- A navy commander was brought to tears when he arrived at school to surprise his son who has a rare brain condition after almost eight months away on deployment. Jesse McGill, 38, couldn’t fight back the tears as son Kingston, 10, let out a high-pitch scream of ‘daddy’ before bursting into tears himself and running into his dad’s arms. The previous seven-and-a-half months had been tough for Jesse, stationed in West Africa with the U.S. Navy, as his son has arteriovenous malformation (AVM) a rare medical condition that causes vessels in his brain to tangle. So far in his life Kingston has survived three aneurysms leaving his parents on edge as even the slightest headache could turn out to be something life-threatening. Jesse admitted being away from his son was extremely difficult and so, on August 14, in Jacksonville, Florida, Lt. Commander Jesse wanted to do something special for Kingston. The surprise at Seven Bridges School in Orange Park went perfectly, and one day Jesse himself hopes to teach in an elementary school.

No, they are not. Not unless the home parent starts saying adult things in front of the children. My children weren't aware of the dangers their father was in~ just that he left on deployment. Why in the world would any parent cause that anguish in their children is beyond me. His crying is JOY 😊 Just like ALL of us waiting on the tarmac for our loved ones to get off that plane... 🙏God bless this family and ALL military families worldwide ❣️
I remember missing my dad but I never got scared he wouldn’t come back. I don’t think any of these kids ever do. I new he was going to go fight but never thought he could take the bullet. Thankfully I had my happy ending and am following in his footsteps but I know not everyone gets that

Even now I'm in my 30s and I worry sick about what they're doing, where they are and what the future holds for them (UK).

Words fall short, but here goes. I was raised in the Navy. It wasn't always easy on all of us kids when dad was on deployment. Mom handled four kids on her own, two of us with health issues. It was great when Dad came home. Excitement, sometimes tears. It was great to see him come home when we were little kids.

The only videos that choke me up are these. I have two boys (5 and 14) and I could not imagine being away from them for a week much less months, especially my 5 year old. They are too young to really understand. The way this little boy broke down in tears of happiness and his dad did the same....well it pulled on my heart strings. too. Thank you for your service and the sacrifice you make. Not just for our country, but having to be away from your family because that is certainly much more difficult.
When my brother's would return for a furlough, I would great them like a flying squirrel. Now that we're older we still reminisce on those days.🫂👥 Thank you for your service 🪖🎖️
