The gold pass on this ship will make it absolutely amazing. The side doors will be elevators, the cockpit detaches, and custom modules will make this thing a real pirate hub.
The Caterpillar was the first ship I ever bought after the start ship pack, and I will never melt it. It’s an incredible ship, got those classic Drake industrial looks, and will eventually be amazing. For now, it’s looking data but it’s a pirate ship and the coolest of the cargo ships by far.
It’s definitely the cargo ship with the coolest design! The C2 may be able to haul more but it doesn’t have that same rugged, SCI-FI feel! And congratulations on the pickup, the Cat will only get even better over time!
Going to keep saying it. Raise the catwalk a foot. Place the ladder flush against the wall. So now fighters can fly straight through each cargo hold. Perfect small carrier.
I didn't even realize this limitation but that would be a great change; I really hope they implement this so the Cat can work as an efficient carrier for small fighters as well!
@@ViciDeum I'm pretty sure you can fit Merlins or an m50. If we can find just a little bit more room. Currently its too tricky to land in the bay and lockdown.
The cat is a great ship. Once the cargo pods have the full elevator which not only opens but will go to the ground for fast load the cat will grow more popular for being fast to load than the herc. In the original concept art for the cat, it had blades on the front instead of bumpers. I think that was for breaching operations which would allow pirate troops access to another ship.
Agreed, those elevators are going to be an absolute game changer, and particularly helpful when chaining multiple cargo routes together, so you don’t need to shuffle your stock to make any particular drop off! And I’d love to see them reintroduce some breaching blades back on the front 😎👍
No Hercules can beat the looks of the Caterpirate and it handles just as you'd expect of a space truck, wich is a plus for immersion for me. And once the modularity hits us, it will be unpaired with any ship but the Endeavor. Thanks for yours views on this great ship. (Apologies for any typos or grammatical approximations ;)
You’re welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed my video! Thanks for sharing your feedback, and your grammar is great! And I agree, the looks of the Caterpillar are incredible and it’s unmatched in modularity except by the Endeavor, a ship much larger in size and crew!
I agree completely! The Caterpillar has such a cool interior and great design, but the Hercules has really spoiled me with its amazing flight mechanics!
best daily driver. I started using this ship as a daily driver for delivery missions and general trading around the verse. this ship make so much money. it handles better than the carrack in general, and has a better cargo capacity. not to mention it has pilot control weapons and great landing gear when land on planet.
The Cat is one cool ship to run as your daily driver, and it’ll only continue to get better after modularity is introduced! And having those pilot weapons definitely helps!
Liked it so much after getting it in game I did pirate swarm and bought the Pirate version. I think it would have been sweet if the herald wouldve been the command module or atleast able to attach.
Congratulations on the pirate Caterpillar pickup, that skin looks so freaking good! And I love the idea of the Herald being the detachable command station; although I do like the size and amenities of the one that the Caterpillar comes with!
@@DeplorableInfidel71 Just checked the brochure and I couldn't find any specs for the module itself but they say that "In case of catastrophic damage to the main body of the Caterpillar, the Command Module is completly outfitted to survive as an escape ship". So, hopefully, it does have it's own QT drive. Edit: Plus, it has its own beds, and I don't think any snub have one.
Have they announced a shop module? I have heard people theorize about it, but have never seen it confirmed. The mods will be awesome regardless. A thing I don't see mentioned much is how quickly a person or Org with multiple Caterpillars will be able to hot swap the main body of the ship, making cargo drops near instantaneous, or allowing a crew to swap roles on the fly from the same command module. This would allow a single command module to "deploy" one or more main bodies to an area. Depending on what mods come available, this could be really interesting.
They mentioned this in their 2016 ATV for the Caterpillar! They included white boxing on a Barracks, Armory, Medical, Salvage, Merchant and Missile modules! And I didn’t even think of the idea of hot swapping Caterpillars, but I love this idea! Especially if it’s used to swap pilots out that don’t have a crimestat, it could offer some cool gameplay opportunities!
Hey mate, discovering the channel i love those vids... Quick question, Galaxy cargo or cat ? :p Same SCU, same dimensions and class. Same kind of weaponry (almost).
Thank you so much, I’m glad you’ve been enjoying my content! And that’s a tough question, they’re both great ships that approach things differently. Do you want a larger ship that has a cargo module? Or do you want a smaller ship that has modules with its cargo platform? The Cat is versatile and smaller, where the Galaxy has more potential profitability, but crew requirements and cost!
Yes, I’m looking forward to this as well! A dragonfly carrier has been tossed around as an idea for a bit and this would be a perfect module for the Cat!
I want to love it. Lots of folks smarter than me love it but everything is a little bigger a pain in the ass in there... Modules will save the day for her.
That’s a really fair point! Compared to other haulers (especially the C2) the Cat just isn’t as efficient to fly or load, but once it gets future updates to its cargo containers and especially after modularity, it’ll really shine!
Where is the footage of the detached cockpit from ? And I don't understand why they cannot have the docking from the conni on the Caterpillar. The mechanics are already there, just a few tweaks and at least it'd drive more players to buy and use them. Great vid mate.
Thank you so much, I'm glad you enjoyed this video! And that clip is from StarJump (link in the video description)! And it would be cool to have the Connie's docking; maybe we'll get something similar with a "hangar" variant of one of the Cat's sections!
Currently (Aug 23) this ship is in limbo. Sure you can haul with it, make some profit, but we all know better options out there for that. This ship is full of hope and dreams right now. I don't expect to see any modules or promised upgrades for a few years.
I suspect once it goes through it’s final polish pass it’ll be enlarged slightly and capable of holding merlins/archimedes, but at the very least it’ll always be able to unleash a swarm of dragonflies haha!
Yes, they’ve been prototyping the modules for the Caterpillar for a very long time, and fully intend to implement them at some point! Sadly modularity has taken a back burner, but it’s still the intention! And thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed this video 😁👍
I think last count there was at least 11 different modules discussed. I’m really looking forward to medical, rearm refuel and it’s only a rumor but the possibility of broadside guns contained inside each section. Imagine that pulling up next to you only to find out it’s a heavily armed pirate ship.
I do often give out cash in game but not to everyone as I use it just as much as others; by renting/buying ships for these reviews! I’d be very broke if I just gave out all the money I earned, although you can earn it rather easily! Do Urgent Boarding action missions or any of the bunker bounties to get some quick cash!

