Hey! Well anywhere really, I’m on RUclips, Linked In, Instagram and TikTok. You can also email me too “contact@npo-media.co.uk” I can try although some questions you’ll need to speak to the car manufacturer about, depends what the question is! 🤓
Thanks for the look! And thanks for the dimensions in inches as well as cm. Impressive tech even over my 2023, but I do not like the trend of removing the HVAC buttons for screen buttons, even if they never move. I much prefer my HVAC controls to be accessible by physical buttons.
The global consensus is shifting toward switches and knobs for essential functions (HVAC, audio, safety) and screens for all else. The Tesla philosophy of all screen is being slowly walked back (except for Tesla).
Love the Mercedes range of cars, the tech is fantastic! Have owned a few different models and now won’t have any other car! Enjoy finding out all the extra bits you show on your channel! Many thanks Nick!
Looks great . I have the 206 C Class and equally amazing. Unfortunately for when I bought it in mid December 2023 the Zero Layer hadn’t been updated. I pointed this out to the dealership….(Not the Poole dealership to be clear) and they didn’t do anything and ignored me. I then contacted Mercedes themselves who after 2 months have also done nothing. It is such a shame the customer service after purchase does not live up to the amazing cars themselves.
Congratulations Nick for the work presented. I really like the work you present, which ranges from large to small details about Mercedes. Excellent information for the community that loves this beautiful little star that is Mercedes Benz.
Thank you to you both! I’m really picky when it comes to music for videos. I have definitely spent 40mins before trying to find the right track 😂 I went with this one in the end because of the lights in the car 😎 Might do a behind the scenes video one day!
Great video thank you. I collected my new E-Klasse Estate All Terrain 300de 4Matic on Friday last week from the customer centre in Sindelfingen. The visit to the factory was fantastic too. It’s a brilliant car, still learning the tech.. routines for voice control as you enter a car wash for example..
Yes I would always prefer physical buttons, but my own car has touch buttons on the steering wheel, you do get used to them. In fact the steering wheel in this one is the same as mine 👍🏼 But user preference after all, when I check out a car across the manufacturers I cover I now make sure to let my viewers know what’s touch buttons and what’s not (climate control, steering wheel etc)
Hi nick , i have owned this W214 for around 2 months now, it’s great. It’s the best Mercedes i have owned till date ( i also owners a 2015 GLE and 2019 GLE new MBUX and then traded up for this.) The automatic parking now detects spaces a lot faster than the another Mercedes before and it park fast, i mean scary fast you think its about to hit the other car the speed at which it backs up. The only issue I can’t figure out how close the doors with the apple car key. It opens the door automatically and you start the car without the key, but for closing i have to rely on Mercedes me app and that doesn’t work great in underground parking etc since the car needs internet access. So i end up taking the key.
Oh cool! Only had a short time with the car so couldn’t squeeze that bit in, but good to know. Thanks for sharing! I’m presuming you have pop in and pop out handles? There’s a small square on the outside that you can tap to lock it (on the handle itself)
I love this car and its tech, good car for someone like me who’s really into tech. I like the touch buttons too. I driven one of these and loved everything about it
Hi Nick, I was pleasantly surprised to see Mercedes implimenting Routines. The principle is a facility that Samsung smart phones have had for a few years. It is a wonderful tool that providing a wide range of 'automated functions' you can set your phone to carry out for a number of scenarios, at home, leave home, gym, work, shopping etc. If you search Samsung galaxy routines, youtube should show you 'Apple fan' lol, how it works. I would imagine that Mercedes are adopting it to their new editions. I kind of wish it would be retrospectively added. (wishful thinking no doubt) lol Introducing this into Mercedes is a very good idea with your vehicle carrying out your set instuctions 'functions' when certain scenarios are present. It will become more widespread I believe as the advancement of motoring tech never stands still. Looking forward to seeing what you uncover about this. Many thanks for the great videos. Keep em coming.
Another great review Nick. It’s probably my age (68) but the tech you highlighted is just not for me as I can’t see the point in it all. I just want to drive my car to get where I’m going and I never listen to music or radio or connect a phone as I find it all too distracting. It’s all too complicated and gimmicky for me and just another source of potential problems. What I do like though is driving my C class cabriolet with the top down taking in the sights, sounds and sometimes smells! of the surrounding countryside and it’s all free.😊
Thank you! But this is the thing if you go to buy the latest creation from any car manufacturer, they’ll have loads of gadgets on there. When it comes to my car for example, I certainly don’t use it all, but I do use the ones which are important to me. For the E-Class, I’m sure I could make use of some of those gadgets! 🤓🙏
@@GrrMeister I’ve no problem understanding all of the tech and agree that it all looks very pretty but I’m just not that interested in actually using much of it. When I get a new car I go through all of the menus and set up everything to display what I want to see then never touch it again, apart from the satnav which I do use. I don’t think it’s safe to be fiddling with these touch screens on the move and can’t understand how it’s illegal to touch a mobile phone but it’s OK to using these touchscreens on the move - mad.
@@GrrMeister I just can’t bring myself to talk to a car as it feels very odd. I have tried it out as a test but it’s not for me and it’s not reliable enough - maybe it’s my Scots accent! There was nothing wrong with the older style knobs and switches. it’s like everything else these days, tech for techs sake and not always an improvement in my opinion.
Dang it Nick. I was awaiting the CLE and then saw what the E Class offers. That screen is fire. I guess we will to test drive both and see. Keep up the great work.
Thank you! Yes this is the brand new model out, not sure what you mean though. All new E-Classes 2024 onwards potentially might get this tech, although you’d have to check specs with Mercedes when ordering 🤓
Great video as always and what a super desirable car. I just hope this latest E Class won't be plagued with the quality control issues which have come to light on the previous models over the last few decades ..
Yeahh I like .. I bet the owners manual is like the old phone book now with all that tec to learn. I think you would be driving this for years and still find out new stuff it can do. Thanks for the vid Nick.
