Finally a Phil we can all like.
@@berict Now we just need to find a Scott we can all like.
What’s the name of the first song?
@@heavenlywithhishandsgo to Scottland. I'm sure you'll find someone called Scott that you'll like
Any chance we'd be able to play this on the PC port of OoT, Ship of Harkinian?
I wish they made a new Zelda with the hero of time. That link just has a special place in my heart
Well hey, they made Link Between Worlds, it's not impossible that they could revisit this timeline somehow. I'd like to see Zelda games be Zelda games again. Cel shaded Dark Souls with durability mechanics just doesn't do it for me at all.
They should make one about his life after he returns from termina, as an adult, after he's been married & has kids. The end should be him dying in the lost woods but navi returns right before he croaks
@@hypercynicNever play Windwalker if you don't want cel shaded games with timing button prompt dodges
@@hypercynicIt's fine if you don't like Breath of the Wild but how on earth do you get Dark Souls from that? And Dark Souls already has durability mechanics...?
How awesome would it be if we played a game where we saw how the Hero of Time became the Hero's Shade? It could be a really dark and depressing downfall arc where Link becomes disillusioned with his quest and turns his back on the goddesses.
I know, it's super edgy and there's no way Nintendo would ever do it but it's still a cool idea.
OOT will forever hold a special place in my heart. I had a really good childhood, but the N64 and especially OOT were still some of the best memories. Even now I sometimes go back watching a speedrun, listening to the sounds or music, or playing the game myself. An absolute masterpiece!
same .
Me too!! This game literally was the greatest thing to stand out in my childhood. I still love zelda music to this day... Even stuff from TP, SS.
Ocarina of Time in particular had a subtle but very deep undercurrent of "zen" and philosophical wisdom to it that made you really feel, within the game, a part of nature itself rather than just some character plonked into a world. There's a certain pacing, quietude and maturity to the storytelling and wisdom in the game that stands out. I even felt, as a kid, that it really helped prepare me for the pains of growing up and being shoved into a darker world full of serious responsibilities. There's a serious meditative quality to it, if you allow yourself to get absorbed. It's a similar vibe that you find in old Miyazaki epics like Mononoke. By the end of OoT you actually feel like you've genuinely been on an adventure in another reality and it can be very emotional. Most games even now I feel just sort of like I've completed a game...that was cool, NEXT! Whereas OoT left me contemplating it and real life very deeply for years.
I love the spirit temple music, its my personnel favorite!!
@@AD-kv9kjVery profound assessment of the lasting impact this game can have. Im in my thirties now, yet still periodically return to this masterpeice. You really hit the nail on the head regarding the quiet wisdom and deepness to the game that I haven't heard explained as well as this.
As a kid, I always wondered what the inside of Hyrule Castle looked liked, and this game is showcases EXACTLY how I pictured it. It seems like such an interesting rom hack!
23:46 this hack has so much Twilight Princess stuff in it, I kinda love it
Two minutes in, gets Kokiri sword
“Now we can do things!”
*12 year old link proceeds to slaughter all guards in his way*
young link is actually 9 in OOT
@@disrespecc9678 eh you got what I mean lol
I thought he was 11-12 cuz in mm he has a slight voice crack which implies hes old enough for puberty. Guess he got it early
@@That_Epseon99 he’s voiced by a female, might be a part of why
@@That_Epseon99 also in majoras mask, it’s after oot, so he could be 12 there
I want to see an OoT sequel that utilizes the original Hyrule Field but opens up new areas beyond it.
I think OOT Indigo does this.
They were going to make one. Zelda URA it's called. However they scrapped the project due to lack of memory on the N64. They were also working on an extension for N64 so you could have two games in simultaneously to increase the memory but that never got popular. Instead they made Master Quest and Majoras Mask. But yes, I would love to see this.
@@Reoko77 Do you now how to play it??
@nathanmakarov7540 Technically, its not finished. Its coming out in chapters with them only up to chapter 2 and then the full release will have everything in all at once.
