My favorite part of Chain of Memories is how Riku can just "smell" darkness, and it's never brought up outside of this game. My boy can just smell a villains stank and not one person has questioned it.
It actually is, in a way. Xehanort says he feels the darkness inside Terra. But other than that, Riku and Xehanort are the only ones with direct Defacto Darkness detection senses. Which kind of makes sense if Riku has control of the darkness Xehanorts heartless had

I seriously believe Zexion's death was the most unnecessary one. Dude was just trying to make sense of everything that was going on, all Axel had to do was _lie_ to him.
He had to get rid of everyone as orders from Xem butt, also, He was trying to cover his own tracks to make sure Sora would survive, Hence pretending to die 2 times to him in this game.
Axel had two motives inside the castle. The first was as ordered by Xemnas, hunt down and kill the traitors, meaning Marluxia and Larxene. However, his second motive was to help Saix climb the ranks in the Organization, thus anyone above him needed to go, meaning Vexen, Lexeaus, and Zexion.
Fortunately Ienzo gets to redeem himself in KH III, one of the very good things that game did. I really loved Ienzo in III, whereas previously I'd just despised Zexion.

I really like how at 10:45 Riku beats Repliku with only 1 pixel of health. Feels like it shows they really are pretty evenly matched. (Riku’s just a sliver better)
I think, in a broader sense, Riku's Chain of Memory story is an interesting take on the ideas of addiction and guilt over past mistakes. The voice that Ansem often seems to portray is a similar sort of ever present temptation, and putting his story into that perspective made it all the more real. The actual moment to moment dialogue can be a bit offputting sometimes, awkward, and even downright cringey, but the broader plot themes and the way he develops is pretty cool to see. Even down to the way he literally fights against his own evil self. It's not exactly an uncommon trope for stories to follow, but it seems to be one of the deeper plot lines of the Kingdom Hearts series.

Well,i would check my old storys if i would try to write something as complex as kh.And its not defendable in this case,as its clear Nomura did not look up days again or the cutscenes at most,since Roxas meets Hayner,Pence and Olette in days,but they say they dont know him in kh3.this seems minor,but its actually not.It shows that Nomura does not go through the regular process of logical writing.You need to check everything(even if its years worth of content) to avoid plotholes to the best of your abilitys

Superslash Reverse/Rebirth Mode was absolutely rushed and it’s funny because it’s so much less of a slog to play. Sora’s stuff is fun on paper but it has too many way broken sleights and is way too grindy for getting through areas. Riku’s story not letting you order cards means you need to pay attention to the order and work with it rather than how in Sora’s you can set it up to just be Sleight City where you mash triangle and win
The reward for card breaks with riku is utterly overpowered in Re:chain with increased damage & sped up transformation animation with negligible locked movement. EDIT: in the GBA version, Riku could be card broken and hit at a much larger window when max dp is reached and has no invulnerability (along with being locked in an animation until it ended or got card broken before or after said animation) for transformation. That could spell disaster. When his DP runs out, he gets locked into a reverting animation that ceases mobility and leaves him vulnerable for about 20-30 frames before possible movement (even though the 2/3s of said animation has invulnerability). Getting card broken also drains DP before possible movement going into dark mode.
You know they skipped straight to the boss fight because they had no way of justifying why Riku was fighting bosses that Sora took cared off in KH1. I don't even think he knows who most of them are.
monstro version1(version2 is if you do it after saving kairi....its weird) is actually canon.the only boss he probably has no specific memorys of except for its looks is the wonderland boss.the problem is,why didnt they just write a scenario to make it more interessting? riku could have reflected on the events of kh1