Thank you! Well I thought that when I filmed this that it was MBUX NTG 8 but Mercedes recently hinted that it might actually have been MBUX NTG 7.5. I think going forward I might have to refer to them as: MBUX Gen 1 MBUX Gen 2 MBUX Gen 3 But anyway, this is the latest multimedia system so has the newest tech within! 🤓
What a nice acar. I love Mercedes but never even battered an eye at the E class, I love the CLS, GT63S and their SUVs but the E class is starting to grown on me too.
We have the GLE and wanted to down size, tried the GLC but was terrible when you go from the bigger car down, so I ordered one of these the premium plus model so hope it has most f the bits shown, get it tomorrow so not long to wait now. Bu t no lack of room in their and it drove so different to my GLE.
Oh nice! Yeah that sounds awesome! 🙌 In the future somewhen I’m planning on producing a video like a walkthrough guide of the multimedia system. Not sure when, depends when my local dealer have one in but I plan to so keep an eye out! 👍🏼
@@npoleary Nick I just picked up my car its the 220D premium plus, firstly it does not have the rear control as this vehicle and our digital lights is stating we need to pay for a subscription for the projection features is that correct ?
I’ve not seen anything in their brochures or anything about that and I haven’t been into my local dealer for a while. I haven’t heard some things are starting to go subscription based which is definitely something I’d like to cover. I’ve not actually seen in person a car with this sort of thing before so does it have any form of adaptive lights at night. What did the dealer or sales person explain when buying, I’m really curious about this sort of thing!
Hi Nick I love your blogs. They a really helpful. I have a 2020 S350, which Sandown look after. I was wondering if you have a link where could ask a few questions. Kind regards Peter Palladino ( I am the one who brings in my Parrot, Charlie when I come in for a service)
Awh thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Ah I’ve seen you when I was in there filming something not that long ago. That was when I bought my dog in. I need to head back in to film some more stuff to be honest! You can message on here or any social media site, so here on RUclips, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTock and email “contact@npo-media.co.uk”.
Will we get the all terrain again? Any news on next generation CarPlay yet? The media controls on passenger display is it just play pause skip or is in the full app like on main display? Can you get load cover under boot floor in estate like BMW Skoda kia etc thanks
Not sure sorry! We’ll have to keep an eye out on what Mercedes will announce in the future! Next Gen CarPlay I’m trying desperately to access. Aston Martin & Porsche are the only brands who have said they’re first at doing it in 2024. No one else has committed to a date yet ☹️ And sadly no not seen that, I only had access to film this car for a few hours and then it left my local dealer :(
Thank you so much for the review. This weekend we talked to our local Mercedes salesman, and he told us that the dealership had 3 allocations for an E-Class. They were due to close in 2 weeks. I asked him to send me the build info on the Moonlight White one to see if we can make mods and submit the order. The allocation was due to close this Friday. I am proud to say that my roommate accepted the build (E450) and changed a few things to get a fully loaded E450 without the rear steering. Black Napa Leather, SuperScreen, Pinnacle trim. Should be built by March, and here around June. He currently has the 23 GLE AMG 53. Now I am going to watch your review again. If you want to test out Zoom Meetings, let me know.. ;)
Ah that’s called the CLE Haven’t seen one yet but I’ve heard this one coming. ruclips.net/video/mUhMHg7CVwY/видео.htmlsi=P75jzlnE0nNqsjNZ&t=156 Here’s the CLE video (so effectively the Coupe) but the link to a snippet of it.
thanks, well, mate. I've had the car today for a test drive. had the E200.. well... I'm sort of disappointed. No genuine leather like in my CLS the interior still feels a little bit of meh on the cheap side if you're OCD on details and touches of doors, belts, indicators,,etc I stressed the car/ almost floored it and ... the transmission just got upset and had a hiccup.. didn't differ in either comfort or sport mode. .. that's disappointing.. not sure why it happened the 4D sound is nice -- the clustor should have had a shell , otherwise, feels smooth on relaxed driving.. very comfy seats
Thanks for sharing! Hadn’t noticed the leather to be honest, the “man made” leather and real leather are so close to each other now (I find anyway). I’m sure leather experts can tell! Transmissions do teach themselves overtime, I guess it depends how new it was, it could have been “running in”. Sadly not driven the other engines but they might suit better! You looking at anything else?
Hi Nick. Can you explain to me how to deactivate my key fob. The instruction state to double click the key fob once locked and the keyless door handles are deactivated, but I get nothing. I have an 2023 A class 180.
Check out my key tips and tricks video There’s two processes, as you have a fairly new one, the process might be the newer one: ruclips.net/video/mCL6Ifs77RM/видео.htmlsi=9N8WKg8k76afW8_0
I've had the car for a month now, really helpful video. Do you know if it's possible to de-activate the voice control? It's a bit annoying when it starts talking when it's not supposed to, happens quite a lot...
Do you know if in the instrument cluster you can set the left and right dials any way you want, like in the GLE from a couple of years ago? Or is it just a few sets like in the A class?
It’s just the sets (like the pre set theme ones, so you can’t customise each dial) that was a couple of multimedia system generations ago on MBUX NTG 6 🤓
This has become a potential new car. Nick does this have the active heating (via the door panels, centre console etc) and the heated and cooled cup holders like the GLE?
Ah nice! Sadly I didn’t get chance to test all of the spec when I was there filming this car but specs do vary round the world so best to check with Mercedes themselves 🤓 I don’t recall seeing heated or cooled cup holders though
I really like the exterior however, I think they have taken the interior too far. I currently have the Macchiato Beige leather and Natural grain ash wood trim. I know I can’t be the only one that doesn’t always want black and multi coloured lighting! I feel there should be a “heritage” option.
