3-2 =1. when there is a letter with no numbers there is an invisible 1 so -x = -1x

That’s a good way of thinking about it if that’s helps! As 1 x any number is still that number. So -x2 could be thought of as -1 x 2 = -2

Why didnt the 4× + 3× become sqared?
Because it is plus not multiply.in plus you just copy the x but in multiply x × x=x squared.

I use a different font than the standard font and just type it out. It can be pretty cumbersome for some equations though.
