- In a Game Two rematch, Dave Stewart and Alex Fernandez faced each other, as Chicago looked to force a Game Seven, and Toronto looked to retain their AL Champions title.
Both teams traded a pair of runs in the early going, before the Blue Jays grabbed a one-run lead in the Top of the 4th. The game would remain a 3-2 affair until the 9th, when the Blue Jays tacked on three more runs, thanks to a Devon White solo home run, and a Paul Molitor two-RBI triple. Duane Ward, despite not being quite as untouchable in this series as one might like a closer to be, came on in the bottom half, and closed out the White Sox, sending the Jays to their second straight World Series.
After throwing 6 innings and getting the win in Game Two, Dave Stewart went 7 1/3 innings, and got the win in the Pennant Clincher, earning himself ALCS MVP honors.
For the White Sox, it was a disappointing end to a great season. You have to wonder what the outcome might have been had Jack McDowell thrown well in even one of his starts.
This was a special Blue Jays team. Hall of Famers everywhere....
Crazy to see Molitor hitting 6th! Great to see the two best leadoff hitters going head to head in the post season.
It is because before Henderson came to Toronto the top of the bating order was WAMCOF.
This was for it all in 1993 to the Trip to the 🌎 series 🏆 baseball ⚾
Those 1993 Blue Jays are usually ranked amongst the best 30 baseball teams of all time
That was a HELL of a Blue Jays team. That 93' Phillies team was pretty good too. The White Sox too.
@@briancarter2847 if the Phillies would have won if they had a competent closer
@@reaganbush5686 Yeah, Mitch Williams blew the last 2 games for them. Phillies should've won in 6. He was always an absolute lock to give up the big hit, like clockwork. A perfect Cub. They should've never let him go.
@@guyincognito320 No shame in blowing leads to one of the greatest lineups ever.
@@briancarter2847 That Phillies team was roided out of their minds
3:22:52. The broadcaster has barely taken a breath after explaining the scoring decision and introducing the new pitcher, and Molitor's like, "We'll have that run back and another." What a boss. I remember Kruk, after the World Series that year, saying that 37-year-old Molitor had the quickest hands he had ever seen.
3:39:37 : so in 3 of the 4 series clinching plays in 1992 and 1993, Joe Carter was the last person to touch the ball (whether with his glove or with his bat)
And Candy Maldonado has the other one :)
man this channel is badass!
Love those Blue Jays!
money team
This is the only Game 6 played by the Chicago White Sox franchise in the last 65 years and second in the last 105 years
I was there. my b-day is september eighteenth, and there is a picture of me with unopened presents and my brother on the phone trying to get sox playoff tickets, long phone cord and all!
1994 was supposed to be the year for the White Sox who were now loaded. However the 1994 MLB Players Strike ended their window of opportunity. The were in first place on August 12th.
Thomas was walked with the bases loaded in this game. 10 walks in the series, .593 OBP with a homer and 3 RBI. They were none too eager to pitch to him when you had 4 other guys going 3 for 53 in the series. Thomas at this point was one of the best RH hitters who ever lived. He was the only guy from this team who was around for the 2005 WS winner. For how great he was in 93, he improved in 94, one of many who were putting up monstrous numbers until the point of the strike. The White Sox and Expos were hurt the most by the strike, because Sox's great pitching staff would not hold together into 95. 94 was their shot to win it all, but it never came.
Good Guys Wear Black, a classic Sox team built on starting pitching.
I think that 93' White Sox was better than the 2005 team. There was more parody back then.
Love Gaston shirt
Winfield and Molitor made a repeat a sure thing for these Jays.
Rest In Peace Greg Gumbel. 🙏🙏🙏😞
Great commercials. The jays teams from the mid 80s to mid 90s underachieved for the teams they fielded. That club should've had 4 WS in those 10 years.
Alex Fernandez was great!!!
First, I thank you for uploading the whole 1993 ALCS between these 2 clubs. =)
And second....I'm wondering if you also have the whole 1992 ALCS between the Blue Jays and Athletics? < = )
Holy shit. The umps did everything they could to help the Sox, especially n the 3rd inning.
That's crazy at that velocity Cora deliberately sticking his elbow out into the strike zone so the ball would hit him he'd got on base I suppose it's understandable in a playoff game so your best hitter can to hit with basses loaded .
The biggest reason that the Sox didn’t win this series. Black Jack Mcdowell. 0-2. Got hit around. And Bo Jackson’s big mouth. He didn’t return next year.
neon man was in houston in '05, too. A little older, none wiser.
Pat O'Brien was ailing with laryngitis this night-- hence his absence from the coverage.
John Olerud!
I just came here after reading the news that Greg Gumbel has just passed away from cancer at the age of 78. 😢
In 1994, had it not been for the strike, the Chicago White Sox would have had a decent shot of winning The World Series. But, in 2005, The Chicago White Sox did win The World Series.
Probably would of been them and the expos in the world series
Not into dudes, but the #Chisox #Hriniak swings are sexy. Later when I was battin 4th for beer league softball would add a slight booty wiggle to go along with 'coilback' and bat shoulder taps for the ladies😅
BTW #JimKaatHOF would bring up Hriniak incessantly during his tenure with #TwinsMLB '88 season when he was TV broadcaster #KMSP #WCCO2 #MSFCTV #MSC
In HS unfortunately I was taught to have weight to the front foot, all screwed up😮
Alex Fernández pitched a beautyful game, Frank Thomas had to make the catch for the double play even though Cora throw was bad. But again all come down to the managers, why gene lamont had to take Mckaskill out if he was throwing extremely well and already had one out in the 9th inning with no one on base. Maybe Tom Kelly or myself could have won it in extra innings and eventually winninig the series in 7. The White sox could not hit either.
over time the quality of old video just gets worse and worse. which is good for the White Sox in this case.
If Chicago could have played any quality defense, they might have won it in 6, and Alex Fernandez could have been MVP…
OMG, so good to see white people in commercials.
The White Sox could not win at home in this series. If they would have just won one home game ,they would have had a better chance.
Man what could have happened. The White Sox were so close to the World Series this year. They matched up well with the Blue Jays. What could have been.
@@retrostuff8976 The Blue Jays got it done on the field ,They still had momentum from previous year.
5 of the 6 games in this series were won by the road team( the Blue Jays' win in Game 5 was the only home victory in the 6 games played ).
Greg Lamont screwed this team up Big time
Hhh