Yes, along with having an upright star on the bonnet. This latest generation of Mercedes-Benz is really starting to put me off the brand. I think Mercedes designers have lost the plot. Now, maybe I'm just getting old. I got into the brand back in the 1980s, and the W126 remains one of my dream cars. But I'm not exactly a luddite, and I happen to like the V222 facelift S-class very much indeed, because it maintained a lot of the traditional Mercedes design elements - like the chrome grille with three horizontal slats divided down the middle, a Mercedes-Benz laurel wreath logo on the upper chrome bezel of the grille, and the upright star on the end of the bonnet. The three horizontal LED strips in the taillights were reminiscent of the ribbed taillights that Mercedes-Benz had in the past. The V222 was a design triumph. The W213 - provided that it is also fitted with the "Exclusive Line" with the traditional Mercedes front end, was also absolutely brilliant, as was the C238, and C217. The W223? W214? 🤮
I’ve ordered the E450 4Matic model with macchiato beige/black leather interior. And most importantly, with a beige headliner, rather than black. I really dislike a dark interior because I can never find my iPhone or wallet! I also ordered the natural grain maple with aluminum strips on the dash and the console (no super screen - too much glass and fingerprints/dust. Just the big center horizontal tablet.). Its assembly date is Feb 21 with delivery at the dealership the first week of May.
@@kr8882 The only thing I am having 2nd thoughts about are the 20 inch AMG wheels I ordered - the multi spoke ones with gray insides. I am not a fan of all black wheels (or night packages) and the wheel options are pretty limited. I am looking forward to the air suspension and 4 wheel steering, though.
Really sorry I didn’t look at them specifically when I was last at my local dealer producing the review. I’d imagine you’ll have to chat to Mercedes directly to get that. It could be in their brochure though if that helps!
Hey Nick, I really love your content! Thanks for all your videos! I have a question: I have a AMG GLA 35 (7000 miles, got it brand new one year ago), and every time I break, there is a loud squeaky noise. I complained about it with the dealer and they told me that is this normal in all Mercedes cars, but I can't believe that a brand like Mercedes would have squeaky breaks normal in all of their cars. Is this true, or are they just being dishonest with me?
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! Ah brake squeal isn’t a sign of damage or a fault, it can happen on any car but is more prone on high performance cars. This is just because of the larger discs and pads used. Now of course it does depend on a lot on other factors as well from environmental factors, temperature, humidity, speed of car etc. Although not completely relevant I remember watching a fascinating video on this topic a couple of years ago and I found it again: ruclips.net/video/fUNHb9O52WQ/видео.htmlsi=3Bj_GYvkCk_IUr_Q It is on Porsche and sadly not a brand to date that I cover on my RUclips channel but I could possibly in the future. They do a great job explaining how they try to prevent it but it can still happen. Mercedes I’m sure probably do as much as Porsche in trying to reduce such factors but sometimes it can happen. In can happen in any car but more prone in high performance cars 👍🏼 Hope that helps!
It depends on the specification available. Really sorry you’ll have to ask Mercedes (it’s different in each country round the world and I have no idea where everyone is from 😅) I didn’t see one on the car that I went to test at my local Mercedes though, I thought it had every option available (in the UK at least)
I’ve heard this! It started to come out literally after I bought my car 😂 Sadly not compatible with mine 🥺 I’ve heard it’s on some models produced after Autumn last year. But check with Mercedes / the car you’re looking at to be 100% sure 👌🏼 You can identify it by a distance button on the steering wheel and the cool thing is, it’s a fraction of the price compared to Driving Assistance Package.
Yeah possibly! Che k on the Mercedes me store and it’ll state if the car is compatible or not 🤓 shop.mercedes-benz.com/en-gb/connect/pdp/active-distance-assist-distronic/553
Hi Nick , i envy you guys in UK . Here in Norway MB dealers only sell EV`s starting 2024 . Can not order a diesel or petrol regular or PHEV speck anymore 😒😒From A to E class , S and above is avalible as hybride
I’ve heard that! But am right in saying the infrastructure is far better? The UK is getting there slowly but surely, there’s been a huge ramping of charegpoints but still more works needs to be done.
Why are models with the NTG 7 with the older icons not getting this refreshed UI? It’s almost like Apple would stop updating the iOS of last year’s iPhone model.
It’s because it’s a new generation multimedia system. New hardware faster processors and graphics etc. MBUX NTG 7 has been out for a few years now (believe it or not), CLE and E-Class are the first to get it. But Mercedes are working on the next one already and I believe it’ll be called MB.OS.
@@npoleary thank you for replying 😊, I understand that some aspects of the new NTG maybe can’t be applied to older models due to hardware restrictions but the icons and general look could still be done. Apple for example always has some new features on new iOS only available on the new phone model they release every year but they still update all older models with the new UI look
Thanks for another great video, really thinking about changing my E200 Estate 2021 for this one, however, it just annoys me the cheap ass engines we get in the UK
Thank you! They’re pretty powerful on paper (I drove one, the entry level one) and it was no slouch! 🤓 There’s faster ones available if you need more power
Thanks Nick. That shiny black plastic surround to the front grill looks terrible, should match body colour in my opinion. I think Mercedes will soon need a tech service bar as well as mechanics to assist customers!
They already do Most large dealerships have “Star Experts” who can help with tech stuff on the inside And of course then technicians can help with other things or mechanical elements 🙏
Hi Nick. What’s your view on a diesel car. Would you buy a diesel these days. If not that rules out the top end cars as there are no petrol cars. I understand Europe does have top end petrol. What do you and others think
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with diesel All engines emit emissions, diesel in some respects is cleaner than some petrols out there due to AdBlue technology. I actually wanted to get a diesel but it was just slightly above what I wanted to pay. Usual rules apply, make sure you’re buying a diesel for the right reasons. If you’re only travelling a couple of miles per day (the engine doesn’t even get warm) then I would stick with petrol. As long as once a week or two, you get the engine to nice hot operating temperature on a dual carriageway / freeway or motorway then that should be fine 👍🏼 Diesel isn’t going anywhere and neither is petrol, yet…
Thanks for the video. I am not overly excited about the new features if you want to call them that. The 2024 E-Class compared to the 2023 does not seem to show a huge jump in anything. The tech is just about the same and I think we are at the end of the rope with how far tech can go unless you want a car to fly. Some of the new tech is useless such as the digital vents. The dancing lights that follow the beats, well, more of an annoyance in my opinion and would turn off. I don't care to be in a club while driving. Engine/performance is about the same. I just don't see the huge leap that all the hoopla has been about. I'd say, if you can find a 2023 E-Class, get one...
