Elvis was nervous he thought his career was over show business is a thickle place but when that man took to the stage it was its no that the show must go on that man gave his all at the time I was in Falkirk in a shop well now in and the 68 come back special come on the telivoin at the tills and everyone stopped it was like a blast from the past I'll say that's Elvis I'll never for get that live with me for ever rip Elvis

The tightest sound, such energy from the whole band. Must have been an amazing experience to be in the showroom in the presence of Elvis, looking like a god, sounding so cool. Pure talent on show.
I love this time in his career 69 and 70 in Vegas. He looked amazing and his voice was incredible with what he was doing with songs like just pretend and bridge over troubled water. He seemed happy at this time too. No capes, over done jumpsuits just the real Elvis doing what he loved doing. He sounds amazing here.
I saw an interview with Jerry Schilling and he said that Elvis was in the best shape of his life in those years. He was in excellent health and weighed 168 pounds. He looked fantastic as the same in the 68 special. Oh how we miss him so much!!!
I loved the early 70's. I think he was at his peak. He had such an energy.

no one will ever come close to what this entertainer singer and charisma this man had, stage presence , best backing singers and band that there ever was, he gave everything he had into is performances when he was in great shape 1969 to 1973, i truly believe god as him singing to the angels , as he had the voice of one, and the vocal range of a opera singer, simply perfection at its best.
He devinitely can play this thing a little bit!
But his voice was his greatest "instrument"!
He sounds so lovely here: raw, soulful, and enjoying the music, the band, the audience, and himself 🔥
One of the few who sound as good live or better than on recording... EP was never better than in '69- he was in his best shape, thin as a rake, more handsome than 10 movie stars, there was little if any "medication" on board, and his voice was matured to perfection... If I had a time machine and could only go back and see only 1 concert - it would be EP '69 opening or closing night in Vegas.
He was really great in 1969! Fresh, sober and rocking: Personally my favorite Elvis year. He had a 28-30 inch waist, 6 feet tall and moved like nobody else

When Elvis laughs it is infectious. He makes me smile everyday.. I too am very disappointed that many of his life performances weren’t filmed. Col. Parker didn’t want overexposure of his prized performer. He made more money when fans came to movies and live concerts. He robed Elvis by taking an unheard of 50% of his salary and he gambled it away.!

Thank you for the comment, Ornella! These songs are really rare, it’s from the August 25 1969 Dinner Show, and it’s perhaps one of the best versions of the featured songs for each.. I wish parker would have let him tour outside the USA post 1969, would have been marvelous doing sellout shows everywhere for sure

Robert, Parker was not able to reconize the immense Elvis's talent, he saw in him only the opportunity to earn a lot of money.He was a raw greedy man who didn't know anything about creativity, music or art in general. Too bad Elvis didn't fire him when he was still in time.

These were the best ever years of live recording because ELVIS was excited and very interested in what he was doing.
