    I fly all the time with my dog and all you have to do is make sure you follow the airlines requirements very very carefully - and that is all you have to do - I just watched this video of these two adults complaining they were rejected but never showed the size of their crate and it was huge for the 4 seconds they showed it. but they never showed the size of the crate or what the airlines requirements were hmmmmm but its never a problem if you do what you are told to do. your puppy is so cute.

    Excellent video and very helpful to see the actual journey to get your puppy in Alaska.
    My husband will be flying next week to Portugal and back home in Canada to get our 11w old puppy (Portuguese Water Dog).
    Question : on the plane, do you went to the bathroom with puppy to get him peeing on a pee pas on the floor? Or put a pee pad on the bottom of the carrier bag?

      We did not, but it just depends on the gate agent you get on the day of. I have not heard of puppies being turned away, but I know of people with dogs who were slightly too tall and were turned away when checking in.

    • @kiararedlick4199
      @kiararedlick4199 2 года назад +2

      I’ll be flying out with mine this week with my 20lb aussie, all the dimensions for airline in cabin pets are pretty small but I think there’s some flexibility with soft sided kennels. For example I took mine to the airport and asked different airlines and they approved it. I bought the SHERPA Meduim expandable carrier, it’s 19.25x11x11 with soft sides. The expandable side is a great feature to add some extra room for your pup!

    Hi! I a clip of your corgi getting in the carrier and turning around. Can you tell me what the size the carrier was? I saw it looked like a Roverlund carrier. I'm getting ready to take my first flight with my corgi mix (about 29 pounds) and I'm nervous about the whole turn around thing or her being comfortable in it. I still have to buy a carrier! How much does your corgi/new dog weigh and did the carrier hold up ok carrying it?

      Hey how did it go? I want to take my 20 pound dog to Florida this month and it’s driving me crazy to decide between cabin vs cargo option.

    • @nonenone5583
      @nonenone5583 Год назад +2

      @@thewisdommenu I bought an XL sturdibag and flew southwest. No issues. The bag is flexible so that helped a lot. The trick was to turn the bag sideways and slide in from the aisle then put under the seat (dog is in it the whole time). We had a middle seat. I was stressed about the whole thing, but my dog did great. I would say you need a well behaved, calm dog or you’ll have a nightmare on your hands. Our flight was delayed (sitting on the runway for an extra hour and half) plus a 2 hour flight. Dog was in the bag under the seat the whole time. Prepare for the unexpected.

    theoretically since you have to provide a health certification to travel with a dog wouldnt the airport relief areas be relatively safe considering a vet would have to sign off that the animal is healthy and UTD on shots?

    • @emackmar

      without vaccines for something like parvo, its dangerous anywhere. you dont want to risk losing the life of your new dog.

      Maybe pick it up with some paper towels, put it on the serving tray and tell the flight attendant the food tastes like $hit? Or maybe just flush the paper towel and poop down the on board commode.

      Having the carrier with a puppy pad or going to the bathroom with a pad and the puppy should work. Then you dump the pad in the trash/throw the waste in the toilet and flush

    I went to Florida with my dog 3 months ago. She was always crying. I opened the bag and I pet her. But the cabin attendant was very angry with it. " Don't let the dog out of the bag. " She hates bag very much. What do you think I should do for her next trip?

  • @independent900

    One point I'd add to this video is that the size of your crate depends on both the plane and the section of your seat (at least it did on Delta). In order for me to have the right-sized crate, I had to select the flight with a particular plane, and I had to upgrade to 1st class. Boeing 737-XXX has different underseat space than an Airbus XXX, and model numbers mattered. Delta had good info on their web site, but it was a pain to orchestrate the combination of plane, underseat space, and crate size.

    Questions!
    Q1: Can you take your puppy out during the flight?
    Q2: Can you open the carrier during the flight and feed your puppy?(I did watch the video and you did on this one, so I assume it's okay?? :P)
    Q3: How were you able to feed water during the flight to puppy?
    Thank you!

    • @bricesicle
      @bricesicle 11 месяцев назад

      No you can’t unless they are a service dog, you can do that depending on what your flight attendant says, you generally want to have your puppy potty before the flight and keep water and food away

She might bark at any distractions and I am concerned she could disturb other passengers. Do you have any suggestions on how to minimizes this potential problem.
