- Another rare and fascinating document of Max Lorenz's art during the later years of his career. Again I don't know how this excellent broadcast recording suddenly turned up and who to give credit to for sharing his tape with the world. I only had to make very minor pitch corrections. Act 3 was basically perfect from start ot finish, as I received it. Sadly 15 minutes in act 3 are missing.

Many thanks for this rarity. Grob-Prandl is really amazing!
Grob-Prandl sounds fantastic. Her Isolde, her Brünnhilde, her Turandot are outstanding.I my opinion the best dramatic soprano after the war.
Grob-Prandl is about 36 here. The voice is perfectly equalized from top top to bottom - so healthy. She has a way of approaching the top notes somewhat 'from the side', initially with a narrow , slightly squeezed placement which quickly opens up. Melchior used to sing that way also. She is most impressive and apparently the voice was absolutely huge in the theater. She's an almost exact contemporary of Nilsson and no doubt would have been far more well known without that competition. Lorenz is 52 or thereabouts and the years of singing the heaviest repertoire are showing here, though I prefer him to Svanholm's nasal placement and scooping. Sebastian paces the work thrillingly. Some of the tempi would choke a horse, but the two principals manage with extra breaths. A wonderful document.
Grob-Prandl sounds so girlish here, almost like a Verdi soprano. She could have handled Aida, surely.
Another wonderful discovery! Thank you very much for sharing another elusive pearl.
this gives hope, that the sebastian broadcast of rheingold with franz mazura will finally make on your page...
Grosse Oper, fantastische Interpreten. Damals war´s

Thank you! ❤
it was of course official decca-policy to "prefer" and "allow" only their birgit into broadcasts and major opera events. they even blocked dernesch with karajan from salzbzurg for the met walkuere
Dernesch is a 3rd class singer who would sing Amme next to Nilsson during the year of Nilsson;s retirement
Auf Kanal Bayreuth Vinylman gibt esTristan und Isolde mit Grob-Prandl und Windgassen Genf 1953.....der Vergleich ist absolut spannend.....Lorenz und Windgassen
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! can you please find schwarzkops as elsa and elisabeth? the furwaengler parisfal from the scala?
😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
Very nice! One of the things that immediately draw my attention is the woodwind section, especially the bassoon - Wagner sounds SO different in French :)
What's wrong with Georgine von Milinkovič?
her title. all other austrians (she was born in Prag in 1913) had to give up their nobility titles after 1919...
La Grob-Prandl aveva una grande voce, ma non la dolcezza e il colore della Flagstad.