The tech is definitely not the same - I waited to order the new, larger model with a much more responsive MBUX system, quicker (E450 4Matic at 4.6 secs vs 5.3 secs). Airmatic suspension with 4 wheel steering. It really is a very different vehicle. I ordered without the super screen as I’m not interested in all the glass and fingerprints.
The E class models for the US will be the E350 4Matic and the E450 4Matic. Rear wheel drive will no longer be offered. I’ve ordered a Polar White E450 (Macchiato beige/black leather) which is scheduled for assembly on February 21st and arriving at the dealership (West Coast) the first week of May. I ordered without the super screen but with wood/aluminum strip dash and console because I’m not interested in a full sheet of glass.
Sadly no (although specs vary round the world so check with Mercedes directly to be 100% sure) However I’ve heard that some models can actually upgrade to it via Mercedes me which sounds pretty cool. Again check with them to be 100% sure as I only sadly had a very short time with the car
@@npoleary That is quite terrible of Mercedes. It is 2024 and most cars have it standard now. Almost every cheap Chinese car has it as standard. It is quite unacceptable in a car of this price and supposed level of tech and luxury. It makes no sense. I think Mercedes sales will continue to decline although I believe they don't care since they're making more profits per car now due to inflated prices and cost cutting. Mercedes has completely alienated its older customer base and they don't really care about those who have been loyal to the brand for years. Imagine driving a car which costs more than double the price of a really nice mainstream car and not having something as simple as radar cruise. It is just an insult. I thought this new E Class would be a change for Mercedes where the high price could be justified. However, it seems they have just gotten more greedy and I won't support it. I know Mercedes won't care or miss me as a customer but I feel like it is a brand with a fading reputation and an increased apetite for greed. Some things really should be standard at this point now. Buying from a premium brand no longer makes any logical sense when they come with less for more money. And it isn't like they are as well built as they used to be. Most mainstream cars feel more solid and have better materials than most Mercs these days. So the price can not be justified and the lack of features just an insult.
Hey @SDav21, well it’s all down to what manufacturers want to offer as standard. That’s why they’re all different. I’m just on another car manufacturers’ car configurator at the moment doing research and a rear camera and sensors are an option, and the car’s starting price is almost £100k 😅 even electric seats aren’t standard which to me is crazy for that price. It all comes down to what they want to offer. If you’ve been following my channel for the past year, you’ll see that I’ve started to cover other brands of car. No car manufacturer will do everything perfect. That would be boring if they all did! I’m a huge fan of Mercedes (hence why I bought one and will continue to cover them on my channel) but they’ll all be slightly different. My aim is to cover a more broad range of topics to give people a choice as for example you may not be a fan of the way someone designs something in a new model when it comes out. But if I have additional videos for you to watch, I just want to help cover and create a library of videos of the latest cars. It will take time though so you’ll have to bear with me.
@@npoleary I still feel legacy brands are falling behind and that they are greedy. The Chinese entrants to the car market has shown most people that they can drive great cars with amazing tech for far far less. And no, they don't feel or drive inferior to the European cars. The lack of radar cruise as standard is a bitter pill to swallow for me for a Mercedes. A Mercedes, especially an E Class, should be about luxury and comfort. These should be long distance munchers. Radar cruise would make it more pleasant and less stressful. And again, EVERYTHING comes standard in most new Chinese cars. I had always been a life long Mercedes fan and loyalist and it was because their cars were built like no other. You could feel it in the construction, the materials, the heft. Now that is not the case. I love my 2014 W212 E350 Bluetec to bits and will never sell it because all newer Mercs just feel like lesser vehicles. Less solid and worse materials which feel thin and brittle. And you would think they would compensate by offering more features but not even that. I have been so put off. Not to mention the prices which have increased by so much that people who could once afford one can longer do so. Thank goodness for the Chinese brands. They will be the new kings of the industry soon.
I think the markets dictate what is standard/optional. In the US, 8-way power seats (driver/passenger) are standard. A fully equipped E450 4Matic (the one I ordered) without super screen is $86,000.
Technically speaking S-Class would be due a facelift within the next couple of years (if Mercedes follow the same pattern for previous launches) That would be cool!
And how much a month does it cost to keep all the tech once the free period runs out. I know my 2020 e class convertible would be £25 month just for the infrequent sat nav updates. And serveral other features have a subsciption to keep them, not just Mercedes but its getting ridiculous
Well only Mercedes me Digital Extras are chargeable things As a rule of thumb it can be: Mercedes me app Navigation (live traffic and map updates) Entertainment Package (on selected new cars) However if you’re like me and just use Apple CarPlay then you might not need to renew any of them 🤓 Also in the UK I should add some are free of charge for a set time but check with Mercedes for exact specifics 🤓
The CLE has exactly the same multimedia system called MBUX NTG 8. The only difference is that the E-Class (being further up the range of Mercedes models) has more options for available tech. It’s the latest car, it would be pretty disappointing if it didn’t have loads of new cool things! This is the first car in a few years where Mercedes have introduced new tech never seen before. The good thing is, a few are optionally available so if you don’t need it, then you don’t have to select it 🤓
@@npolearyIn the EQE, EQS and I believe the S-Class you have more AC controls (and some other options) fixed at the bottom of the screen. I liked that more. Now u have to do more steps to change the temp.