We probably wont see something big about it for a few more months or so since people are still upgrading and improving the engine to this day and the creator wants to add more stuff to it. Hell, im still waiting for the new F3 Zelda 64 beta to come out. Thats been quiet ever since the trailer got dropped but its still being made.
@@Reoko77 Do you know how to download it ?
I always thought that the original game was lacking a couple more overworld locations.
Maybe I’m asking too much and I know those 32MB N64 Cartridges were very limited, but I always thought that there should have been
an entire area dedicated to the Sheikah Tribe called Sheikah Ruins where the Light Temple would be, in the space between Lake Hylia and Kokiri Forest.
From what I've read about the original game there was supposed to be a full temple of light like the temple of time, and a full ice temple which is why the ice caverns kinda feels unfinished. Some people said there was originally a wind temple thats why there are big fans in the shadow temple
I like how your cat has it's own chair. Good looking out.
A really good upcoming Sequel for OoT and MM is Kenton-m’s upcoming “Indigo quest” game. Played the chapter 2 demo and I highly recommend it if you haven’t played it.
do you know how i can play this game??
I gotta say, I love how your cat chills out with you in their own chair!
I am grateful this video showed up in my feed, automatic "like," but I had to stop watching it after a couple minutes. OoT is my G.O.A.T. and I am going to play this blind. I cant tell you how much I appreciate seeing this and have the opportunity to try OoT with a fresh new way to play. cheers!
Zelda / Mario romhacks just make me feel like I am having a fever dream after I fell asleep playing the originals lmao I do love this one though it looks like alot of effort went into it!
Lmao like those dreams you have of your house where there are extra rooms that don't exist irl
Dude this is EXACTLY how i feel playing or watching OOT mods
This was so cool! Thank you for posting this play-through. You made it fun to watch and some of those areas were areas I wish could have been in the original or a follow-up, like the tree house area or the sewers and a few more! Awesome job to the folks who put so much hard work into making this version
I’m confused, is this a re-telling of ocarina of time with a new custom map or a sequel because it doesn’t really make a lot sense as being a sequel. It contradicts a lot established lore like Link becoming an adult again through the master sword, visiting the sage, etc.
It’s definitely a retelling…got a lot of similarity’s…
Not a sequel, but an alternate universe where Koume and Kotake get the King to imprison the Kokiri while still bringing Ganon to power
youre really criticizing a fan made game….
@@x27club we aren’t criticizing😂 we are just discussing whether this is a retelling of ocarina of time or a sequel…never once did we nitpick or insult the game we just can’t agree on it being a sequel since it would ruin the lore of ocarina of time…even if it was a sequel it’s not like we hate the game
@@x27clubfangames aren’t immune from criticism just because they are fangames
love all the edits that ya add in. i get a laugh at all them cause they come out of left field all the time!
I wish more N64 Zelda mods were released on cartridges
friend really said "link to the patch" and let it slide without a zelda joke
1 minute in. I'm at work.. I.. must.. play this.. TONIGHT
4:09 Gaurd: well I’m getting fired 4:09
The first thing I thought when I saw the guard after you woke up in the dungeon was "it'd be cool if this was a link to the past type of deal where the guards are brainwashed by the big bad" and I'm eagerly waiting to see if I was right or if it's gonna be something better
They’re implied to be Ganondorf’s soldiers as they’re the ones that attacked Kokiri Forest
SPOILER WARNING
.
.
.
.
.
Yea that's pretty much it. Soldiers are implied to be under Ganon's control thanks to the Twinrova witches. You even run into one regretful soldier who dies/passes out drunk later in the game, who says they were "just following orders."
The Lot of Chests in the Catacombs makes sense actually. Some People have Specific Sentimental Items and Prized Possessions buried with them or at least in the Catacombs where they are laid to Rest.
This was incredible. I wonder if anyone did anything like this for Majora's Mask?
No.
There's the HD texture pack tho!
Not a new game, but yea just look up a video about the Masked Quest hack and there should be a link for the rom in the description. For more or less, it's the Master Quest version of Majora's Mask. Same game but things changed around and made harder.
