the floating leg thing is so stupid. this only works in a league where ghost kicks are scored as points and actual well executed kicks are penalized for "excessive contact"
well i guess this is a new revolution for karate tournament, the tatami area is looking more large and very clear because the manager / coach and the judges are sitting together without any screaming from coach who wants to say something to the athlete, seems more calmdown, because whatever of the result for the winner everything based on referee decision only. Good idea.
Using this type of feigned kick only serves as a distance “spacer”, & when it’s used this repetitively, it does nothing except to make an astute opponent aware of when to come in with a strong offense, based on those repeatedly telegraphed feigns. Some feign kicks can be effective, if it’s not overdone, & changing it up like using a feigned low front kick spun into a high roundhouse, if legs are your strong suit is much less obvious.