It's because the music is god tier and tricks people into getting emotionally invested. There's also cool imagery and awesome sounding one liners that imply a way better story is being told, but are actually meaningless when you sit down and try to analyze the story. People don't like KH because of the actual garbage story being told, people like KH because of the way it made them feel
Gameplay (especially KH2FM, shit's tight dawg) Music (I honestly considered getting the rhythm game just for that remix of the main screen theme) Characters (they're all heavily flawed but they have their moments) Imagery/Designs (keyblades and magic and shit, nigga, plus the designs of characters and worlds are noice despite how hard we meme on them, also the hundreds of keyblade designs are cool to look at and the fact that the keyblade can change design inspires fanart out the ass like how Sonic inspires OCs) Disney (everyone has at least 1 Disney franchise they like and chances are it appears in or is at least referenced by a KH game) Final Fantasy (same point as the Disney one, if you like FF on any level you're bound to get at least 1 bone thrown your way) Also the fact that most people get into KH when they're in their early/mid teens. An age where emotionally charged media resonates with and sucks you in, regardless of its quality. Also at that age you don't really tend to think too critically about the media you consume. Then you get older and hindsight hits you and makes you realize how flawed the things you liked are. Also, the first 3 games of the series (in release order not story order, so KH 1, CoM, and 2) tell a somewhat solid story with a few flaws and some awkwardness. Honestly, if they had just stopped after KH2 and left the Lingering Will as an ambiguous piece of lore like how Tolkien does lore in his series then the franchise wouldn't get nearly as much flak for its story. All the convoluted bullshit started with BBS and then just kept getting more asinine with each spin off release, culminating with the mess that is KH3. Hell, KH3 only even exists because Nomura needed some way to tie up all that bullshit that started after KH2's release.
Did he though? He chose to betray his father figure very easily, he was the one with the idea to set up that lab. He chose to experiment in people unethically. Like, what Kingdom Hearts 3 says isn’t true, he was hardly manipulated by Xemnas.

Superslash Reverse/Rebirth Mode was absolutely rushed and it’s funny because it’s so much less of a slog to play. Sora’s stuff is fun on paper but it has too many way broken sleights and is way too grindy for getting through areas. Riku’s story not letting you order cards means you need to pay attention to the order and work with it rather than how in Sora’s you can set it up to just be Sleight City where you mash triangle and win
Plus, I never skipped any of Riku's cutscenes.
The reward for card breaks with riku is utterly overpowered in Re:chain with increased damage & sped up transformation animation with negligible locked movement.
EDIT: in the GBA version, Riku could be card broken and hit at a much larger window when max dp is reached and has no invulnerability (along with being locked in an animation until it ended or got card broken before or after said animation) for transformation. That could spell disaster. When his DP runs out, he gets locked into a reverting animation that ceases mobility and leaves him vulnerable for about 20-30 frames before possible movement (even though the 2/3s of said animation has invulnerability). Getting card broken also drains DP before possible movement going into dark mode.
You know they skipped straight to the boss fight because they had no way of justifying why Riku was fighting bosses that Sora took cared off in KH1. I don't even think he knows who most of them are.

Everytime I hear the dialogue and lines of a kingdom hearts game, I question how this entire series took off as is.
Dialogue aside kh is basically anime with Disney characters I think that's how it took off
A squaresoft worker and a Disney worker stepped into an elevator while the squaresoft worker was high
It's because the music is god tier and tricks people into getting emotionally invested. There's also cool imagery and awesome sounding one liners that imply a way better story is being told, but are actually meaningless when you sit down and try to analyze the story.
People don't like KH because of the actual garbage story being told, people like KH because of the way it made them feel
AT Productions depends on the anime, there’s a good chunk out there that’s actually well written
Gameplay (especially KH2FM, shit's tight dawg)
Music (I honestly considered getting the rhythm game just for that remix of the main screen theme)
Characters (they're all heavily flawed but they have their moments)
Imagery/Designs (keyblades and magic and shit, nigga, plus the designs of characters and worlds are noice despite how hard we meme on them, also the hundreds of keyblade designs are cool to look at and the fact that the keyblade can change design inspires fanart out the ass like how Sonic inspires OCs)
Disney (everyone has at least 1 Disney franchise they like and chances are it appears in or is at least referenced by a KH game)
Final Fantasy (same point as the Disney one, if you like FF on any level you're bound to get at least 1 bone thrown your way)
Also the fact that most people get into KH when they're in their early/mid teens. An age where emotionally charged media resonates with and sucks you in, regardless of its quality. Also at that age you don't really tend to think too critically about the media you consume. Then you get older and hindsight hits you and makes you realize how flawed the things you liked are.
Also, the first 3 games of the series (in release order not story order, so KH 1, CoM, and 2) tell a somewhat solid story with a few flaws and some awkwardness. Honestly, if they had just stopped after KH2 and left the Lingering Will as an ambiguous piece of lore like how Tolkien does lore in his series then the franchise wouldn't get nearly as much flak for its story. All the convoluted bullshit started with BBS and then just kept getting more asinine with each spin off release, culminating with the mess that is KH3. Hell, KH3 only even exists because Nomura needed some way to tie up all that bullshit that started after KH2's release.
