- After plans for the gala to commemorate the closure of the M&GN Joint Railway which closed 60 years ago this year (2019) fell through due to the unavailability of exLMS 'Flying Pig' 43106 (based on the SVR), the North Norfolk Railway managed to acquire 1907-built Caledonian Railway 439 Class No.419 (from the Scottish Railway Preservation Society/Bo’ness and Kinneil Railway) on tour around several railways in England. Unfortunately, the locomotive doesn't feature in this video as she failed to climb up to Holt from Weybourne while I was on that section of track on the Saturday and was removed from service early afternoon.
The home fleet taking part in the gala was:
LNER B12 8572
GER Y14 564
BR Standard 4 76084
BR 7F 53809
BR WD 90775 'Royal Norfolk Regiment'
Shots taken over the Saturday and Sunday of the gala as well as a couple from the Monday (normal running day)

Great video as always Tom, the mist adds more to the charm of steam but mist, snow, rain or shine steam reigns
Wonderful video Tom, big thumbs up + sub. Greetings from Denmark :)
Great video! I was there Sunday compete fog out! I think that was the worst weather i have seen there. btw 8572 in LNER green all the way!
Thanks! I'm glad I made Saturday my main day and just got a couple of shots on the Sunday. You could hardly see 50m ahead! I was expecting it to clear up by the afternoon, but it seemed exactly the same. It's a nice livery, but I want her to match up with the Mk1s there. Tom
@@TomsSteamVideos70013 I think it was less than 50m at times! I understand about the Mk1's but I think looks better with the LNER Quad Art Set. But that's just Co's i am a LNER man.
Great shots. Bit misty. Is that from the sea?
Excellent video of the gala Tom and great to meet you there on Saturday 👍😉
I went to Didcot yesterday to see the new build GWR Saint in action and it was so awesome.
Thanks Joe! It was great to catch up! So you didn't do the East Anglian Railway Museum? Glad you had a good time! :) Tom
The reason that didn't go to the East Anglian Railway Museum is due to the rain forecast in around Essex and I decided to go to Didcot instead to see the Saint Class. Never the less, I'm maybe thinking of going to the EARM over the Easter weekend only if 813 is still there.
Great vid. Loved the first clip. The boiler on 8572 to me looks far to big for the frame of the loco.
Thanks! The fog and mist was annoying for the few shots I caught and for driving about, but it did allow for some atmospheric shots! I agree - it does look that way 😂 Would prefer her in BR black though! Tom
The boiler of the 8572 is the right size for the loco.
Hi Tom, great filming and scenary, loco,s put on a good show too.. 😀 Dave🚂🚂
