  • October 4-10, 2020 was Mental Illness Awareness Week.
For each day of that week I will be shared about my personal mental health journey highlights for each year I have been in Canada. This is part of my way of destigmatizing mental illness and mental health challenges.
As an Immigrant, a black woman, and a Christian, I know each of those groups DO NOT like to talk about these mental health/illness, yet we have lots of people suffering in silence, due to stigma and it does not have to be that way.
So I thought to undo the culture of silence on this and share part of my story with you. YOU ARE NOT ALONE and YOU CAN OVERCOME.
Part one tells the highlights of my first three years and struggles. Dealing with people's expectations, postpartum depression, financial challenges and mental health.
