Sharing techniques to customize current action figures by painting or sculpting what is needed. Producing a figure the is either improved or just creating one from parts of other figures.
Custom BVS cape and portrait......
this base body needed some attention to detail.... after heating up the figure I painted it in ink. Then adding the shading and highlights. The gold is gold rub-n-buff.
The sculpt is custom print off eBay, I then painted it and set it lower on the neck.
The cape is cut using the original as a template... I used distressed pleather on the first cape. A smooth pleather on the other capes. Adding the pleats is important, but most important to sew them in... a wire certainly adds more dynamics..

Looks like you did the first cape differently, the shoulder pleats looked perfect!
The videos were swapped but. Still filled with imperfections… i ended up using stretch pleather - I’ll show in a later video
Nice!
Thanks!
Bro, when we getting Knightmare Batfleck custom?
Ohhh good question…. I have commissions to catch up on and my personal projects take a back seat….
This month is loaded with batman capes
I don't have an airbrush, and paint is too thick, so covers the details in the face... so, I just bought the Muff head😂
The magnet is cool and easy, (never thought of it) but you gotta glue the cowl down to close the gap between shoulders.
I haven't gotten around to customise mine yet, but the ink wash is actually a better Idea than what I had in mind. And the 1st worn out cape with the dirt was better, in my opinion.
Also, a more accurate belt would be from the JL batman. Its not so big, and in your face.
Mcfarlane could have put some effort into this figure, it was almost perfect. But the biggest injustice, was making this figure smaller than the others in the JL line. He looks out of place.
And he should have ben (pun intended) bulkier and taller.
All good points…. I dropped the magnet lower and the sculpt….looks better now
The first cape is my preferred but the second is what is being requested…
Im sure McFarlane will rerelease the figure with different proportions later on, til then I’ll work on this one…
Thanks for watching
is there a way to seat the cape farther down, so that the cowl doesn't sit that high?
I wonder if perhaps you use the pleather for the main part of the cape, and attach the thinner material from the stock cape to attach it under the cowl
You cut a hole for the neck, or cave out a section to accommodate the cape…in my case i sunk the magnet deeper
You need to fold the collar on that cape...that's why it wrinkled on your back. There are many Google images where you can find how to do it.
Thsnks for the insight, the cape doesn’t have a collar,,,, i figured it out…. I added pleats to the back of the neck libe and looks smuch better
Thanks for watching
What type of pleather are you using? Every time I get some its always way too thick, reallt struggling to get the material to even start creating!
Its cosplay material… very thin