Right then that was good as usual spot on. im concerned using a Phone you will see im not advertising with unlocking a car for me that's never going to happen I have defender bags you get 2 with a order put your phone inside cred cards card for the car all these are turned off with in 3 seconds and also key fob as well I recommend turning off Blue Tooth at night when you go to bed leave your stuff turned on and there is a good someone will have a grabber to get you codes I don't trust phone as I beta test for you no how. so the software can be buggy I no for a fact recently the Lock Screen input codes were faulty I use the complex letter system. I recommend and password that can use multicharacter inputs use the £ sign its only us that use this now a wee word on your Watch is that a mark 1 as im noticing the orange strap as that strap only comes with mark 1 ULTRA take it easy. get these pouches right away iv got 2 already for when I get round to getting my car
Haha thanks for sharing! Glad you enjoyed it! Actually it’s an Apple Watch Ultra 2 😛 Might of obtained an unofficial strap (well I actually bought a few to change it up) Gone back to the green one now 😇 Yeah gotta keep those keys secure!
yes I was wondering if you had the ULTRA 2 my original mountain White and orange are in there boxes I use 3 party straps my self and a extra long black woven strap my battery is still 100% health and its from when apple released the watch to the public just be careful using the phone in car parks due to people sitting in there car grabbing there codes all they have to do is enter the code with there make shift remote and the car is gone by by time keep blue tooth turned off just use the key if you have one see this is where the Mach-E Ford destroys the competition on security as there is a number code on the door pillar not only that the code can be changed inside the car just in case some one has used a zoom Lenz where by changing the code they are not able to gain access as there is also no blue tooth turned on let's give the car maximum security
MBUX is way superior to Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps navigation is useless in Australia. MBUX nav gets common English instructions right about 90% of the time - about 300% better than Apple Maps.
Screens in cars form a part of the experience in a car. I review various manufacturers and all have larger screens than they have ever had before but there’s way more to a luxurious experience. Could be tech related or even how it drives. Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series are great in showcasing luxury, they have air suspension which glides across the road so you’re almost floating on a cloud. What do you have in mind for a luxurious experience in a car? 🤓
One of the reasons why I mentioned how you can no 1 turn it on if you want it And number 2 how to turn it off and adjust it’s intensify as it was very immersive! 😅
@@npoleary really a great e class, I like it a lot, I am driving a 7 series but would go for this e class, not so keen on the door handles, perhaps a video showing all the safety features and parking assistance
My most recent video showcases features on the Driving Assistance package: ruclips.net/video/m3A8H74vMLQ/видео.html You can opt for this on most models of Mercedes. And parking I’ve made a video here: ruclips.net/video/TNKHB6tuHfw/видео.html Or Mercedes vs BMW: ruclips.net/video/UMqc-H_nxrE/видео.html 🤓
Nothing wrong with ambient lighting! 👀 Also I’d just turn it down a little to make it more subtle, so it kind of complements the interior. I’ve chose the colours in the video to make it as bright as possible to show it off on camera. If I owned one, it would be turned down a lot so it’s not so much in your face.
Have you not seen this? ruclips.net/video/9k5Y0wK73r8/видео.htmlsi=ie1OZlrqFUbCvA-f I made a video on how you can turn it off (made a joke of it at the start of the video 😅)
After using Mercedes for 30 years....nowadays the quality is so bad and pricing not impressive.....very disappointing.ans I quit continental cars ....I never imagined but the truth I own Lexus now and it's quality is just outstanding .. Toyota and Lexus maintain quality so much.....Lexus is so much better and reliable.
I mean if you’re worried about things like that Mercedes have a warranty for 3 years in the UK. I hear that phrase being said every year, in fact back in 2013 when I bought my first new car (Vauxhall Corsa) one of my family even commented on the start / stop tech saying “more things to go wrong”. Now it’s standardised everywhere 👍🏼

Hey! Well anywhere really, I’m on RUclips, Linked In, Instagram and TikTok. You can also email me too “contact@npo-media.co.uk”
I can try although some questions you’ll need to speak to the car manufacturer about, depends what the question is! 🤓
@@npoleary I just sent you an email, hopefully its a tech question you can answer.
Just replied! 🤓
Nick I have a question you, how do I email you the details ?
Thanks for the look! And thanks for the dimensions in inches as well as cm. Impressive tech even over my 2023, but I do not like the trend of removing the HVAC buttons for screen buttons, even if they never move. I much prefer my HVAC controls to be accessible by physical buttons.
Yeah it was super interesting this car! 🤓
Thank you! 🙏
thanks for the video, am i the only one who still prefer the previous generation look?
Yes. The previous gen interior was dull and felt cheap in comparison to this one
@@raf_raw dull and cheap!🤣
@@amroelnour dull 🤣
Where's the dash (and door?) wood...? Doesn't have to be a lot... but without wood it looks cheap and not as classy...
@@gb3496 totally agree , it looks more like an electric car now :( just more glass and screens and too much ambient lighting
Quite an upgrade for the E class! Glad to see this as. Felt as though the E was the stepchild for the last few years.
I drove one at the MB platinum event yesterday! And it was beyond amazing
Ah nice!
Oh really? If you get in touch with their service team, I’m sure they could take a look for you 🙏
Congratulations Nick for the work presented. I really like the work you present, which ranges from large to small details about Mercedes. Excellent information for the community that loves this beautiful little star that is Mercedes Benz.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! 🙏🤓
Excellent work as always Nick. The tech in this car is unreal!
Thank you! 🙏
Excellent work as always Nick.
Thank you! 🙏
Another great video Nick. Also like the intro music!!
Yep, another like from me for the into music.
Thank you to you both! I’m really picky when it comes to music for videos. I have definitely spent 40mins before trying to find the right track 😂
I went with this one in the end because of the lights in the car 😎
Might do a behind the scenes video one day!
Off to MB Monday in MK for a training presentation - hope we get to see this 😮
Oh cool! That would be good! 👍🏼
It’s seriously impressive 🤓
Great review Nick. Looking forward to seeing the new estate in person. They look fantastic in the pics I've seen. Thanks again.
Thank you! Yeah it does look stunning! 🙏
Ah awesome! Thanks for watching! 🤓👍🏼
so many useless points of failure with the screens, door knobs etc. Lack of physical buttons is getting absurd.
