- In a faraway land where the rain never stops, six-year-old Kyna spends her days playing carelessly with her dog Nana under the protective "umbrella beard" of her father, Din. He let it grow in order to shelter Kyna, who developed fear of rain on the day she was born. One night, Kyna’s life turns upside down when Nana disappears. To find her, Kyna will have to embark on an adventure of self discovery and she will be bound to face her great fear, the Rain.

"Umbrella" it is symbolise "shelter & protection" of a father or single parent; the lesson is that over protecting can lead to a child can't stand alone until the child will learn how to face challenges and stand on her/his own feet to protect other 😊

I thought the girl was just scared of water due to the trauma lol
We protect our kids for as long as we can. But inevitably kids must one day risk the pain, hardship, and loss that comes with learning to love and protect for themselves.
The kid in the video had to take that risk to save the puppy, and discovered that the world is actually a beautiful harmony of the light of loving someone who needs you and the raindrops that come from feeling their pain.

Lots of metaphors, single dad struggling to keep his daughter safe from the harsh elements, then the single doggy gets a puppy too ,a miracle, after the rescue dad gets a makeover
I loved how the father's beard was shaped like an umbrella, as a symbol used for the protection of the girl. But once she was able become strong she helped cut it almost to say she no longer needed his protection & the father knew this and that's where the story finished ❤
How does a story about umbrellas get me closer to crying than sad movies?
Enjoyable animation even without thinking about metaphors, meanings or lessons learned from the story.

Such a wonderful reminder of the memory when I was first introduced to rain and how I reacted to it I felt the tenderness throughout. I wondered also that if she didn't have a hole in her umbrella would she be with another family ...
That's a great thought. The umbrella would have flown differently for sure if it did not have a tear, so it is a bit of a metaphor for fate, too!

Luckily no one suffered any damage except that the large red beard resembling a thatched roof got cut to manageable size. 🤣

Getting rid of phobias and fears is a real blessing
You don't see a lot of metaphors/mention of Hydrophobia in animation. This was a heartfelt and thought provoking watch and I quite enjoyed it.

I can see this also being about overcoming trauma. The child experiences something that terrifying as a baby which affects them as they grow. The parent does their best to help manage it and even comes up with a coping method. But eventually the parent has to leave and the child has to face it alone. It can be scary to face it alone.

Percebo essa animação como uma analogia a vida, na infância os filhos veem o mundo através dos olhos paternos, depois começam a dar seus próprios passos ainda com a visão paterna, até encontrar seu próprio caminho, o seu porque lutar. Com relação a paternidade fala sobre os medos ao deixar os filhos caminhar sozinhos, até perceberem que está tudo bem e então voltar a si mesmo, além da paternidade.

У меня создалось впечатление, что это не столько о семейной любви, сколько о детской травме. Кина всю жизнь боялась попасть под дождь из-за того, что в детстве был неприятный опыт. Однако в этом мире дождь - это неотъемлемая часть мира и не является сколь-либо отрицательным явлением. С тем же результатом она могла бы обжечься на солнце, загнать занозу в лесу или быть засыпанной снегом. Дождь же выбран, как мне кажется, из-за того, что он больше цепляет наше зрительское восприятие. Но девочка столкнулась с этим аспектом жизни слишком рано. Причём не по чьей-то вине - просто так получилось. Другие дети, имевшие до определённого момента защиту, вполне себе радостно играют под дождём. И вот тут уже показывает себя родительская любовь, когда отец самостоятельно защищает дочь от того, что её пугает, потом даёт ей способ самой защищаться и в конце Кина становится способной не воспринимать дождь как угрозу. Именно поддержка отца смогла сделать процесс принятия настолько безболезненным, насколько это возможно. Тут ещё хочется восхититься тем, как авторы играют со "светом", когда мир под дождём тёмен и грустен, а под зонтом светел. В какой-то момент я и сам забыл, что это лишь искаженное восприятие ребёнка и благодаря этому полностью испытал чувства героини, когда мир окрасился в цвета. И в целом визуальная часть великолепна, такое 2d я люблю.
UPD: когда пересматривал, заметил интересную звуковую деталь. На протяжении почти всей короткометражки на фоне стоит звук дождя (причём разный), но он пропадает, когда Кина спасает щенка, подчеркивая, что в том момент она смогла о дожде попросту забыть. И когда она его замечает, звук возвращается.
