    Great video. What about seated leg extensions? Is the concentric is when you push down the weight?

    Hi Thank u for great video but I am wondering if you are doing tug of war where is your load ? I don’t see any lifting and lowering happening in this process thank you for answering

    I have a question
    When gravity is eliminated and there is no load , there won’t be an eccentric phase in any muscle doing any action .. right ?
    For example supine hip ABD
    The glutes medius/minimus is concentrically contracting while ADDs are in Reciprocal inhibition
    And when the hip ADD back in the same circumstances the ABD muscles are in reciprocal inhibition state while agonists are contracting???

    • @Parallelcoaching
      @Parallelcoaching  11 месяцев назад

      Hey good question. The gravity doesn't disappear though. Instead of looking at the joint and body part against gravity. Look at the weight stack. The same is true on a horizontal leg press, pec fly machine or a Lat pull down. If the weight stack goes up to the clouds (against gravity) it's the concentric phase of that exercise.
      :)

    So would it also be correct to day eccentric is when you extend and concentric is when you contract?

    • @Parallelcoaching
      @Parallelcoaching  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes as a general rule. Just make sure you are thinking about the prime mover doing the extension or contraction else it gets really confusing :)

    3:33 Please help ya boi out, on the eccentric phase or the “down phase” of a squat, are the quads and the glutes are still the agonists even if they are lengthening like this lady says?
    I thought agonists only contract, pls help

    • @Parallelcoaching
      @Parallelcoaching  2 года назад

      Good question.
      The important part to remember is that the agonist will shorten on the concentric phase and lengthen on the eccentric phase.
      That’s how you know it is the agonist.
      If î

  • @CorbinBlanchardDesign
    @CorbinBlanchardDesign Год назад

    So the concentric phase is when you're lifting the weight, and eccentric is when you're lowering the weight, basically?
