    This is a DIY video showing how I use Inktense Blocks by Derwent to add color on fabric. I also turn this free-motion design into a zippered pouch. An easy sewing tutorial.

    Another one of yours I’m saving in my sewing playlist. Zippers have always seemed another language to me, but you make it seem comprehensible. And as an artist, I love Inktense blocks and pencils.

      Hi Barbara, Zippers use it give me hives!LOL I saw this easy method a few years back and I no longer fear zippers! I hope you give it a try. I love the Inktense too- so many possibilities. Thanks for watching!

    I love what you did. You did not treat the fabric prior to coloring in….wow! I am a colorist and a « new » quilter. This method appeals to me A LOT! Thank you.

    So glad to find your videos! I have loads of fabric, scraps, yarn, trims, and I have made quilts, clothes, etc, and have lots of leftovers! Somehow I love playing with the scraps more than making the bigger projects! You are the perfect inspiration for me!! Thanks so much for sharing so many great ideas!!

    I happened upon this video a week ago Saturday. I spent all day Sunday watching all your videos (and a lot of time since). Julia I’m so happy to have found you and am subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy the way you walk us through and narrate every maneuver you make and also give us permission to not be perfect. It’s really okay and wonderful things happen when we “let go” - seems like in a way the less we care about getting everything perfect, the better our project turns out. If you look at many of the great painters of past, they certainly don’t worry if everything is perfect, and that freedom is evident in their work. So thank you so much for everything. You are a real inspiration to me and no doubt
    countless others.

    I feel like a kid watching your videos! So excited to get supplies. I am a seamstress and have tons of fabric, yarns, and threads but adding free motion and ink takes it to a new level for me. I can't wait to see if you have a video on actually writing on fabric. i love to hand letter but have not combined the two

      HI, I have been collecting art supplies for a while but never used them until I started combining art and sewing. It was a light bulb went off! I also found that heat setting really helps to set most paints, etc into the fibers. I have been trying to add writing with free motion stitching this year. I have been enjoying your tutorials for about a year now and have tried several of your techniques - each one inspires me to try something new! I tried using the intense pencils on some white cotton fabric and had a ton of wicking beyond my boundaries. Am I using too much water or is it the fabric do you think? Thanks so much! Marj

    • @brdrug
      @brdrug 4 года назад +1

      Hi Marj, I haven't done this yet but have been watching a bunch of you tube videos. One trick was to NOT wash the fabric first. That keeps the sizing in and helps prevent bleeding. Also, don't use water, there are a few different fabric fixatives, she mentions one in the video. you canalso draw lightly with the pencils first and then use the fabric meduim on top to bring out the color. Good luck!

    Its not permanent on fabric when dry. It wash out on the fisrt wash . It fades alot and isnt so vibrant any more. Inktense vades on fabric after the fisrt wash. If you use textile medium with it it dulls down the colours . Maby will be good if not going to be washed .

      This is a little zippered bag. I believe it measured 8" x 10"

    I don't understand why you didn't print directly onto the fabric on an inkjet printer - Epson are ideal with their brand of ink which is washing fast once heat set. Alternatively, in the absence of a printer you could use dressmakers carbon paper and trace simple designs on.