Yes I would always prefer physical buttons, but my own car has touch buttons on the steering wheel, you do get used to them. In fact the steering wheel in this one is the same as mine 👍🏼
But user preference after all, when I check out a car across the manufacturers I cover I now make sure to let my viewers know what’s touch buttons and what’s not (climate control, steering wheel etc)
WTH are they thinking? Is it car or a video game In Nathan’s????? And the electrical harnesses are still made in Mexico 🤷♂️
Passenger screen neglected !!
Welp unfortunately they’re here to stay, cuz they gotta keep up with younger generations’ preferences
great work nick ....appreciate your efforts❤❤
Thank you! 🙏
It could be down to me getting older but I am genuinely finding the cars of today becoming more & more overwhelming interior wise!! 🙋🙋
Evening Nick I'll check this out later. hope you having a nice day
Hi nick , i have owned this W214 for around 2 months now, it’s great. It’s the best Mercedes i have owned till date ( i also owners a 2015 GLE and 2019 GLE new MBUX and then traded up for this.)
The automatic parking now detects spaces a lot faster than the another Mercedes before and it park fast, i mean scary fast you think its about to hit the other car the speed at which it backs up.
I love that car! I love my W206 C300, but this E Class is stunning. Thank you for a gresat first look 🙏
Glad you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching! 🤓
I love this car and its tech, good car for someone like me who’s really into tech. I like the touch buttons too. I driven one of these and loved everything about it
Yeah it’s full of tech, so interesting to see! I could spend all day in it! 😅
(wishful thinking no doubt) lol
Introducing this into Mercedes is a very good idea with your vehicle carrying out your set instuctions 'functions' when certain scenarios are present. It will become more widespread I believe as the advancement of motoring tech never stands still. Looking forward to seeing what you uncover about this.
Many thanks for the great videos. Keep em coming.
Thank you! Yes it is very exciting! Will defo aim to do a video on this in the future!
There’s loads of scenarios where you could use routines! 👍🏼
*I'm 81 in a few weeks and got it real quickly (W247 2019 B200CDi AMG Line) with MBUX and all the Tricks !*
@@donaldsivewright903 Rarely Touch the Screen - Use Voice Commands - Regards
@@GrrMeister I just can’t bring myself to talk to a car as it feels very odd. I have tried it out as a test but it’s not for me and it’s not reliable enough - maybe it’s my Scots accent! There was nothing wrong with the older style knobs and switches. it’s like everything else these days, tech for techs sake and not always an improvement in my opinion.
Dang it Nick. I was awaiting the CLE and then saw what the E Class offers. That screen is fire. I guess we will to test drive both and see. Keep up the great work.
Haha sorry! But I saw the E-Class was coming and thought, I have to make a video on this… 👍🏼
Glad you enjoy the videos! 🤓
Thanks Nick for sharing nice E class would all E Class have the same tech?
Amazing features! Thanks again for the tour. I wonder when this might come to the GLE?
We’ll have to keep an eye out on what Mercedes will do over the years!
Yeahh I like .. I bet the owners manual is like the old phone book now with all that tec to learn. I think you would be driving this for years and still find out new stuff it can do. Thanks for the vid Nick.
Most Mercedes manuals are 600-800 pages so not sure how big this one is 😅
Glad you enjoyed it!
First time viewer & from the US. Love the channel Nick!
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the content!
Very nice new E Class 🥰😎🚘
Great presentation Nik. The big question is the reliability of these new heavy tech stuff at W214 going forward.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
Well for peace of mind Mercedes have a 3 year warranty in the UK 🙏
Great Video, thanks
Do you know which NTG version is present in this e-class ?
Thank you! Well I thought that when I filmed this that it was MBUX NTG 8 but Mercedes recently hinted that it might actually have been MBUX NTG 7.5.
I think going forward I might have to refer to them as:
MBUX Gen 1
MBUX Gen 2
MBUX Gen 3
But anyway, this is the latest multimedia system so has the newest tech within! 🤓
I’m seriously considering upgrading my GLB booking to this! Just test drive it today…
Oh awesome! Let me know how you get on! 😎
What a nice acar. I love Mercedes but never even battered an eye at the E class, I love the CLS, GT63S and their SUVs but the E class is starting to grown on me too.
Beautiful car, I like the design
Fantastic reveiw and very impressive tech. Im looking forward to picking my new mercedes a200 amg line saloon next friday from Sandown Salisbury.

In the future somewhen I’m planning on producing a video like a walkthrough guide of the multimedia system.

No one else has committed to a date yet ☹️
And sadly no not seen that, I only had access to film this car for a few hours and then it left my local dealer :(
Love ur vidoes
I suppose it was always going this way, if the reliability is there, fantastic.
Much appreciated 👍
If you want to test out Zoom Meetings, let me know.. ;)
Oh sounds awesome! 👍🏼🤓

Here’s the CLE video (so effectively the Coupe) but the link to a snippet of it.
thanks,
well, mate. I've had the car today for a test drive. had the E200..
well... I'm sort of disappointed.
No genuine leather like in my CLS
the interior still feels a little bit of meh on the cheap side if you're OCD on details and touches of doors, belts, indicators,,etc
I stressed the car/ almost floored it and ... the transmission just got upset and had a hiccup.. didn't differ in either comfort or sport mode. .. that's disappointing.. not sure why it happened
the 4D sound is nice --
the clustor should have had a shell ,
otherwise, feels smooth on relaxed driving.. very comfy seats
Nick please cover the Head Up Display?
I have, I made a video at my local Mercedes a couple of years ago: ruclips.net/video/TNOqQrVfxqw/видео.htmlsi=buvqFsyaPg8mfH3W

But usually it’s usually in

@jc2604 there was like! 👍🏼
So all good 😊 haha
Do you know if in the instrument cluster you can set the left and right dials any way you want, like in the GLE from a couple of years ago? Or is it just a few sets like in the A class?
