I have an associates degree in Computer Information Systems and a Bachelors in Organizational Management. I was going to take MIS but took this route. It's basically the same roles. My job track out of college was Computer Programmer, Programmer Data Analyst, Senior Software Designer, Senior Software Developer, Security Analyst, Project Manager. Today I work as Independent Contractor and Entreprenurial.
@@ElevateToTheUnknown This is 25+ years of experience in this industry. I also have quote a few certifications, which in these times are almost required for top pay.
I am currently perusing a degree in BSBA ITM. Thanks for the information and I think i will get that Google certificate you mentioned since I did enjoy learning about database management.
Wow! Great content. I have just graduated with BSc Hons in Information Technology from Limkokwing university of Creative Technology and I have been accepted in to the program of masters of science in MIS at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In 2 months time I will be going for my F-1 visa interview for Fall 2023
I’ve been monitoring to be a information security analyst because I wanna start on the security side of MIS. This video opened up potential entry level jobs since I graduate in a year but I was hoping you could give me a tip on the security side of MIS🙏🏽.
Look into the role of an information security analyst and the qualifications and try to fill the gap on the skills they are asking for that you don't have. Take Udemy or Coursera courses to fill that gap.
I recently graduated with my degree in MIS with specialization in Information Security Management with a 3.5 gpa. I’ve been applying for months to these kinds of entry level jobs but have had not even one interview. I’m trying to stay positive/hopeful but it’s really starting to get to me. I don’t have any directly related work experience, just work experience from part time jobs I’ve had throughout school. Any tips that you have that can help me land my first job?
Have you tried internships through your school? Or trying the job boards at your school . For instance, my school has a job board called Handshake. It's an app that the school uses to connect graduating students with job prospects. Also, look into getting hired at your school. Many schools like hiring their alumni. Hope this helps 💗
Great Content, I’ve finished my BBA in ITM a few months ago. I’m interested in working in the Cybersecurity field. I’ve been having trouble finding an entry level job in Cybersecurity.
Look into qualification of the role that you want to get by reviewing many of the job postings on LinkedIn. Figure out what skills you are missing and fill them. Once you have 60% of the requirements you need to apply.
I’m thinking of double majoring in physics and MIT. My company will pay for me to get a bachelors in MIT but not physics. I love physics so that’s where I’m at.
thank you for the video! I chose mis over cs and im about 3 weeks in. Though i like it and its interesting cs just doesnt seem to leave my mind. i dont particularly like it more its just that with mis i wont be really good at coding nor will i be really good at business. i feel like with cs atleast ill be really good at coding and ill be able to just get an mba when i get tired of it and want to do somethig else. what do you think? im lost over here.
Hi. I am currently doing senior secondary school and about to go into college with subjects like accountancy, business studies, economics in school. How difficult will it be to go for a management information system degree ? I have no IT background so can I do it ? Will it require high level of coding or IT skills ?
Man, I like your information, but I really feel like these salaries are seriously low for these career fields. I just received my degree in Business Administration with a concentration in MIS. I am also strong in computer programming. I just feel like the knowledge is worth way more that $64000.
@@ElevateToTheUnknown I am actually currently in the USAF. I have been weighing my options. Right now I make north of 80K, so I am trying to see if there are better opportunities.
@@michaelmay6791yes these salaries are low because these are entry level. Your military experience and transferable skills will allow for you to make a lot more.
@@ElevateToTheUnknown That makes sense. In saying that, I should probably be shooting for something a little higher than entry level.