I wonder if the 3 day mechanic makes it difficult to design around.. like obviously it'd be possible (the base game literally is an example) but like.. wonder if just the odd time limit makes it awkward
@@ajdow1424 Shouldn't that be the "Masked-er Quest"?
...I'll see myself out.
Damn the last time a good sequel to Ocarina of Time came out, it was 2000
There is plenty more of good mods like this, you just gotta do some research
@@pkyt2458Problem is a lot of mods and hacks totally suck, so you wind up waiting for others to try them out
@@zippymufo9765 fair but you have 17 more from the romhack competition now so it’s quite an abundance now but I do agree with how most mods aren’t the best I mainly played the full length hacks and the short hacks that were good but ye that’s about it
@@zippymufo9765 It wasn't until mods like Movie Battles II (Star Wars Jedi Academy), Pokémon Crystal Clear and Super Smash Bros. 64 Remix that I realized there really are hacks out there that have the same quality of a commercially released product.
Before then I just avoided them because I figured there'd be some clear quality differentials and it wouldn't be worth the effort of installation. (Movie Battles II was the first I ever tried, and it was as simple as a drag and drop into the game's folder. Immediately opened my eyes.)
I mean not really the strangest place to put redeads because at least half if not most of our deaths are (in the past) from mountain climbing, when we didn't have the best equipment
This kind of Zelda game is what we have desperately needed & still do. The N64 Zelda games were so good!
It's not really a sequel to ocarina of time. Its like a retelling if Link just stayed in bed and there to collect the spiritual stones or get the master sword in the first place and ganondorfs plans took place earlier. You end up getting all the same spiritual stones and medallions as you would in the normal ocarina of time game.
This is so sick, this is the type of rom I’ve always dreamed of especially with all the rumors of hidden extra dungeons in oot since the games release
I guess this is more of a retelling of OoT but with heavy elements from both MM and TP. Granted more so to better include a lot of the geographical differences TP had compared to OoT since it's the next game in the child timeline to take place in the same Hyrule, just 100(or 200) years in the future while MM took place in Termina.
Personally I think this is pretty cool. It might be unpolished and glitchy but it does have potential if they worked on the actual dialog. Think the devs missed an golden opportunity to create a storyline to explain what happened to Hyrule that lead to the war and capturing/failed execution of Ganondorf. It wouldn't even need bosses per se but using Link(and possible Zelda and the sages) to expose Ganondorf's true intentions and the impending dangers that will eventually lead to Hyrule going to war with the Gerudo tribe(maybe having loyal Gerudo warriors and Iron Knuckles as the main confict). All we know is at the end of OoT Link told Zelda about what Ganondorf was up to and in MM we know he left Hyrule with the OoT to keep Ganondorf out of the Sacred Realm. What happened to the kingdom next is only partially explained in TP and that Link did die eventually but was a father(TP's Link is a canon blood descendent of OoT's Link). Maybe in the future we'll get another fan made game from them.
I played this entire game only to glitch out literally right before the Gannon fight. Good game though.
Which one, Phantom Ganon or real Ganon? Same shit happened to me before Phantom Ganon. Was able to buy another N64 cartridge from another seller & beat it all the way thru.
dark souls owes so much to OOT
bosses espcially 3d ones are one of the hardest time consuming things to program. I don't blame the recycling gohma
didnt even know about this channel subbed. ;3
With the Majora’s Mask Recompile becoming available, and the idea that they want OOT to be in a single Launcher, I would LOVE to see this mod get more eyes on it!
23:05 bro I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time. That reaction was priceless
Nintendo:”pull the trigger”
Man that third dungeon had total silent hill vibes
mr phil love your content and commentary, you should also take A look at the OOT Mod called Missing link, is A very good fan made mod that's A direct Sequel to Ocarina of time and prequel to Majora Mask
shoot i figured it’d be a video on the missing link from a few years back but this is a whole new one? let’s go!
10:35 The face in the darkness kinda freaked me out.