It’s just the sets (like the pre set theme ones, so you can’t customise each dial) that was a couple of multimedia system generations ago on MBUX NTG 6 🤓
Thanks. That's too bad. I really like the customizability.
The inside looks like a amusement park with all the lights
Kind of nice!
Does this new model have a feature where you can watch movies, etc… my 2010 had that feature.
Yeah you should be able to, you should be able to plug a memory stick in and watch content on there 🤓
This has become a potential new car. Nick does this have the active heating (via the door panels, centre console etc) and the heated and cooled cup holders like the GLE?
Ah nice! Sadly I didn’t get chance to test all of the spec when I was there filming this car but specs do vary round the world so best to check with Mercedes themselves 🤓
I don’t recall seeing heated or cooled cup holders though
@@npoleary thanks mate that’s what I thought. Strange the new e class doesn’t have some spec from the old standard gle.
I really like the exterior however, I think they have taken the interior too far. I currently have the Macchiato Beige leather and Natural grain ash wood trim. I know I can’t be the only one that doesn’t always want black and multi coloured lighting! I feel there should be a “heritage” option.
Pretty sure you can still order lighter colour interiors! Match that with a sunroof too 😇
Yes, along with having an upright star on the bonnet.
@@pacmanc8103thank you for sharing! 👍
Good Day Nick Aka Mr O'L. I think I no what's coming tonight, you will be doing a review. of the GENESIS GV60 2024 catch you later

Although not completely relevant I remember watching a fascinating video on this topic a couple of years ago and I found it again:
ruclips.net/video/fUNHb9O52WQ/видео.htmlsi=3Bj_GYvkCk_IUr_Q
It is on Porsche and sadly not a brand to date that I cover on my RUclips channel but I could possibly in the future. They do a great job explaining how they try to prevent it but it can still happen.
Mercedes I’m sure probably do as much as Porsche in trying to reduce such factors but sometimes it can happen. In can happen in any car but more prone in high performance cars 👍🏼
Hope that helps!
@npoleary thank you so much, Nick! I'm now a much biggest fan of yours! Thanks for such detailed explanation 🙂
Ah no worries haha! 😛
I remember watching that video a long time ago and I still remember it to this day!
Do the backseats go down to make extra room?
Yeah they can do
I show that bit in the video! Just after 3:00 😅

Does anyone know where has the eqe saloon has gone from mercedes uk, can't seem to find it on the configurator. do they no longer make it?
Oh yeah I’ve noticed that too
No I haven’t heard of Mercedes discontinuing any models.
They just might be doing website updates or something
Hi Nick does the new E class have a heated steering wheel? Thanks
It depends on the specification available. Really sorry you’ll have to ask Mercedes (it’s different in each country round the world and I have no idea where everyone is from 😅)
I didn’t see one on the car that I went to test at my local Mercedes though, I thought it had every option available (in the UK at least)
How would you compare the E-Class suspension to the new S-Class?
S-Class will always be the best for comfort as it’s almost like floating on a cloud ☁️
E-Class is very close though!
Can you buy the driving assisted pack on Some other new models on the Mercedes store ?
I’ve heard this! It started to come out literally after I bought my car 😂
Sadly not compatible with mine 🥺
I’ve heard it’s on some models produced after Autumn last year. But check with Mercedes / the car you’re looking at to be 100% sure 👌🏼
You can identify it by a distance button on the steering wheel and the cool thing is, it’s a fraction of the price compared to Driving Assistance Package.

We have until 2030 till we are in the same boat!
True, car makers sadly don’t tend to do this…well most of them anyway. Currently had one on test recently that does! Review coming soon! 👀
Are we going to see a GLE Coupe and GLE SUV with this type of screen, interior exterior ?
I doubt it at the moment.
The GLE’s have just had a facelift but unfortunately not seen one yet.
It’ll be a few years before another update!
I think the last e class I’d ever consider would be the w212!
Thanks for
Thanks for another great video, really thinking about changing my E200 Estate 2021 for this one, however, it just annoys me the cheap ass engines we get in the UK
Thank you!
They’re pretty powerful on paper (I drove one, the entry level one) and it was no slouch! 🤓
There’s faster ones available if you need more power
Thanks Nick. That shiny black plastic surround to the front grill looks terrible, should match body colour in my opinion. I think Mercedes will soon need a tech service bar as well as mechanics to assist customers!
They already do
Most large dealerships have “Star Experts” who can help with tech stuff on the inside
And of course then technicians can help with other things or mechanical elements 🙏
Hi Nick. What’s your view on a diesel car. Would you buy a diesel these days. If not that rules out the top end cars as there are no petrol cars. I understand Europe does have top end petrol. What do you and others think
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with diesel
All engines emit emissions, diesel in some respects is cleaner than some petrols out there due to AdBlue technology. I actually wanted to get a diesel but it was just slightly above what I wanted to pay.
Usual rules apply, make sure you’re buying a diesel for the right reasons. If you’re only travelling a couple of miles per day (the engine doesn’t even get warm) then I would stick with petrol.
As long as once a week or two, you get the engine to nice hot operating temperature on a dual carriageway / freeway or motorway then that should be fine 👍🏼
Diesel isn’t going anywhere and neither is petrol, yet…
Hi Nick. Thanks for your advice and for taking the time to reply! Kevin@@npoleary
No worries! 🤓
Those rear star taillights are absolutely hideous...
Nick, Will the USA engine offerings be the same?
Really sorry I wouldn’t know
You’ll have to ask Mercedes on that one 🙏
The E class models for the US will be the E350 4Matic and the E450 4Matic. Rear wheel drive will no longer be offered. I’ve ordered a Polar White E450 (Macchiato beige/black leather) which is scheduled for assembly on February 21st and arriving at the dealership (West Coast) the first week of May. I ordered without the super screen but with wood/aluminum strip dash and console because I’m not interested in a full sheet of glass.
The E350 will have about 280 hp, the E450 about 390 hp - both have electronic boost.

Imagine the cost if the super screen blows a gasket 😮
6:35 sounds sarcastic 🤣
Does it come standard with radar cruise?
