That's exactly why I hate this show. They take away agency from the characters. Aemond was vicious and hateful, Alicent (as well as Otto) was greedy and ambitious. None of this counts, however, because the show just goes "oh well, whoopsie, a misunderstanding" and "whoopsie, it was supposed to be a joke but dragon 🙆🙆🙆". And if the dragons are so uncontrollable, what did the Valyrians then do for thousands of years? How did Aegon I control a monster the size of Balerion for all these years without a single accident? Nah, I don't buy this half-assed excuse the show writers are giving the characters.
@@Truthaehnchen what does alicent and her father have to do with dragons? aemond was clearly attempting to scare lucerys not execute him. his dragon got pissed off and assumed she was in battle you know since vhagar used to be a war dragon, so she executed what she believed to be the enemy. luke hadn't gotten to the point of a master dragon rider you know since he was still a kid, instead letting his emotions take over which his dragon could feel and responded out of fear. what's so difficult for you to understand?

@@lisdraconis2212 it's more like the show is just another possible take on what could have happened. for example, the velaryons are pale skinned in the source but it works in the show that they are dark skinned. the show also has changes that are deliberately done and those changes are not book canon

It's 300 years of Targaryen history, he might've compiled these stories but he didn't tell them all since he wasn't there
This scene showed petty well what happens when someone sees dragons as an instrument to inflict pain. Aemond provoked Luke and Arrax. Arrax was very likely very scarred. The storm, Vhagar and taking care of his rider. Out of fright he disobayed and spit fire at Vhagar who got really mad over this. She is a dragon who has seen much war and if someone harms her she gets into defence mode. That riled up too much and the result was Vhagar munching little Arrax up. Aemond is mostly to blame as he provoked this situation by following Luke. And the inexperiance of Arrax and Luke is also to blame, but that is not their fault. Luke was just 14 years old and Arrax most likely even younger.
Vhagar is the only Dragon you shouldn’t play chase with 😂 her and Caraxes. Vhagar is old af and has seen war. It was over soon as Arrax launched that fire on her face 😭
The war had already begun long before these events. In fact, Viserys began it by appointing Rhaenyra as his heir and subsequently not replacing her with Aegon, after he was born. Rhaenys could have ended this war in that scene.

I can see why you see it that way, however, you have to consider a few things. So the war hasn’t officially started yet, Rhaenys as we have seen isn’t green or black necessarily, which is why the Greens were willing to let her live to choose Aegon as her King. By mounting Meleys and attacking the crowd attending the Kings crowning, she was letting the Greens know exactly where she sided. But, she couldn’t go the full step of kins slaying, since in fact this wasn’t an actual war yet. Also worth noting, nobility, especially Targaryens, are known for not really caring about collateral damage.
Im surprised if Nikki and Steve still watch this after the dragons death, they gave up watching Planet of the Apes cos some of Apes got killed, pathetic

Exactly, I feel like if he had gone face to face with Aemond and apologized like a man there’s a chance Aemond would’ve let it be but Lucerys laughed in his face instead. Honestly watching Aemond get rightful vengeance was entertaining and cool as.

The books are written from the pov of a Maester, a Septon and a fool. The show is considered to be the telling of what really happened.
