feel mera kuch ho sakta hai life mein...and yes i am very interested in research and i want to get in the depths of science...only chem, bio and math se iiser pune milega?

Like, how are their class timings usually, and how much free time do they get after classes? Also, I'm a PCM student, but I want a good rank in IAT, so I thought I'd cover Biology side by side. I started with Biotech, but the teacher was using a lot of terms I wasn’t familiar with-probably from previous chapters. So, right now, my plan is to finish my PCM syllabus by the end of March, then start revising PCM and begin Biology from scratch. Do you think I'll be able to do Bio properly before the IAT if I start in march? Appreciate your help!😊