The gold pass on this ship will make it absolutely amazing. The side doors will be elevators, the cockpit detaches, and custom modules will make this thing a real pirate hub.
Agreed! Not only will modules have a huge impact, but even the simple updates to elevators, the cockpit and other polish pass improvements as well!
Don't forget the tractor beam.
I just want to be able to lock open the interior doors tbh.

Just copped LTI cat via CCU last night for $200!!
Congratulations on the pickup and those CCU savings, really nice work!
Love this ship, hated it for the longest time but the versatility and raw appearance of the ship won me over.
It really is a great ship, and with a ton of features that it’s still waiting to receive with modularity and the tractor beam!
Two tractor beams. One on the command module and one on the opposite side.
@@DeplorableInfidel71 Yes! Apologies for mistyping, but it has two! One attached to the command station, and another aboard the mail hull!

Once modules are in though, it will top the C2.
C2 holds more. Loading with salvage is easier with the Caterpillar by a great margin. Once the modules are released it'll also be far more versatile.
A ship I use to deliver single boxes to a specific destination. Worth it.
Those are either some lucrative boxes or some very pampered clients haha.

3 different bars & a strip club are the best modules ... IMO it's a mini Endeavor .

Definitely will be great for piracy
Absolutely, especially after tractor beams and modules are introduced, the Caterpillar will be an incredible pirate ship!
Was there any data running abilities on this thing with its servers
I don’t remember if they mentioned anything specifically, but I’d be surprised if they didn’t add a cargo module that could do this!