Sadly no (although specs vary round the world so check with Mercedes directly to be 100% sure)
However I’ve heard that some models can actually upgrade to it via Mercedes me which sounds pretty cool.
Can't wait for the superscreen to come to the S class.
Technically speaking S-Class would be due a facelift within the next couple of years (if Mercedes follow the same pattern for previous launches)
That would be cool!
And how much a month does it cost to keep all the tech once the free period runs out. I know my 2020 e class convertible would be £25 month just for the infrequent sat nav updates. And serveral other features have a subsciption to keep them, not just Mercedes but its getting ridiculous
Well only Mercedes me Digital Extras are chargeable things
As a rule of thumb it can be:
Mercedes me app
Navigation (live traffic and map updates)
Entertainment Package (on selected new cars)
However if you’re like me and just use Apple CarPlay then you might not need to renew any of them 🤓
Also in the UK I should add some are free of charge for a set time but check with Mercedes for exact specifics 🤓
In my current E-class, the navigation updates are free from Mercedes USA. I’ve never paid for updates.
I'm worried about all that tech.... many reviews say the CLE is crap in terms of it's interface.... and this one is tech overload! So what gives?
The CLE has exactly the same multimedia system called MBUX NTG 8.
The only difference is that the E-Class (being further up the range of Mercedes models) has more options for available tech.
It’s the latest car, it would be pretty disappointing if it didn’t have loads of new cool things! This is the first car in a few years where Mercedes have introduced new tech never seen before.
The good thing is, a few are optionally available so if you don’t need it, then you don’t have to select it 🤓
That grill is shocking
It looks great.
If you don’t own it you happen to complain about touch buttons. YES, you not used to them
I really dislike that they got rid of the always accessible AC controls. Just why…
They are always accessible, they remain fixed at the bottom even if the screen is turned off.
Unless you mean physical buttons?
@@npolearyIn the EQE, EQS and I believe the S-Class you have more AC controls (and some other options) fixed at the bottom of the screen. I liked that more. Now u have to do more steps to change the temp.
The temperature is still there at the bottom of the screen through 🤓👍🏼
Right then that was good as usual spot on. im concerned using a Phone you will see im not advertising with unlocking a car for me that's never going to happen I have defender bags you get 2 with a order put your phone inside cred cards card for the car all these are turned off with in 3 seconds and also key fob as well I recommend turning off Blue Tooth at night when you go to bed leave your stuff turned on and there is a good someone will have a grabber to get you codes I don't trust phone as I beta test for you no how. so the software can be buggy I no for a fact recently the Lock Screen input codes were faulty I use the complex letter system.
Actually it’s an Apple Watch Ultra 2 😛
Might of obtained an unofficial strap (well I actually bought a few to change it up)
Gone back to the green one now 😇
Yeah gotta keep those keys secure!
yes I was wondering if you had the ULTRA 2 my original mountain White and orange are in there boxes I use 3 party straps my self and a extra long black woven strap my battery is still 100% health and its from when apple released the watch to the public just be careful using the phone in car parks due to people sitting in there car grabbing there codes all they have to do is enter the code with there make shift remote and the car is gone by by time keep blue tooth turned off just use the key if you have one see this is where the Mach-E Ford destroys the competition on security as there is a number code on the door pillar not only that the code can be changed inside the car just in case some one has used a zoom Lenz where by changing the code they are not able to gain access as there is also no blue tooth turned on let's give the car maximum security
MBUX is way superior to Apple CarPlay and Apple Maps navigation is useless in Australia. MBUX nav gets common English instructions right about 90% of the time - about 300% better than Apple Maps.

Ambient lighting used to be discreet and useful. Now it’s a useless and in an “your face” distraction.
Well this is why you can turn it on / off and I’m pretty sure is an option anyway! 🤓
now a days, "luxury" means sitting at your computer desk surrounded by a couple of screens. So sad the direction the automobile industry has taken.
@@npoleary the w222 s class for example, a perfect blend of luxury and tech. yes it does have a couple of screens but they are not the focal point.
70s disco
Pulsing ambient light is irritating and distracting
One of the reasons why I mentioned how you can no 1 turn it on if you want it
And number 2 how to turn it off and adjust it’s intensify as it was very immersive! 😅
@@npoleary really a great e class, I like it a lot, I am driving a 7 series but would go for this e class, not so keen on the door handles, perhaps a video showing all the safety features and parking assistance
My most recent video showcases features on the Driving Assistance package: ruclips.net/video/m3A8H74vMLQ/видео.html
You can opt for this on most models of Mercedes.
And parking I’ve made a video here: ruclips.net/video/TNKHB6tuHfw/видео.html
Or Mercedes vs BMW: ruclips.net/video/UMqc-H_nxrE/видео.html
🤓
New interiors look lik 14 yolds gaming pc build. This is just hottible.... good car othervise
Nothing wrong with ambient lighting! 👀
Also I’d just turn it down a little to make it more subtle, so it kind of complements the interior. I’ve chose the colours in the video to make it as bright as possible to show it off on camera.
If I owned one, it would be turned down a lot so it’s not so much in your face.
My car asking me for a pin number every time I start the car it is so annoying. I’m about to sell the damn thing and just get me a Cady
Have you not seen this?
ruclips.net/video/9k5Y0wK73r8/видео.htmlsi=ie1OZlrqFUbCvA-f
I made a video on how you can turn it off (made a joke of it at the start of the video 😅)
So much to go wrong though
I mean if you’re worried about things like that
Mercedes have a warranty for 3 years in the UK.
I hear that phrase being said every year, in fact back in 2013 when I bought my first new car (Vauxhall Corsa) one of my family even commented on the start / stop tech saying “more things to go wrong”. Now it’s standardised everywhere 👍🏼
Very true Nick. I come from Land Rovers so have PTSD about things going wrong! Maybe Mercs are better
@@npoleary4 year/50,000 mile warranty in the US. You can purchase an additional 3 years for about $1800 (negotiable).