Obviously seems like a really well done game, all the new areas and things is awesome to watch you explore in ocarina of time type mechanics. I get they reused the game assets and whatnot but if I had to make a small complaint would have been cool to see some new bosses. But pretty much everything else looks very interesting. Would like to give this game a try eventually.
24:58 The Darknut cleaved that turtle in two. 😂
10:35 That face kinda startled me lmao
I unintentionally soft-locked myself in the first dungeon/level where you’re escaping from prison.
Found myself in a room that required me to light a torch or otherwise shoot one of those golden eye switches on the wall above a door- all doors were barred shut (with the metal bars over them), and there was literally no way out since I did not have the items the game wanted me to have, nor did I know where to get them (as I had, to my knowledge, looked everywhere else I COULD access.
After that soft-lock incident, I closed the game and haven’t picked it up since. If I can have that happen in the FIRST level of the game, who’s to say what’s possible in later dungeons.
One of those armos statues was an enemy and unlocked the door you were supposed to go through.
There is indeed a key issue in the intro dungeon but the worst that can happen is you lock yourself out of a gold rupee.
Yeah it’s the room at 3:14.
I thought the same, but no amount of rolling into, pushing, smacking, or ocarina-playing got them to trigger; so my only take based on your response there is that they were bugged when I encountered them.
All the more reason for me, personally, not to revisit the mod. But there’s plenty of gameplay videos out now that I’ll just watch instead of playing further.
No indie game will have that much polish. Sorry but you'll likely run into soft locks in any mod. I actually got soft locked after the tutorial level on XCOM 2 so it's not even indie games. If it happens early in your save then I think you should be patient and try again.
That damage boosted ultra swan dive right onto a gold skulltula was a once in a lifetime pog moment lol
OOT and TP amazing. But Oot just the best ever. Idk if any Zelda will too that. Even BOTW and TOTK couldn’t do it, it just don’t feel the same at all. I am so happy to be born in the early 90s. I miss the old Link, I don’t even buy TOTK. With that all being said, Nintendo definitely need to go back to this kinda Zelda structure and style and expand on it like honestly. Idk how people are having with new Zelda and all the weapons are just not significant like it use to be. Thank you to the fans for making dreams come true I appreciate you guys for making us dream once again. I will definitely be playing this. I hope this continues and many more Zelda games in this style 😍
I honestly think the Moon's song sounds really nice. Alot better than most other songs that sound creepy in reverse.
how do we get this to play? i went onto the link you provided and tried to download but didnt work on my laptop. what kind of system do i need to play this on!! omgg someone help me out im new to this but me and my son love zelda and would love to play this.
The face in the abyss T.T That was so spook
the interesting thing about sealed palace is that you have to go through tons of hoops to 100% it.
Why They Made Child Goron Tunic: Young Tourist Wanting To Blow Some Stuff Up
1:02:35 Crystal Virginseal. if she got married Gannon couldn't cast this on her anymore.
I feel like I'd get bored with this within an hour. You start in a dungeon that's way too big and complex with annoying soldiers wandering all around that catch you when you see them. That's my problem with most fangames, they tend to turn things up to extreme levels of complexity and/or difficulty from the get go. They're never made for those who want a similar kind of experience that the original offers, they're mostly meant for those who wants something that's way harder and more complex than the original game.
When you got the Kokiri Sword I instantly felt the same way I did when I first played Ocarina of Time over 22 years ago!
Now with the decompiled version of the game they can even add bosses to this.
Can't believe they put silent hill in OOT
Actually it's more a parallel universe than sequel
"Dude, they put scary, Shadow Temple music in the Church. That is terrifying. "
I mean, yeah, you're a child. Tell me one place more terrifying
11:26 the red rupee got changed to 15 instead of 20. 13:21 blue rupee got changed to 3 instead of 5
44:21 you could say link found a skeleton in a closet.
I forgot i actually wanted to play through this. I'm glad the algorithm blessed me with this video tonight.
