Watch next: Who is Keir Starmer, really? - Andrew Marr explains: ruclips.net/video/c1oaYQoTDCM/видео.html
From trying to force a second referendum to three line whipping for a hard Brexit… tells you all you need to know really. Absolutely no principles whatsoever
Principles had nothing to do with any of it. The second referendum was dead in the water, and he didn't want to give the Tories the attack line that Labour tried to thwart "the will of the people." His preferred outcome was defeated by superior numbers caused by Lib Dem arrogance and SNP scheming. Swinson thought she could become PM, and Sturgeon wanted to turn Scottish minds in favour of independence. There's no point in flogging a dead horse.
@@gio-oz8gfway to write a very long paragraph and miss my point completely… the three line whipping of something you hate is not “having principles” whatever your political position. He himself could have helped May pass her “softer” Brexit deal if he’s not been so incredibly opposed to Brexit… it was actually his own lack of political strategy on what was the most important question of a generation that helped us end up here. Blame every other party if you want… but your analysis actually misses the main point.
@@gio-oz8gfwhat was his preferred outcome and how was it thwarted by the Lib Dem’s and SNP both of whom backed a second referendum?
Desperate attempt by Marr to not admit he puffed up a plank. The rest of us knew it from get go
So finally you are waking up and starting to see the real Starmer
The people of Cork are delighted to let you have Morgan McSweeney….🇮🇪
OMG, THAT 25 minute video explains so much we’ve been puzzled at these last eight months! Well done! I’m definitely going to read their book.
Strangely, one of my thoughts during the interview was an amazing coincidence between the personalities of Starmer and Johnson. These apparent polar opposites both seem to have been driven up that greasy political pole by a desperate need to win without, it seems, much idea of what to do next. Both have apparently given great power to an aide.
Yet more strangely still, this seems to be happening right now in Washington as Trump seems to hand over so much power to Musk. Is this what modern democracy has come to? It demands super-competitive people without any agenda of their own? A sort of global Olympic political competition?
I guess that we who keep up with political news have suspected for a long time that democracy is really something of a sham front for extremely wealthy people. These people now seem to be ‘coming out’ and we are learning what we’ve long feared that our top politicians in the ‘developed west’ are simply fig leafs for those with real power. Down with Westminster, Paris or Washington and up with Davos?
Labour come across as rudderless under Starmer and risk being engulfed by a financial crisis they created by peddling the doom factor from the off. Whoever is pulling strings needs to accept net zero is screwing over the very people Labour once claimed to represent.
Bollocks. The UK has a £50 billion yearly loss in tax revenue due to Brexit and SMEs being unable to trade.
By investing in solar, wind, and nuclear energy this country will become energy secure and energy independent. If we continue as we have done for the last 30 years, we let us be chained and dictated by tyrants abroad like Putin, the OPEC cartel ruled by MBS, and now the loose cannon that is trump. It is imperative that we as a country exploit our own resources, and then once we have a surplus - which we will after we triple our off shore wind production, triple our solar, double our onshore wind, and invest heavily in Small Modular Reactors - we can gain a position as an energy superpower. It is utter propaganda to say that investing in net zero energy is a case of self harm
I think he shows a worrying lack of intellect, and intellectual creativity. He thinks mechanically. Dull. Cannot extemporise at all. No big vision. No sophistication in political philosophy. He's a robot. And his government is hated.
He encapsulates the worst of the current milieu.
I think in this current world of tumultuous politics Kier being a bit boring but having a steely resolve with a thick skin is good thing for government. He's not in it for politics but in it for governing. He's happy to let his team be what they want as long as they are governing correctly. Sounds like a good leader to be honest. Doesn't have an ego.
Whoever the shadowy sock puppet master is, they aren't very good at the job

@@jasonuren3479That's assuming there is one.
I doubt that you know much at all about anything they're doing. You could, of course, prove me wrong. Fire away with your list.
@@gio-oz8gf Fair point 👍
Will the real Labour leader please stand up!
It's funny but nowhere near the mark. Labour leads by consensus; the leader is not the leader in a Tory sense; he is more like a ship captain whose job is to navigate the path laid out for him.
in this case, a very well-qualified ship captain being a formal QC and all.

And Nigel Fatage too.
@@CuriousCrow-mp4cx what? Nigel Farage has never been to davos, its the reason for his growing popularity
Wow! There might be a future for my party after all.
Right. And now we want to stop talking about who said what to whom and when and what cabals and intrigues are going on and start talking about when public services in the country which are funded by high taxation are actually going to start working: action plans already implemented, delivery dates, statistics showing upward curves.
