Watching a father and his daughters work like this together is so heartwarming. I know a lot of people are here for the lumber knowledge or for a specific person. Myself, I just like seeing series that revolve around humble, hardworking families.
When the log was rolled after the first cut, I got a little worrieds. Emerald had her leg, between the 'unbalanced log' and the frame rail. Then I remembered that this action is not a live feed, and dad will see what happened, so all is well. I enjoy watching this family and the work they do together. (Safely) -------- While I have the opportunity, let me just say - The Cold Plunges - that's crazy. 🤦♂😱🌺🌺😂
Everyone take it easy...this wasn't a log that was rolling back so violently...and there were three healthy people on it, with cant hooks and brains.....
@@samuelluria4744 Safety is no accident just concerned fans were pointing out what could be a problem we’re all involved because we’re watching It peace and love
Emerald, as a retired commercial carpenter & self taught lumberman, I have to say Avoid those pinch points! Your leg, between log & mill stand, should NEVER happen. No matter there were 2 others on the log. An injury is never worth the risk. You're too young to have a gimpy leg. Take care, keep the video's coming 😎
Well Em, you have learned how to relax in your presentation. You're not worrying about pronouncing every word exactly right or exact grammar any more. Just relaxing and letting the words flow. Excellent job.
An awesome production, cut, the beams like this in my building experience...are main support beams for floor elevations..n usually a set of steel plates are added..n bolted to the to form an " LDL" support system for upper floor stability in construction!!! Thanks for sharing this gift of talent and dedication from all 3 of you!! 👍🐺🧙♂️🦊👍
I do the exact same thing when cutting longer stuff in the woods, the trucks like not having too many short logs, and then you have several different options for lengths. 👍
Working solo, I use straps picked at a 90 degree to rotate the log sometimes, fine tune it with peavy one close. If it's a huge log, take it off and roll same way. Nice chuck of wood!
There’s nothing better then parents working with there kids ,tour parents have to be beyond happy to have there kids next to them learning and doing everything together.
You are such an inspiration in this upside down turned world. I hope in the future the world will be full of people like your family, hard working and decent people.
I loved watching you all man and woman handle that log. Jade is amazing with that saw. You are great an economizing the lumber. It does make you wonder what two 8x10x20s will be used for.
Great work Ladies and Boss man! It's smart to think ahead, because a penny saved is a penny earned. Thanks for sharing your Friday with us and have a great relaxing weekend! TTFN
I love to see you guys all pitch in. Good to see a family working toward a common goal. 2 huge beams will support a lot of weight. I enjoy watching the custom work.
At the age of 65, my friend and I set 2 8x12x20 beams on 10 foot walls, by hand. No lifts, cranes...just muscle. Seeing this video gave me flashbacks...and made my joints hurt.
Outstanding! I learned something new and interesting. The way you handle those massive logs is impressive. The clarity and detail in this video are amazing. I'm eagerly anticipating more content from you. Keep up the exceptional work!
I really enjoy your videos , nice to see a family working together. I have owned a sawmill for 25 years , worked in big high production mills , and worked in the woods logging, and I learn from all of your videos. keep up the good work.
Great video again guys! Love watching you do your thing, great to see the finished products come out of the logs and find it properly relaxing, almost meditative aswell.. nice job 👍🏴🇬🇧
i never realize what an upgrade the woodmizer 40 is to the woodmizer 15 let alone the lifting or the hydraulic operated "dogs" ? to turn the log, its just wow definitely an upgrade
A few things I noticed. Jader getting the calisthenics done at the start of the video to move that massive log! Lol👍👍. Em looking very invigorated and full of energy from cold water to roll that huge motha, and you two girls seemed to bend the ol cant hook handle much more than Bossman, rolling that log on the mill. 😃😃😃. Great video. Have a great weekend LCLY family. It’s Family day weekend here North of ya! Stay safe LCLY! 👍👍👍👍
Good to see Jade having some fun today - she always seems so serious (LOL). I was holding my breath that the log didn't roll back and pin Emerald's leg against the frame on the first flip. Great job! That is a big beam for sure!
Those are massive beams, nice to see that there were a number of additional flitches that you would be able to put into your inventory and garner additional income. Watch your leg in those circumstances Emerald , that could have been dangerous although while watching I noticed that you weren't doing the turning of the log you were holding it in place and where Ken and Jade had made their adjustments to turn the log you did get your leg out of danger.
Thanks to Jade for my mistake about her seriousness. I have laughed for her little performance. Both of you, girls are great and your whole family. "Дзякуй Джэйд за маю памылку наконт яе сур'ёзнасці. Я смяяўся з яе невялікага перфомансу. Вы, дзяўчынкі, абедзьве малайчынкі, і ўся ваша сям'я" ( Belarus language).
I sawed two 22 foot long 9" x 9" beams for a barn repair job on the circle mill . I checked the beams with a string line and framing square and had to shim it on the carriage some for mill wear with a framing square and straight line and then take shave cuts to get rid of log pull , when I was done it was straight , square and less than 1/8" in run out end to end . It didn't need to be that perfect , but since the mill didn't cut that well at long lengths I had to adjust anyway I just made it as good as possible . Them big long logs are hard to turn by hand , every thing about them is harder to do . Looks like a good beam for a barn or something else . Should be pretty square and true to size if the mill bed is level and true . That is a way easier mill to saw big long beams on as you can load it with the forks and take the beam off when done . Another good job done , keep the sawdust flying .
An older Lumber Capital Log Yard video popped up on my RUclips feed today... It was titled "Father and Son Logging Operation"... Do Emerald and Jade have an "older" brother out there somewhere..??
Whoa! Nice beam... lol , I would guess they are for a "Bridge or log home or ..." just a guess and nothing like a little bit of hard labour, lots of coffee and the skill to get er done! Wish you all the best and thank you for these entertaining and very informative info vids!
last year i helped my GC buddy mount a 8x12 rough sawn solid beam in a $180,000.00 Office rebuild . The beam took the place of 3 supports and removed a entire wall. GC has a heavy lift roll around forklift thing, crank the handle(not easy) and up it goes , and stays?? So heavy!!!
Great video Emerald! Could you explain to us what exactly makes up a board foot? Pretty safe to say those massive 20 foot beams were more than 20 board feet.
It is probably used as a support beam for a load bearing wall. Advantage being no wall support needed under the length of the beam. You could sit it on top of wall the length of board. Example if u had 2 rooms side by side 14 ft long you could use that beam to support ceiling and no walls under it there fore now having one room 14ft by 28ft. Hope I explained that.

Do not put your leg in their ,your father or sister did see ,that is when bad things happen.

I had to fast forward past that part, I didn’t want to see Emerald’s leg snapped like a dry twig. Starting at the 3:28 mark.
Surprised her father did not notice that and correct her, guess he missed it.

Also doorways 18 feet or larger. Those Combines are sometime huge.

1 BF is 1'x1'x1" thick.(144 Cubic Inches)
So a piece of wood 3"x6"X10' long is 15 BF.
The beams are 8"x10"x 20' L. = 133.33 BF Each.