Wonder if they actually added the triforce to find... Anyone from back then remember all the crazy conspiracies that the triforce was somewhere in the game hidden. lol
I was so happy when WW finally introduced it as an option, but sad when I realized it couldn’t be used to power link up :(
It’s like Link ate something bad and having a whacky dream going through the pains of Food Poisoning 👀and watch, we’ll see Ganondorf again playing the bagpipes next to a goat
wait wait wait. the way you beat salfos is stunning with deku nuts? I've been doing it the hard way all my life.
Phil it’s way too late for this but I still watching😂
Optimal degen upload schedule
All I want is a mod that makes it so if you go fast enough to beat the running man, a quest line opens up that allows you to go back in time, enter the sacred realm, and beat Gannon to the triforce.
your editor is GOATed
The cat on the gamer chair in the bg wtf😂
My guess is the bosses and stones etc are the same because they probably just used the underlying triggers and everything and built around it.
The cat chilling having his own gamer chair made me sub. nothing to do with this cool ass video tho. kitty gang.
jk content is dope too but the cat having his own chair is LEGIT.
0:26 -> Link, in the 'sacred realm' finds one of the most 'sacred' items of all time... -Zelda's panties!- I mean, hey, I don't blame the guy. It's definitely a worthwhile item to hold onto.
51:08 you dont need the nairu love for that part if you use the ice arrow.
I love the longevity of this game.
It’s refreshing to see that we still have some very creative people around these days
I'm only like a third in and I told myself I wasn't going to watch the whole thing cuz I'm going to play it for myself but dude I did you play the original Ocarina of Time I guess it's just been a long time. They definitely put a lot of effort into this really cool layout but they kept a lot of the basics. Also I'm sorry it gave me so much joy watching you fail at the flooded minds I was like he's water temple-ing. Also around the time I'm writing this you just beat the down go down go and I believe in the beginning you said there were no new enemies soooo... 😅🤷♀️
But I agree all the new dungeon layouts and everything looks so good
I am living for this!!! Time temple: Haunted wasteland is awesome
Looks more like the slightly upgraded Majoras Mask engine and textures instead of the OOT ones.
1:04:21 Hidden Fairy in the right upper corner. Give me cookie pls
Gonna play this before fully watching the video to remain spoiler free.
So I am wondering if this works with the PC Port of OoT (Ship of Hikarian) or not. Because if so I would love to get this patch and play the game on that.
I was just wondering that as well
@@krm2095 It would be so awesome if this does work. Because i have Ship of Hikarian and i beated a normal playthrough of OoT, thinking of doing a 100% run and i'm also doing a randomizer. But having this would be awesome.
@@jacksonbloodmoon3787 oh yeah this would be really cool. I’ve been doing OoT randomizers pretty frequently and they’re a blast
As a big music man i like the odes to music but i didn’t feel any swing/jazz from the waltz
The march also felt weak and most marches are energetic
I will probably not be playing this only because of the fact that there's no custom bosses. To me the most fun part about any game is fighting new enemies/bosses.
Game overall looks pretty cool though
My husband just sits upstairs all day eating beans
This is like one of many dreams I had of playing either Majoras Mask or Ocarina of Time lol I gotta play this
Underrated comment 👌🏼
cat has his own gamer chair I’m gonna die I’m in love
just to be clear I’m in love with the cat
I haven't seen anything that well done since my aunt ordered a steak at a restaurant.
You know when something LOOKS fan made, this looks fan made. and yes I know its fan made.
I don't see how this is an OoT sequel because there's three ways OoT ends.
1) child Link goes back in time to warn of Ganondorf's evil intentions, he slated to be executed, and we get MM and TP.
2) adult Link seals Ganon away, and when Ganon comes back there's no hero of time to stop him so we get WW, PH, and ST
3) Link is killed fighting Ganon
in none of those scenarios is there room for the Kokiri to be imprisoned in Hyrule Castle by soldiers acting under Ganondorf's orders
the revamped water temple was awesome
I love the Scott pilgrim reference at 13:48
47:59 'MAKE US WHOLE'

Dude, the amount of detail in this is astounding!
Stupid question... What platform can this played on? It's not Project64.
Thats the Ganon's castle we needed in OoT
